Hi guys , I'm new here .. Please does is make sense to apply into a college after a Bsc degree over here ? I await your response (s) , thanks.
It doesn't make sense, and if you are 21 or above, getting your visa may be hard. Re-evaluate your career plan and see where you can adjust.
I think you need a master admission.

She's right to say schools are being sympathetic with their international students home and outside the U.S. Despite covid-19, there are international students who still have GA, scholarship, and admission deferred to Spring 2021 with funding intact. Someone said here that the scholarship is on paper. I wonder if that dude is a spokesman for all the colleges and universities in the US. Just today, my sister received scholarship worth of $28K. It is not on paper; it is real. Most schools in the US are really showing empathy to their international student. A friend in Nigeria recently got 90% tuition scholarship to study her course online, and the balance can be paid when she arrives on campus in January. What you don't know don't say you know. People are finding grace where you see shadow.

Dooms day preachers, well done!

ICE just released a new regulation banning new international students from entering the country if your school is entirely online. This rule also stops consulates from issuing visas and school officials issuing I-20s to students going to schools that are online only.

Guys, permit me to dash you this 10 cent.
Contact your respective schools. most, if not all international student offices in U.S are looking for ways to help their students during this uncertain time. Tuition is being reduced to help people. Opportunity for deferment is also available, though depends on which school and course.
The guy who said funding is on paper is speaking for himself. Who remembers 2008 recession? US was mostly hit, yet many Nigerians got funding... The US schools always have money for their academic goals. Whether school lay off professors or or ask them to wait, GA roles are critical to every university's academic plans and goal. Once class resume in Spring and embassy in your country resume, schools will need graduate assistants. you can still get funding. Schools cannot offer GA on paper; this is US, not Nigeria where there's audio scholarship everywhere. They have money, and they will offer you GA if there's need.

I think The news also says we don't need to be re-issued a new I-20 if we haven't already.

Baba take it easy sha. Funding isn't always as easy as you are saying o! Some schools only fund PhD students, and these funds come from research grants and/or endowments - look it up. Also note that most employment contracts in the US are "at will", i.e. either party can pull out anytime but must inform the other before doing so. This also applies to TA, RA, GA jobs and even scholarships!

Covid has severely impacted funding to schools here, especially the loss of out-of-state tuition from incoming international students. Hence, anyone with funding at this time should count him/herself very lucky. There's no harm in advising students to seek scholarships and GA's, but don't make it seem like the money is always there. That's so untrue!

At this point it won't even matter if the embassy is not open at all. Whether you are doing online or face to face, if embassy doesn't open for fall, this rule for us is almost void.

I can attest to this. My school released a whole new scholarship line for international students that won't be able to resume on campus to reduce their fees by up to $4,000. You may not really know about your options until you ask.

Personally, I have also received some relief that is the best option for me right now without having to ultimately defer. So I implore all to ask and open your mind to being flexible.

Go and defer your admission, no America for you this 2020. No matter how many motivational speech you drop, it does not change anything.

Put your time to good use. Embassy not likely to open till September (Fall semester resumption gone ).

You are possibly right about the embassy reopening being later in the year. Deferring is not the only option though.

I wouldn’t think so! I got a mail from ISSS this week. Apparently, people still need new i20 because Vofficers require them to issue visa.

Please read. They are asking school officials not to issue I-20s to new students whose school is going fully online so without I-20 , you are likely not to be able to get a visa anyways since you need I-20 as proof to enter the US.

If you're chasing a BS, you would be right but if it's a Masters degree, the professors and advisors tend to be amazingly liberal, at least in my case. I had professors who were fine with me not showing up for in person courses and only doing things online, due to covid19, only if I was sure I could handle it.

I have two online courses and one in person course this semester, which my International Advisor said is fine. For the one course that's in person, I'll simply convince the professor to let me take the course online until the consulate opens, which is no problem.

I don't think this will work for Bachelors because in the US culture, people who take masters tend to be looked at as adults who may have jobs, children and other obligations thus they are given a huge amount of freedom by professors.

Hello guys,
My student account is showing only deficit of $30 after getting my tuition fee waived as regards my GA for my PhD Studies. When I told my Graduate Coordinator I will like to attend my courses this fall online due to increase cases of Covid-19 and continuous closure of embassies here in naija and I already got tuition remission on my account, she said it's not possible to get a tuition remission while not in U.S. She said she would contact Dean's office about it since 7days ago. No response from her and my account is still showing $30 because of the tuition remission. What do you think please.

Hi,
So i studied Quantity Surveying here in Nigeria and graduated with a 2.1 (4.34).

I'd love to go for my masters in the USA prolly next fall.

I noticed unlike the UK, the US mostly doesn't offer Quantity Surveying even at Undergrad levels.

I need a related course in this field in which i could get substantial funding.

Been thinking about Project Management, Construction management.

Please anyone with other options should please reply. Thank you.

(P.S: i studied QS against my will)

Admission is competitive especially if you need funding so the lower your gp the harder it is. However some still get admission with 3rd class. I think a good GRE score help the low Gpa ministry , and then try once you have an ok or high GRE. No venture no success

Hello
I want to confirmation on this. If I defer my admission, will my sevis ID on my 1-20 be the same as the former one? As I have paid the sevis fee based on the former sevis ID.

Please revert promptly. Thank you.

Yes your sevis number remains the same provided it is the same school that gave you the sevis ID number.
