Sorry I have been so busy..let me get to your questions now and try to hopefully give you some insights;

1. Yes Cranfield is countryside or remote

2. There are a few jobs posted on CSA in school for students, most students however work at cities close to Cranfield that's Bedford or Milton Keynes. You might be able to see jobs in sales, admin or care homes, most of them pay minimum wage £8.25 or so pending on your age,if you work within the 20hrs limit and have steady shifts then 20*8.25*4 should give you close to £660 or so.Not too bad.

3. Adding jobs and experience on CV depends on the job you get.i would advice working with the career team to restructure your CV to fit UK style and standard.

4.You have to check in with your faculty and admin team for Scholarship

5. It is cheaper to live on neighbouring cities again Bedford or Milton Keynes or perhaps Cranfield Village. Pending on your budget you can get £300 shared accommodation with bills inclusive, there are good African stores as well in Milton and Bedford. However you will have to factor in the Uno Bus Student pass £34 per month to get the bus to Cranfield

6) This is one thing I can boast about. Cranfield has a alot of industries affiliated to it .The target is to know who the contact person is in your faculty and the research representative in the Industries you are interested in, try to find a problem the industries might be facing, use one as a dissertation topic and proffer solutions. It might not be easy but it brings you one step closer to the door.If and when possible pitch in that you want to spend time after studying for real industry experience and you will appreciate the opportunity. For example my research is sponsored by 3water utilities in the UK.not an easy one but definitely worth it.

Sorry i used the word Industries* alot.

I hope this helps

All the best

Learnt Cranfield is located in a remote region, how easy is it to get work to support my stay & also add to my experience (CV)?

Are there any scholarship opportunities or tuition reduction for international students?

How is the cost of living at Cranfield?

Job prospects after studying at Cranfield? I really intend to stay back if possible.

I forgot to add that there are other forums Cranfield is linked on: GetHighered ,Student Circus etc .They usually hold career and job opening days, now done virtually but you can use that opportunity to see other companies .

Cheers

Gurus in the house!
Please, is there any means of staying legally in UK after MSc studies? And if yes, please what are the conditions?
Thank you.

I attended Coventry, graduation date is usually three months after course end date.

Your best bet would be to secure a tier 2 sponsorship or go the entrepreneurial route with the Tier 1 visa category.

Got a mail from Sheffield Hallam University. I think its going to be a blend for majority.

And I feel so many students will deferre their offer to January.

What if its only 1 intake? Some courses can't happen only online.

Hey guys, I have bachelor degree in computer science, so I'm looking at applying for a masters degree in either (cyber security, data science, software engineering, network security or IT project management) I would like to know which of these fields is in high demands in terms of job prospects and also if anyone is currently studying any of the courses and can give an insight about the course. And also suggestions of cheap schools will also be appreciated as my budget for tuition only is 9-12k pounds, thank you

Yes, blended means face-to-face and online which means you still have to travel but it depends on your school plan and if your country's border will be open in september.

But if your schools says only Online classes like Oxford University and University of Newcastle then you either look for a school that is offering your course in January or you wait still next year September.

Reason why I am considering SHU instead of the school I made up my mind to attend. The mail SHU sent today stated that they will have January intake for my course. Although the former school is still blended but no January intake for my course just incase any thing happens like delay in visa approval etc.

But wait for your school to come up with a plan.

Have you made any research on your own?
Yes I have, according to google cybersecurity and data science are the leading courses in demand, but I’d like anyone in these field or any other IT field should shed more light on it.

Pls I would like to ask how to go about the DBS check here in Nigeria. My school said it's different from the normal police check for visa application

STENON:
GCU and Sheffield Hallam University have updated their website and it's also a blended learning for both schools. Please wait for update before paying that huge sum of money o grin I am patiently following the update for a cousin of mine

Please, for those whose program' duration is two years, will they get a tuition discount in the second year, too?

Also, what are the odds of having ones tuition completely/partially waived in the second year after an impressive first year performance?

Your best bet is to ask the admissions team.. Different policies and merit programs exist in different schools, there is no blanket answer for this.
Confirm from your school of interest

Does anyone have an idea about what the University of Derby and the city of Derby is like? What is the prospect of this university and the city?

I also have a conditional offer with Leeds Beckett University, Staffordshire university and teeside university but the offer from Derby is firm.

Finally, I want to ask for advice. I have alot of fears about reopening of the UKVAC but my friend says I should proceed with getting my documents and move on with my deposit that the UKVAC will open in the coming days.

I no fit draw money o na my fear be that sincerely.

I'm guessing this is Msc course? If yes and the two yrs includes internship then your tuition fees is just for one year.

Good morning everyone, just joining this platform and appreciate everyone's effort to making the thread lively and educative.

I have Bsc Education( Economics) and have been teaching for 11years in a government school.
I have been offered admission to study MSc psychology conversion Or MA Education at Nottingham Trent and Sheffield hallam. 1. Now I don't really know the one to request a cas for considering that both are beneficial to my profession as a teacher.
Please Stenon and other guru's in the house should please comment which of the 2courses will benefit my teaching career more if I considering to stay back in Uk thru the tier 2 visa after studies.
2. When applying for visa do I have to get a study leave attached to my visa application.
3. Can I get teaching job with my Economics background in the Uk?

Anyway, I’m not residing in Uk, but I studied psychology in University, for you to benefit more from Psychology, u need to go deeper into it. U need to specialize in one area of psychology like Clinical Psychology, experimental psychology, social psychology, sports psychology, military psychology, forensic psychology etc, but doing ur masters in Education will give u a direct access to teaching, thats... thats my opinion, I stand a chance to be corrected!

Its called PVG Diclosure in Scotland. Your school will send the form to your home address in Nigeria so you must have a valid address in Nigeria as most of the forms always get lost on the way.
I remembered 2 were sent to my friend in Nigeria but none gt to his address in Nigeria.
You have to fill the form and enter the address of where you have lived for @ least 5 years, You will also need to enter your bank details in the form and thereafter post it back to your school, who will now send to the DBS office. It takes minimum of 3 weeks to get a response and the letter will be posted back to your address in Nigeria and also a copy to your school.

Better to ask someone in UK to collect the form for you and you must be ready to pay the person too.

I actually did for a friend but not advicesable to do for someone you don't really know or trust.
@ Yemsot FYI. it's called PVG in Scotland, but DBS in England. I think both should be the same processing , but try and read more information about it online, or try and ask your school more questions about it.

I don't really understand what that course is all about, is it same thing as MSc Psychology or the conversion added to it makes it different ? If you check your school website very well they always mention something like ... Graduating with this MA Education won't qualify you for QTS.

Since you have long years of teaching experience and have a degree in Economics Education, please try and get your TRCN before leaving Nigeria and another Masters degree in Economics won't be bad as that is an opportunity for you to know some of the economics terms in this country. Our curriculum is quite similar but more advanced than what we teach at secondary school level in Nigeria.
