"He served the state for 8 years"

I think it was the other way around and I don't see why the wife is busy transferring aggression to the Deputy Governor. She and the family are sitting on truckloads of stolen money that may never be recovered.

RIP to the dead but then again we have to call it how it is. Our leaders are thieves and rogues who have no respect for the people they govern and her husband was no exception.

Current deputy governor of the state.
I don't pray so, it is like if Jonathan should die today and Osibanjo is sent to represent FG to commiserate with Madam Patience. Assuming that Osibanjo was able to get Jonathan House after just four days and this kind of fight starts and Jonathan wife claiming that she does not have Vice president Osibanjo number and she doesn't pick strange number.
The misunderstanding is not needed.
In the first instance, the Ajimobis didn't inform the state government that the ex-governor was sick neither did they inform state government officially that he has died.
It should have been the state government duty to announce the death of Ajimobi. Ajimobi body is a property of government.
Even, the woman was not in Oyo State until this morning.
It is unnecessary bitterness.

you Sabi jare...all these banter get as e be. All of us know the family just enter Ibadan today

Whether she picked call or not, the Deputy Governor was there to commiserate on behalf of the state with the family.
When she knew that she would not be picking all the calls, why would she accused the Deputy Governor of not calling her?

When you called somebody you have never communicated with before an emergency, the right thing to do is to send SMS. The Deputy Governor has no excuse. The government has other channels to reach the family. The Police team at Agodi GRA residence, were they sent there before Ajimobi died? Were they sent there to prevent his spirit or his family entering the property? The woman has a point.

Officially, their family are being catered for by government. It is reckless and ignorance of the wife of a family that government is spending more than half a million naira every month to say the phone number from number two citizen of such state is a strange number.

Thank you sir,

When he won the state election, did you call him to congratulate him.
U said u don't pick call of strangers,
When the deputy governor won the state election did u call? You had about a year to save his number being the number 2 in the state, did u?
Pls go and mourn peacefully,
You are now ex -governor wife, join the masses in sharing in the pain they go through daily and stop this media frenzy.

Don't use family member narrative please.
This is official, sentiment apart.
The first due required of them in state protocols is to inform the state governmentor national Government as the case may be. They have failed in that respect.
Secondly, the state government still went ahead to establish contact to the family through the State Deputy Governor, she claimed that she does not pick strange numbers.
Third, the state delegations led by Deputy Governor visited immediately she returned back to the state.
Meanwhile, state apparatus have been deployed to sing praises of her husband including he didn't deserve.
The problem is about Agodi GRA property, she cannot handtwist the state government.
Who is telling you that state government is not even contacting her? We are only examine her narrative which was ill-concieved.
She and the family members have been begging State government for Agodi GRA property since Thursday, using her husband body as a bait.

All this is just to excuse someone who didn't act according to common sense and norms. Now, according to the discussion, there's no proof the man even called. We are the ones assuming the phone rang but she didn't pick. The man didn't say that. The phone could have been switched off or maybe he was even lying. These doubts could have been avoided by a simple act, that's my point. Yes, she might have had her own issues but if, despite all her shortcomings, the state government really wanted to establish contact with her, that her phone didn't ring or that she didn't pick shouldn't be an excuse. And that's what she was trying to tell them. Her husband wasn't just anybody. He was the immediate past leader of the state who led for 8 years. If they don't want to reach out cause of grudges, fine. But let them not pretend about it. 'm not saying they don't have underground issues but they gave her valid reasons to burst out. That's my point.

What are you talking about? Were you formerly informed about his death? Their is nothing like former information in death, it announces itself.

I am not the governor or part of the oyo state govt so I didn’t need to be formally informed.
Ajimobi is a property of Oyo state govt. he collected salaries and was collecting pensions.
There’s a protocol.
The state govt should have been formally informed.
Do you think the presidency heard in the media?

Sure maybe Makinde should have been the bigger man, but the fault is on both sides

It is not the fault of Seyi Makinde. APC in Oyo State headed by Ajimobi distanced themselves from this present Govt because he is opposition. They don't invite Governor or any of his appointees to their functions. For example Akin Alabi never sent an invitation to the State government for his late dad burial. Would the governor impose himself on opposition when he is not welcome.

It is possible. Politics is a dirty game. Let me reserve my comment. Something similar happened to somebody in another State, the current governor directed the former governor to be discussing with his SA on Special Duties on all matters. The Deputy Governor avoids the former governor as well as a sign of loyalty.

Ajimobi's burial: This wicked lie must stop
The Oyo State Government has strongly denied insinuations that it is responsible for the delay in burying the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died on Thursday.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the insinuations amounted to a wicked lie.
The statement read: "In view of the intense enquiries from news media organisations regarding the perceived delay in burying the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Oyo State Government wishes to place on record that there is no truth in the rumour making the rounds that the burial is being delayed by the state government.
"The rumour, which is being deliberately spread to give the state government a bad name and to play undue politics with the dead, initially came by the way of social media gossip, which gained traction to attract the attention of traditional media outfits.
"Several media outfits reached out to the Media Office of the Governor of Oyo State to make enquiries on this barefaced lie on Saturday.
"Let it be stated clearly that the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has played no role at all in causing any delay whatsoever regarding the burial of his immediate predecessor, Senator Ajimobi.
"The truth of the matter is that the family, through a proxy, approached the state government and sought approval to bury the late governor on a plot of land at Agodi GRA, which is currently under litigation.
"Incidentally, it was the same former Governor Ajimobi who instituted the legal action.
"Governor Seyi Makinde had no choice than to state the facts as they are to the emissaries and turn down the request.
"Governor Makinde, however, against the established land use rule in Oyo State, gave approval that the family can bury the late governor in his Oluyole Estate residence.
"It is to be noted that the rules guiding land use in Government Reservation Areas (GRA) forbid the burial of bodies in such locations as Oluyole Estate and Agodi GRA.
"Let us also put on record that whereas the family did not follow the laid down protocols in passing information on the sickness and eventual demise of Senator Ajimobi, Governor Makinde overlooked all that and directed the full cooperation of the government with the family on this matter.
"It can only amount to a wicked lie to insinuate that the incumbent government in Oyo State attempted to obstruct the burial of the immediate past governor."
Signed
Taiwo Adisa
Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde

"...you can at least send me a text if you can't call... Everybody will die... My husband served this state for 8 years, blablabla".

Was her husband sending text messages to those he oppressed when he was the governor?

She should keep her bitterness and her husband served for herself and his family not for the state.

And for someone mourning, whose husband's record in Oyo was filled with pain and anguish for the people, I think she should not be talking down at anyone but rather be remorseful.

Yes, everyone will die. But let's leave a worthy legacy that will attract people to our name when we are gone. Not to live like demi-gods.

Imagine, as wife of immediate past Governor, she doesn't pick calls from numbers outside her contact list. The prison they put themselves.

She doesn't have the Governor and Deputy Governor's numbers & she doesn't have people around her who do?!

Okay, she's grieving and can be excused.

The Engineer Seyi Makinde Government need to put its act together.

There are too many avoidable press blunders.

This latest one was another avoidable one. A condolence letter to the Ajimobi family with a delegate would have gone a long way.

Folks are wondering why former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi who is a Muslim has not been buried many days after his death. Well let me give you the premium scoop; During his tenure as the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi converted so many of the state’s properties into his personal use without paying a dime for any of them. Some of these properties have since been seized by the Oyo state government and converted back to the state’s use. So when it was time to bury him, his wife, Florence Ajimobi strategically chose one of the choice properties that her late husband stole from Oyo state, a sprawling edifice very close to the Government House in Ibadan. But the said property had been under lock and key by the state government even prior to Ajimobi’s death so it was very surprising that she made attempts to stylishly usurp the property once again. She knows too well that if she triumphs in burying her husband there, the property becomes automatically theirs.

But the state Governor Seyi Makinde is not having it, Seyi has vehemently refused the pressure from her. Firstly she got the VP to interfere in the matter. The VP is said to have called the Governor and pleaded on her behalf but the governor maintained that he has looked away on so many occasions and obliged the Ajimobis countless times in allowing them to keep their various loots. That he wouldn’t stand by and watch this lady play a fast one on the state by trying to bury her husband there. When Florence Ajimobi saw that the former redeem pastor was unable to make it happen, she reached out again to former President Obasanjo to intervene on her behalf and Obasanjo promised to speak with Governor Seyi Makinde but as at this afternoon, Obasanjo has not gotten back to her.

Knowing Obasanjo very well, he might not have even called Seyi Makinde cos he knows the ex Oyo First Lady is just playing smart and greedy. Since they don’t want to bury him in his Oluyole home they have now officially agreed with Oyo state government to bury him tomorrow at the Abiola Ajimobi mosque he built in Oke-Ado during his reign.

This is my take and I will say it as it is; this is a widow who sits on a multi-billion naira fortune that her husband acquired as a two-time governor of Oyo state. Whether in pounds sterling, dollars, or naira, money is not in any way her problem. She has just too much money at her disposal; in a state, her husband left in a MESS!!!! He had university students stay at home for two freaking years!!!!!! And he refused to pay teachers and lecturers. The story is horrific. But even with all these, his widow is more interested in using her late husband’s burial to steal more from the statethis single action perfectly mirrors the mindset of the late politician and his wife. The entitlement mentality is to put it mildly MORBID!!!!! These people believe that looting our financial destinies is actually their full-fledged rights. Two years ago I wrote extensively about the Ajimobis particularly about his wife Florence, her disdainful and very condescending attitude in general. I predicted that when they leave power she would realize in a very painful way that political power is transient. Might look for that write-up and share it again. Even in death politicians and their families are still LOOTING!!!!May God help Nigeria
