Had no income at all but she was with me 8yrs. I proposed and she said yes because I was willing to do any kind of job for her, and while we were still trying to figure out what to do with our miserable lives, a good federal Govt. Job came on a platter. I now believe that phrase in the holy book "he who finds a wife............."

Sir, I will implore you to tell us the full story.
This one can be misleading.
How can you get married without any income?
Like no money at all with you and you went ahead to get married.
Even if it's just a small income, I'm sure you must have except if both parents helped to finance the wedding and also catered for ur welfare after marriage.

The important thing is marry someone that's working, what you earn isn't a parameter for happy marriage bro

Don't let anybody decieve you here that marriage is not all about money. Nothing is more important than money in marriage.
About 3 of my guys got married last year and ever since then, their songs anytime I ask after their family is that things are not easy.
One out of them that has ever asked me for money has borrowed from me about 3 times just to cater for the family.
Please, If you are not financially stable, don't think about marriage. Fix your pocket first else you will end up frustrated.
God bless u

my favourite, how have you been? Long time o, and I couldn't help laughing at your post. I am thinking about settling down too but my salary is just 50k, my girl earns same but I am scared. I know she won't contribute more than 20k because she is a partial bread winner of her family, so the thing dey fear me. I want to go for a promotional course that will take 5years but my girl said she can't wait cause she will be 31years old then. I really want to marry this girl embarassed

Not a matter of earning for me, but by the grace of God, I definitely have to get married by 30. That's why am serious searching while also trying to quadruple my income. She has to be very sharp cause she's gonna be the one to run my business when i travel or when am too busy.

What I need is a partner, independent, smart & lovely not a liablilty

u re right. people who re not financially, stable will, end,up creating, liabilities, for, their relatives and, friends. constant borrowing dt cant be paid back, even d,kids will suffer too, why rush to,bring,in,kids that will, suffer. bringing kids to suffer in this world,is,a,big offence before GOD, tins have changed over time, before to buy car,for naija or,house,is classified,as luxury, bt nowadays to,eat 3 square meal for, naija has become a luxury, imagone during this lockdown many families were begging food.
therr is no rush for live , where a person running reach,na same place person walking go reach. avoid all, these worthless competitions abt marriage and number of kids. if u dont have money hustle and get then, marry, if u can, only feed, one, kid born one-.lets dt using, our brain well, in,nigeria things keep getting worse evryday put dt in,ur plans too. dont go and marry someones daughter and kill her wit hunger, dont multiply poverty in,ur lineage by giving birth to,chikdren dt,wont be caterd for well

I don't think someone who earn such will be here. No disrespect though
If only you knew the caliber of people on Nairaland. A top personnel in an international construction company got in touch with me months back and he told me he is quite active on this platform. Behind some funny monickers are some bosses.

good....not working yet but am a fan of Early marriage and plan taking a wife early as soon as i get a job, the key thing is that both should be working and also av other means of income because even if u earn 500k and get married, u can still lose ur job during the marriage and thats where she would help assist and both needs to work for the family....how much a guy earns shouldn't be a determinant before he gets married because life is full of ups and down but a guy should be financially stable to at least provide the basic needs of his family.....las las "ba3 wey full go low and ba3 wey low go still full bt my your charger no spoil...
The thread is for married men, not idealistic, naive bachelors.

Nairaland has always been a great platform until some tribalistic idiots took over the forum

Despite that, I always visit the business section because I learned what I do today from there

What was your monthly income when you, as a man took the bold decision of marrying her?

Does marriage really pave ways for more blessings?

I'm thinking of taking the giant step at 30, but really scared of the future.

Please share your experience so that intending husbands like me can get motivation.

You should be thinking about income and expenses. A person who makes N100k/month and his whole family (siblings and parents) depend on him can never be compared with a lone ranger who earns N40k/month. God forbids he is a spendthrift who cannot control his expenses. You might as well throw the concept of income out of the window.

My monthly income when I married was #30000 in Lagos state. Though my income has not increased more than #40000 now but I have a good family.

Marriage is not just about money . If there is proper management and understanding , couples will live a good life in poverty.

I was earning about 78,000 when I got married 2years ago in Onitsha Anambra state. Today, I earn 119,000. Not really about the money but being with the right woman. She is really a blessing to me.
