Don't let them get to you. If you resign you're just helping them to realize their plans and wishes. They want to kick you out. If you want to leave, leave on your own terms, in your own time, and more importantly with a backup plan. Maybe a good business or better job offer. For now just focus on being good at your job, don't be found wanting, and don't take their behaviors and attitude to heart. Ignore. You are colleagues and work together but that doesn't mean you must be friends. After work hours, you have no business with them. go back to your private and family life. Examine yourself too of their are any things you're doing to encourage their attitude and stop it. Improve yourself in any of your flaws you notice. Also know that for some haters you don't even have to do anything wrong to them for them to hate on you. It's just their jealousy, envy, inferiority. If it's that just mind your biz, not your fault, nothing you can do. Their headache.

I totally understand how you feel, life is not all about money, at a point, it becomes more about fulfillment. Once you start looking forward to weekends, start dreading Mondays or it starts affecting your health, then it's time to consider quitting your job. Just have an alternative. An alternatively may not necessarily be another job, it could be something else like starting a business, travelling out etc. Then start saving or working towards that. That act alone, will divert your attention and ease the monolithic pressure brought on by your present job.
I once had a job that paid about 950k after tax and quit because it started affecting my health, and I didn't have another job, and guess what? It was in Nigeria. Was it easy after I left the job, certainly not, but I didn't regret my decision.
Don't live in fear, life is too short.

I felt this same way about my job. I resigned and proceeded for my Msc. I don’t regret leaving, just ensure you have another source of income.

I was in your shoes a year ago. I was earning over 300k and I didn’t love my job. A particular event made a difficult job so much worse and my boss didn’t like me either. So I understand how you feel.

What did I do, I resigned. But not before I carefully analysed the risk. I completed my professional exams first then I resigned without any other job lined up. My former employer usually require 3 months notice and I got another job that paid better before that 3 months period expired.

My new job pays more than twice what I used to earn. But am I happy? No, I’m still not happy. So think about that, the real reason you’re not happy may not be your job.


So my advise is to strategise carefully. For you to earn that much, you are a smart person. You can analyse and strategise better than the average Nairalander. The right decision might be to leave immediately or to wait to get some things in place first like I waited to get my professional exams completed.

You are smarter that most people who will come advising here. Most of them can’t imagine that life is more than money because many of them are still poor and desperate. I am not trying to insult anybody but when you haven’t made enough money to feed yourself for the foreseeable future, you seem to think money is the only thing that matters. Those people can take any manner of insult from their boss until they meet that basic need. I used to be like that.


But most importantly, don’t be a martyr. Don’t let them set you up. Your boss is probably looking for the perfect way to get rid of you permanently. Plan your exit carefully. Success is the best revenge. Cheers

Don't quit without a solid plan in place; you could get another job first, or have enough savings, before you resign.
