What if the engine is already burning oil and you have to top up with 1ltr every 1k mile?

Remembered Lagbajas song.

"Dagunro o seje , dagunro oseje, ise ta je tete ,a gbado je Dagunro."

Will the service protocol of a foreign used car be the same as a 3 year old vehicle?.

Felicity, you have not explained your pound / penny analysis.

Are you saying you cover 5,000km in 6 months.driving uber in Lagos . That is you service twice a year?

As per the moove cars, I just gave my opinion.

But I don't see the point of using an expensive equipment when a 2003-2007 model can achieve the same objective.

A 2016 car on #60/km and #10/min. Hmmmn , that's some serious bottom line reconciliation.

So if a request takes DT car to Atican beach/ barracuda beach... Na still movt abi?

If engine is burning oil like that, better to check pc valves and engine oil seal .. I experince similar issues like that, I was told to use heavy grade oil .. I said no , and took the car to another mechanic.. Engine cover was open ,and we found out the oil seal was worn out .. The seal was replaced and problem solved.....

So please car owners out there. Before anyone tells to start using thicker oil coz of oil burn make sure u check the basic things pc valves and ask a mechanic to open the engine cover to check for any worn out seal ... Ayodele Bishop did the job for me .. The first was a civic 03 than a Camry 07 and than elantra 08.. Also use good oil preferable USA brands.. Most cars in Nigeria now are USA imports ,it only makes sense to use USA brand oil for the car.. The oil are specifically formulated for such

Welcome back bro
Pls I have a camry 2003 I bought 2016 and due to d advice from a colleague who has been using same car for 6 years before I bought mine, I decided to be using Mobil XHP oil against the recommended oil. Everything was going smoothly until early last year wen I started noticing oil shortage and some oil stain around d engine. We check for possible leak and change all parts my then mechanic suggested we change. It only stopped for a while and d issue continued. My car is not smoking but some mechanic are suggesting ringing while some are against d idea.
Can I start using synthetic oil to stop the oil shortage or get another engine wen d fund is available?
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by adeniyiHansome(m): 11:11pm On Jul 12, 2020
Seconded.

Helped one of my guys to get his Uber account activate two days ago. I was surprise Uber can activate without going to their office.

If all your docs have been accepted, request for the online course. (this is after the usual Uber online test).

Attend the online training, pass the test and within 24 hours....u are activated.

Even Bolt that i have been helping him run after is yet to be activated now (he paid one guy to get this done....money gone.....Youverify report hanging.....later learn he was just lacking information...the process is actually open and free), all mails to them takes more than 3 days to get response at the moment. The YouVerify platform is not allowing to check status of verification.

By booking inspection on uber app, drivers onboarding is still taking place. Take note of that.

When I started doing uber, I had similar issues too . It was 03 camry .. It was using Mobil xhp. And eventually the engine was smoking too.. So I was Advice to sell the car before the smoke gets really noticeable ....

My personal advice is to sell the car .. Mobil xhp 20w50 has already damage the car .. Ringing the engine is waste of money ,because you don't know how long the ringing will last for ......sell the car before the smoke becomes too noticeable, and buyers will not want to buy

Some older cars like camry 03 can take oil abuse for certain period of time .. but modern cars or newer can't take such abuse.. Plz next time always use the correct engine oil at all times, it might seem expensive, but in reality it is cheaper than ringing or buying new engine ......

And the unfortunate person that buys the car, how is he to resolve this problem inherited from original car owner?

First thing first, welcome back to the thread.
So as per the oil burning issue, did any of the 3 cars have mileage up to 160k at the time of repair? Mine was in that region so I felt that was the reason and opening of engine dey fear me make dem no go turn engine to zombie for me

Well the next owner will go and buy new engine .. In the past I educated people on basic car maintenance ,that car owners can easily do .. I preached about using the correct oil. And using coolant instead of water . Some took my advice and others continue using 20w50 engine instead of the manufacturer advice.. Some are paying for it now ....

And this is why am not a big fan of Nigerian used cars. We have a very poor maintenance culture .. Let me give u example, one of my cars on Uber was shorting oil. I took it to two mechanics .. Without checking the engine of the car , they automatically concluded that I should use thicker oil etc .. I disagree with them , so I now took it it to a third mechanic. And I advice the mechanic to open the engine cover. And we discover the coz of the leak was the engine seal was worn out .. The seal was changed and the problem was solved....

Unfortunately this is the reality of things. People that tend to sell their cars are doing so for a reason.. It is now up to the responsibility of the next buyer to due his/her due diligence.... You can only take a horse to the stream ,but you cant force it to drink water .. After reading my post now , some people will still continue using Mobil xhp 20w50 instead of 5w30 ....

Yes all three cars were used for uber .. Most were over 140k miles ... The correct use of engine oil will prolong the life span of your engine, but am also aware that cars with high miles can also short oil .. I rather do my part by using the correct oil/fluid and let nature takes its course . So in all my three cars if I didn't follow owners manual on maintenance etc .. I will now than have two issues instead of one.. I think 1 is better than 2..

A good mechanic will take is time to open the engine..

If you expect the next owner to buy new engine then I hope you mention that amongst your selling notes.

Because all this big grammar you are speaking, if you have no inch of integrity in you, you are nothing more than an educated fraudster.

Run something down, then sell it off as top condition. #SMH "Do to other as you'd want them to do unto you".

Switching to synthetic oil will make your car burn more oil, check your pcv valve, seals or check for oil leakage, if all of the above are still good, just keep topping the oil and start saving for another engine.

Goodday all, please a friend called me that someone wants to sell a Toyota Camry 2003 for 670k last. Only issue is that the engine is smoking. I really don't know much about cars except the basics. My questions are
1. Is it a minor issue?, What are the downsides
2. If it requires changing the engine, would it be full engine or half?.
3. And what's the cost of a Camry engine half and full
