So what should I do? Nigerians are still better than South Africans in my own opinion. Nobody asked them for what they think about us as a people because for every one Yahoo boy, there are 100 Nigerians making impact all over the world. We shouldn't give the world a chance to insult us. At the end of the day, it's innocent Nigerians that would be attacked by those ones.

PS: if not for Nigerian bloggers this issue wouldn't have leaked cos no major foreign TV had direct information about his arrest. We too cast ourselves.
Nigerians being better than Southies is entirely your opinion. Secondly, this still has nothing to do with Hushpuppi's actions or the fact that a great number of Nigerian youths have a penchant for scamming.

Please let's address the issue itself instead of making this a contest of "who scam pass". The moment you start making comparisons, you've started making excuses for a blatant crime.

Bro, who scam o, who no scam o, every man with his own problem. I will not blame my own people based on what Southies are saying, that's mine. Any Nigerian youth caught scamming should face the music, that's their own palaver. Do the crime, do the time. At the end of the day, those castigating Nigerians will end up discriminating against the innocent ones...

EFCC will arrest a corrupt politician that stole billions of naira from our collective wealth today and release him tomorrow. A yahoo boy that attempts to collect $500 will be sent to jail for 5 years and all of you think this is how to build a future.

It's never by talking. These things are the offshoots of bad governance and lack of circulation of funds in the country. If our country was good and we had a decent society Nigerians aren't greedy people. But just like the kings sold out slaves to the whites, our politicians have sold out the youths with their greed. No country is as politically corrupt as Nigeria, this is the origin of the problems in the country. As long as there is no good governance and opportunities in our society, people won't stop these things, take it or leave it... Social problems aren't just solved by talking and blaming your people, they are solved by fixing things!

The southern part of Nigeria (Yoruba, Niger Delta and Igbo) is filled with ambitious youth who find themselves in a society where they cannot thrive easily. No infrastructure, electricity is absent, bad roads everywhere, jobs are usually unavailable and grossly underpaid... Let us address the problems we have. If Nigerians don't scam, they will impregnate whites for visas and run, they'll join gangs to give them a fake sense of support, crime rates will soar. Ask developed societies how they achieved it, it's by laying a foundation of good governance.

There’s no country in this world that is devoid of crime and criminals. That a Nigerian criminal was arrested don’t mean SA criminals are now saints. SA has not been made better because Hushpuppi was arrested, so mind urs and we’ll mind ours. At least we don’t need to troll for bad news on SA to feel good about ourselves, u guys are d least of our concerns. grin

Is there any confirmation from FBI or Interpol stating that Hushpuppi was arrested for the fraud?

All we know is that Nigerian bloggers are the ones giving us information with unconnected news reports. No official communication from any international law enforcement. Unlike Obi (Invictus) Okeke's case that the FBI clearly gave details of his arrest, we still don't know if Hushpuppi was truly arrested by the FBI and Interpol. All we know is that Kemi Olunloyo (a fellow Yoruba) was one of those promoting the news. So forget the Afonja nonsense you're saying cos you guys don't even know the meaning. undecided

This is not about tribe cos crime is crime both ways. But let's not resort to blaming ourselves, it won't solve anything.

I also don't want to exchange words with you, the whole world has been saying he's involved in fraud but let's wait and see what happens next.

A Yoruba my foot is promoting which news?? Something that is no longer news anymore. I even saw it on so many sites...

My comment above are based on what I see here on daily basis when a northern or an afonja commits any crime the volume is low but once it's an Igbo guy then you'll see all afonjas and their accomplice giving all kinds of negative remarks on the tribe rather than condemn the crime in it's totality as you stated...

Disappointed that hush is Yoruba. Yorubas do not encourage fraud, cultism, murder, drugs and any other forms of crime.
Yorubas do not justify crime by claiming other tribes are worse at it.
They don't rejoice when a criminal evades justice just because he is Yoruba.
No, they expose criminals and let him face justice
Was hushpup exposed? The name goes endless
If your words were true, I wish it was

Well, you can keep listing their names , but we never asked that they shouldn't be probed just like you did when Allison Madueke escaped.
We don't scream tribal persecution when justice is about to be served.
Any proof that no one wanted her tried?
She even requested for trial, why did EFCC reject it?
Yeah she's a criminal

You don't know what you're talking about. SA criticizes whites all the time. Julius Malema's Party the EFF is based on black conscienceness and hates whites (it's the 3rd biggest party). Zuma's ANC was anti-white while he was in power (Radical Economic Transformation).

So you're just here blowing off steam from chronic ignorance. And lay off the name calling coz this could get nasty very quickly. I approached you respectfully so be civilized.

You South Africans claim that Nigerians are drug peddlers in your country, but you forget that supply only rises based on demand. How come we don't take cocaine or heroine or methamphetamine in our own country? Even weed and cough syrup (codeine) is illegal here and constitutes the major drug busts.

Check yourselves, your people are drug addicts and I'm sure the Nigerians selling the "drugs" are working for SA cartels. Stop the name calling. If every Nigerian in SA both legal and illegal leave the country, the drug addiction of your people won't go away, you'd probably blame Mozambicans and ur other SADC neighbours over there.

Just come take your people and stop annoying us. We all know your people sell drugs all over the world, so stop making excuses. Their days here are limited. angry

Their Minister says millions of them are jobless that is why they can't sanction them for stealing, so they are legalized thieves.
Remove foreigners investments from their land, they are naked!
It is the same here in nigeria, if you remove foreign investment here nigeria is finished, even here is worst

That one makes dumb statements. Most countries depend on foreign investment, that's why they hold summits and investor conferences.

The news is filled with South Africans robbing Nigerian tourists, one even got shot, a gospel musician for that matter. Tell me if any Nigerian has ever attacked an SA national in our own country... All your people are good at is referring to foreigners as makwerekwere and looking for ways to loot shops.

It's even worse, Nigerians attack South Africans IN SOUTH AFRICA all in the name of making a quick buck. angry

Perhaps if Nigerians weren't selling drugs then crackheads wouldn't be robbing tourists but we're taking back control (that's why you're calling us xenophobic because we are turning off the taps).

PS, there are no South Africans to harm in Nigeria because we don't give a rat's tail about your country.

ALSO Hushpuppi doesn't have to scam my father for me to be upset by his actions. Shows how rotten and corrupt the Nigerian mindset is. Ever heard of Ubuntu?

I will never support anyone committing crimes, especially in another man's country, but your people need to stop the generalisation. There are so many Nigerian university lecturers, doctors, IT professionals in South Africa working legally and you guys will always choose to judge a nation of 200+ million people by the action of a few bad eggs.

If there are Nigerian criminals in your country, please report them, I'm sure your police is equipped to deal with them, they are criminals before anything else. But when you paint a picture that Nigerians are bad people, then you leave us no choice than to fight back.

Fight the crime, fight the criminals, do things legally because 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Hate to burst your bubble but there are far more Nigerian riff raffs than professionals in SA. They have entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas. Just go to places like Hillbrow in Johannesburg and Sunnyside in Pretoria to see how they are overrunning those towns and hijacking buildings, leaving them to become inner-city slums. Wherever Nigerians settle in crowds South Africans move out. That should tell you the problem is indeed a huge one.

If you know them and have so much "correct" information, why isn't your police doing something about it? Please deport them, we are tired of the rants, unless your police and government cannot do the right thing.

Arrest them, deport them, no Nigerian will complain, but never kill people or loot legal businesses just to harm foreigners. It is satanic. Teach your people to abide by the rules of the land too.

Our government feels it owes the continent favours for support during the liberation movement. That's why they're going around the continent dishing out apologies but the people are very angry and taking matters into their own hands. Unfortunately in SA Nigerians have bitten the hand that feeds them. Even Buhari castigated you people when he was in SA.

On the satanic comment that's our vice here in SA, and I can certainly point to even more horrific trends in Nigeria that I don't have to spell out, u are very familiar with them.

Very funny.
What does nationalism have to do with this? And no one is asking you to criticize your people, the right thing to do would have been to criticize the actions of the few bad eggs, for the sake of your people. Because, let's face it, some of the consequences of the actions of Hushpuppi and his ilk will be borne by innocent hardworking Nigerians in diaspora who would lose their credibility and trust because of the reinforcement of prevailing stereotype of Nigerians being fraudulent.

And of course, Nigerians are hardworking people.
