You made me laugh, it is on Nairaland you will see people who has never catch fish try to teach others on how to catch fish.
@Cof1ex
I really do not like to tell people what to do with their money, it sounds presumptuous to me. But I will tell you what I think you should know, the 500k you are holding is losing it economic value everyday (it purchasing power). To come up with business to undertake takes time, until then put your money into an income-generating asset for the time being. Because by the end of this year the face value of the money you are actually holding might just be like 300k, even worse. You might not know the implication of this now but by next year when CPI is been released you will feel it, even established businesses will have to cut cost, downsizing and so on. Currency even dollar is devaluing as I speaks, holding Naira....lol is risky. The odds to survive is really tough in this country, especially when you know too much. Just don't rush into anything find something real(legit) you can put at least 300k of your money into that will give you back at least 90% return a year and hold the remaining cash. Because honestly this is not the time for anyone to launch into any business in Nigeria. No money outside, businesses are folding up, workers are been laid off, the odds are just against you wait until things get back to normal, you can use the opportunity to plan what you want to do thouroghly and seek out advice from people who have succeeded in the business you want to venture in. You have got more will than most successful people I know, I assure you, you will get there. Sorry for the long essay

Which treasury bill are you talking about??
This has just shown that some, if not most, of you giving advice here are just craps.
Don't advise people on what you don't have much information on.
aren't you an accountant. then why won't you know what are treasury bills

If you've ever invested in the treasury bills or visited the treasury bill thread or know the current rates, you would quickly retrieve that advice you gave him.

Just go learn a skill if you don't have one. Learn a marketable skill, and the business around it. Then put your money into that business. Look around for a high paying skill, or any skill you have a bit of passion for.

Split the money into two. Use the one part to process traveling out of this country, Canada preferably. Use the other part to start any hustle or business or learn some other skill that will make your stay abroad profitable. This country ehn. . .
and you think half of it can take me to Canada ?

Dont try any of these hustle becos you will regret it.
You need an hustle that can bring you daily income and not all this real estate or forex stuff that will drain you and also not realistic.
Anyways before I tell u wat u can venture on , I will like to knw if u have any skill and how ur locality is? What people patronize the most and what they have but just few are into it. If possible tell me about the population and what occupation do most of them do.
I started my own business after NYSC but unlike urs, instead of working part time, I was learning skills and also serving.
I learnt how to make text books , how to bind project( hard cover) and upgraded my computer skill. Along the line, favour met with preparation some one told me about where I can put my skills into use and I went down to Taraba state to start my own ICT shop and Today I have anoda branch.

Lastly, I would advice u to visit abia state, see what they do there. Spend a week there and c what they have there that is not in ogun state

Am really going to be straight here. I was able to save #200,000 through a side hustle (riding okada) early last year (jan-may) while awaiting service and up to another 100k i used for service.

I abandoned the money in a fixed deposit account and moved on for nysc... During my nysc, i found my way to the secretariat which gave me chance to do small hustle. I got a factory work which was paying me 25-35k (with loads of stress and i was settling them at the secretariate with 7k). With that, i was able to save all my allowee(#310,250) except the first that was paid in camp cash.

I traveled home during the early corona virus lock down as corpers were advised to go home or any safe place and my factory work was back sliding as materials were costly in the market. >>>

Currently am done with nysc and left my work before the lock down, critically thinking of what next to do with my life. Contemplating on staying back at ogun (sango otta) where i served or going back to abia (my state) and start up fishery or piggery, or poultry, or computer center, or dry cleaning. Just lost in thought. I know how hard i worked to gather this money, i starved myself and deprived myself enjoyment, and the shame of a graduate riding okada (as my dad was financially ok before he died 2k17). I just don't want to carry two legs put for river talk say na testing..

Please help!!!! Lala abeg push to fp

What I will do if I were in your shoes....
So far I can save up to #200k through riding motorcycle, I'll gladly buy a new one, start riding to start. Simultaneously, I'll start either a poultry or piggery business as the remaining amount could still be enough to start just one.

Six months into the business I'll then kick start the other, as sufficient money would have been raised by then.

I believe I the space of a year you will have made enough money to focus into agriculture alone thereby leaving you with the option to either sell your bike or give it out as hired purchase.
You can then start buying for people then.

My two cents ✌️

Then you can still continue using it since you still have it. Businesses are trying to get back to normalcy due to the lockdown, your best bet now is still transportation as you can do it with agriculture simultaneously.

You bike will even serve as feed transport to and fro the farm. That means you have simply combined two business together.

The bike will carry you all through the time of development of the choice of animals you want to rear.

Whichever one you choose, I wish you good luck.

As someone mentioned, find A way to earn in foreign currency, the way naira is, it's not going well

You can learn forex and get a good signal provider for a month while still in the learning phase

test the waters and see how everything goes

trading forex will only require not more than $150 ( in which in a month if everything goes well, you can double your capital depending on your risk) which is not even up to half of your money, then invest the rest on an offline something

By that, you will have two means of income

I can direct you on how to go about forex though ,that's my one kobo

Online business cannot be a starting point. You need to start earning from somewhere first.

Learn a skill.

Give yourself 2 months of consistent study to know of different online businesses. Like ten hours of reading everyday.

Get an honest mentor.

When the skill starts paying then you can go online.

I'm still an undergraduate, I will hustle like the way you did throughout your service.
1) You have 500k . My brother you can start with a small scale business with 50k. E.g. buying Nigerian rice , beans and water melon onion from northern part of Nigeria, for instance you would buy rice @ 17 transport 1 k per bag , and be you seselli it @retail / wholesales price.
2 You can also do a live stock agriculture , which you would start buying, ram, goat cow, pig fog, rabbit , even snail.
3) is paga, data selling, cable subscription , collecting daily contribution, but it is not profitable.
My brother start that no 1 and no 2.
You can start both with 150k. Keep the remaining 350

Wise man, we should partner.
