unpaid hours for breakfast, lunch or tea time grin. You get 1 hour subtracted from every 12 hours shift for your break undecided and 30 minutes for every 6 hours lipsrsealed

See as you calculate your meal times put inside the 60 hours! cheesy cheesy

Putting such hours in a care setting is not easy, I must confess. I presently work in a psychiatric hospital, I only do 40hrs weekly and can't go beyond that to avoid burnout.

Isn't this a violation of your student visa?

I hope you all are not working more than 20 hrs during term time.

Hope you guys know that dissertation period is term time.

A PhD is entitled go up to 8 weeks holiday per year starting from when he or she begin. So he or she can only work full time for eight weeks within a 12 month calendar year.

January intake is around 16-18 months with the same tuition fee as 12 months September intake

@Skymoore
Does that mean a two year msc program that starts in January will take 3years? (i.e 18month × 2 = 36months)
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Skymoore1004: 12:01pm On Jul 02, 2020
It depends on the care home. But most care workers are from agencies. Some agencies pay more than others eg £8.80 per hour or more (which is above minimum wage). Sometimes if you work during bank holidays, you get paid more or even double.

Same as care homes, some pay more to agency workers than the others. Like four season care homes usually pay more than akari care. So if your agency give you a shift to four season care home, you will be paid more than what you will usually earn from other care homes like Akari

I don’t know how it works but I doubt there’s any January start of 2 years that will take 3 years lol. Just stated what I’ve seen from some university websites. But I’ve barely seen January start with placement though (2 years program), dont know sha

I know but it’s not always easy to get work with care home as a new arrival. That’s why I mentioned about agency

You should double-check this timetable with your prospective school to be sure...Simply because there could be deadline submissions during some holidays and that would count as term time.

Again double-check that this is okay with your schools tier 4 or international office team. Most people I know including myself waited till dissertation submission before engaging full-time work, I been no want stories that touch with time table mixup as it could vary in other schools.

STENON:
## Just some random thoughts to share with the applicant... ##
For January admission:
January- April : back to school, 20 hours work per week,
May to mid September : full time work without any restriction.
Mid September to mid December: Back to school(20 hours work per week),
mid December to early January : holiday (full time work), January to April: Dissertation( 20 hours work p/w),
April to August : Holiday( full time work, Graduation).

For September admission:
Mid September to mid December: Back to school(20 hours work per week),
mid December to early January : holiday (full time work),
January- April : Back to school, 20 hours work p/w,
May to mid August : Dissertation( 20 hours work p/w), August to October : Holiday( full time work, Graduation)

Please choose wisely undecided

PhD calendar is even more tricky, In Cranfield, apart from Bank holidays, your Holiday is arranged between you and your supervisior...There is no timetable for research students.

Again, it might be different in other schools

Oh I see.
The only advantage is the ample opportunity for one to work and pay tuition fees without much struggles. Other than that is just staying longer in a course you could finish within 8-10months

Yup. I don’t know why January is usually longer. Perhaps because of the holidays? Others can advise better

Did you check with home office if this is fine... you know it's when its Visa renewal time that issues crop up. The home office guidance is a bit vague as it just states "full time" and doesnt put a cap on hours

No limit on working hours during holiday, You sign a special form with your employer if you want to work more than a particular hour at your own convenience.

In some schools, PhD is considered ‘in term’ all year round.
So, even when you are on your ‘annual leave’, you can’t work more than 29 hours per week.

Oh i am not undermining any job, as long as it pays the bills..In the UK there is dignity in labour and every experience counts.

I just tried to get jobs I am good at and could enhance my skills, for e.g I worked as a sales advisor for Superdrug(a health and beauty store), Student ambassador, worked in call centres too(like now with NHS).

Again as long as it pays the bills....its legit, within approved working hours..Please go for it
