Hello
I want to confirmation on this. If I defer my admission, will my sevis ID on my 1-20 be the same as the former one? As I have paid the sevis fee based on the former sevis ID.

Please revert promptly. Thank you.
defer to when?

When I was issued my I-20 and paid the SEVIS fee. The new I-20 I was issued to include the "hybrid class" stuff, bore the same SEVIS ID. Even a previous one I was re-issued to indicate a change in resumption date, still bore the same SEVIS ID. If you're deferring to spring, I think the only thing that would change would be your program start date but I don't know about Fall 2021. Ultimately, I think you should just ask your school.

If you're chasing a BS, you would be right but if it's a Masters degree, the professors and advisors tend to be amazingly liberal, at least in my case. I had professors who were fine with me not showing up for in person courses and only doing things online, due to covid19, only if I was sure I could handle it.

I have two online courses and one in person course this semester, which my International Advisor said is fine. For the one course that's in person, I'll simply convince the professor to let me take the course online until the consulate opens, which is no problem.

I don't think this will work for Bachelors because in the US culture, people who take masters tend to be looked at as adults who may have jobs, children and other obligations thus they are given a huge amount of freedom by professors.
Are you doing it in Nigeria or US?

I hope you remember you are a grad student? If you are responding to my post with totally unrelated comment shows a sign of illness I wouldn’t share.

Pls who knows if SAT is currently administered in Nigeria amidst the pandemic

Thanks

I doubt.

Consider taking the ACT though, some of my friends just took theirs last saturday and had their scores back this Wednesday. It's purely CBT though.

I was in the US, came back to Nigeria for a visit earlier this year, but then COVID happened and my visa interview was cancelled. And yes, I'm a grad student.

How is it an unrelated comment?

Please, who knows how someone who already has a visa can travel from other neighboring countries? Since international flight is still banned here.

Do you have your I-20?
To get you started, I'll suggest you pay the Visa application fee, start your registration, fill your DS-160 form if you have your I-20 but don't pay the SEVIS fee yet, then standby till Visa interview resumes

Please, is this procedure applicable to those that deferred to Spring 2021?

You are possibly right about the embassy reopening being later in the year. Deferring is not the only option though.

Please, what other options do we have on ground?

The truth that people dont want to hear will be what they will come back to settle for... Thanks to Sheke01. No one is blaming Europe for temporarily banning Nigerians from travelling to Europe. Unfortunately, America has given a red danger(Travel not) alert about Nigeria due to the rising cases of Corona virus. They actually dont believe the Numbers coming from Nigeria

Exactly! I recall similar point was raised some months back. It is well.

It is well.

It's regrettably lugubrious, to be honest. The level of unseriousness in handling the pandemic is something else. May JAH help us. sad

I responded sir. I was asked about the course I'm interested in and I answered it to be Electrical and Electronics engineering, the CGPA is 2.0 in a 5.0 scale. And without funding.

I just saw this on the BBC Nigeria website, so it's very likely true. Only one airport has been approved for international operations based on that list. I hope that's not a mistake, and I hope it means others will follow suit soon. If I'm going to be in the US this year it has to be before October 2nd, so I guess this is good news for me... Sort of?

Oh, thanks for sharing. I wonder how such an important document would have mistakes all over it. They didn't even spell "aviation" right, that's why I initially thought it was fake. Let's keep waiting.

Why not pay and register yourself? That's what I did. I just Googled it and it costs $225 which is about 90k.
