Lexusgs430: Anybody that you owe money to can place a charge on your property. They will have to go through the courts to do it. Worst still they can also force you to sell but the courts will only allow this as a last resort. Sometimes your mortgage holder might pay this debt and bung up your mortgage with charges. They will only do this if you’ve got loads of equity in the property. |

marylandcakes: Both of you are missing the point now. Anyone can place a charge on property because of an unsecured loan, the process is long winded, the court cost is prohibitive and probability of winning is so low it's not worth the effort. What is an Unsecured Loan? An unsecured loan isn't attached to any collateral. The only assurance the lender has that you will repay the debt is your creditworthiness and your word. Common types of unsecured loans include personal loans and student loans. Credit cards are another type unsecured credit, also known as revolving credit, where you essentially borrow and repay monthly. What Happens If You Default? Whenever you fail to repay a debt, it affects your credit. While unsecured loans have no collateral for the lender to claim if you don't pay, they're not without recourse if you default on the loan. Lenders can put your account into collections and take legal action against you to recoup some or all of the debt. Some lenders could also file lawsuits to recoup monies owed, and this could result in a civil judgment that would negatively impact your credit. Additionally late payments that are reported impact your credit negatively and future potential lenders will likely see that as a red flag before extending you credit. Any kind of loan default negatively affects credit scores. Collections and civil judgments also show on credit reports for seven years from the date the account first went delinquent or the date of the ruling against you. https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/secured-vs-unsecured-loans-what-you-should-know/ |

marylandcakes: From what I see .. with a limited company the person who owes the money is not the director but the company . The only way you can come for the director is if there evidence that the money was misappropriated for personal use That will be time consuming for HMRC's or the bank to do for each company during this covid. Personally I feel las Las nothing will happen but government will quietly wipe it. If government does too much gra gra, it still works against them that why did the scheme not have a better check in place . All these limited company will just be closed , declared bankruptcy case closed. However time will tell |

Hello House, My mum in law has been in the UK since feb and was due to return April end but her flight got cancelled. She flew in with BA. They have cancelled on us over 4 times now and still uncertain if they would fly next month i.e august. Her visa expired July 21st and i extended using the corona virus extension which is now valid July 31st. I am trying to call the Nigerian embassy to see if i can get her booked unto the next evacuation flight of which the date is still unknown. No response from them yet. Abeg people do we have people with the same experience? Kindly advise as i do not want her to be classed as as "overstay". |

Ace2013: My MIL is exactly the same, her return date was April although she been here since October .... however I don't think there anything to worry about. UK home office clearly states that nobody will be penalised for overstating this covid. We too have extension till July. Since the airport is still not open then that date will be extended. We are not even bothering about evacuation except maybe if we get tired of her .but for now its 9 months and counting |

Thanks for the response. I have just spoken to the coronavirus extension team at the home office and they said nothing to worry about if tthe airport isn't opened and that they are also waiting for a decision to extend the date from the home office hopefully by next week. LagosismyHome: 1 Like |

My MIL was stuck here as well and was meant to return Last April with BA. She returned with the 2nd evacuation flight about 4 weeks ago with Air Peace. You have nothing to worry about with overstay as it will be overlooked in the next application but you just need to update UKVI. I think no one knows the next evacuation as the last one was a mess. Air Peace was denied landing rights and were forced to hire a UK based flight (Air Partner) which the embassy claimed it was expensive The embassy no go ever pick so it's best to just keep an eye on their website. LagosismyHome: Banks are not stupid. People should read the details of their loan agreement very well, l know a lot of Ltd Company Directors that have fallen in this trap thinking that they are very smart. The banks know that it’s ver easy to open and close a company. They will not offer a loan to a company with no asset. Instead it is the director that has the loan that’s why it’s called directors loan on your balance sheet. When you close the company then the bank will come after you. The time of free lunch is over. There are people specially employed for this because when it comes to money people will always try to take advantage of the situation. Some companies are already paying back furlough money... watch this space.... |

marylandcakes: I agree HMRC sabi chase Reality is so many businesses are been impacted by Covid while some are taking advantage. To separate these into two bucket is not easy. Hence why it a flawed scheme where Gov will just have to cover. How many can HRMC chase |

Yep, just do a wire transfer from your bank. I did this from my HSBC & Lloyds online banking accounts to GTB dom account several times. HSBC charged £4 flat rate while Lloyds was free because I had their international account. You need to provide your naija dom account details plus SWIFT/IBAN to your UK bank. tolajay: 2 Likes |
