Oha soup known as ofe oha is a soup native to the Eastern people of Nigeria.

I once saw someone post a poison as oha soup, please that is not our oha, lol. Another sister complained the leaves were hard, fresh oha leaves are not hard.

— Oha is traditionally thickened with cocoyam(a), but you can use ofo or achi(b).

— Where I come from, the base is palm fruit extract (a), but you can also use palm oil(b).

So, for the purpose of variety/convenience/availability in cooking, wherever you see (a), feel free to substitute with (b).

— A quick guide to knowing your fresh oha, they look limp.

So, I will advise Pic 1, never Pic 2.

Poco I noticed you did not use ogili for your oha soup.Anambra people will likely always make oha soup with Ogili and Ede(cocoyam)

When you introduce the ogili into the soup the whole area will scatter.

Check again, ogiri is there in my ingredients and was added in my step 6. My head didn’t scatter though, at least na me still type the thread.

Ogiri has to be one overrated shii or maybe it is an acquired taste.

I get bored with it. I never more than a liter bowl at a time.

It is okay. Now it adds up, I am so not spiritual.

I often tell my friends the name is too simple for such a great delicacy (a particular soup has a long name but I don't fancy it as I expected so much from it because of the name ).

It is my best soup after rivers native soup.

Maybe you didn't buy original ogiri. Ogiri is spiritual, the smell is ahhh dunno how to describe it, the taste nkọ inside ọha soup hulala. I even taste mine before adding to the soup . I don't buy the already wrapped ogiri, I go for the one they measure aka nke nkonye

Oha soup without akwụ, ede and ogiri is not ọha. Achị, grounded cocoyam, quaker oat should not serve as thickener ooo
I prefer ọha to onugbu

My mum's best soup.....the woman can fit eat am.everyday.
As a child, we were used to calling it "flower soup".
