ADAM Nuru, FCMB Managing Director

ADAM Nuru, the Chief Executive Officer of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), says the alleged N573 million found in the account of Emmanuel Omale, the founder of Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministries was wrongly posted.

Nuru said this on Thursday while giving evidence at the Presidential Investigative Panel probing Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“After that report, we conducted an investigation and discovered that the lodgement which we reported to NFIU was an error,” Nuru said.

He narrated that the error occurred during the migration of their financial application from Pinnacle-7 to Pinnacle-10.

“The error was as a result of the fact that we were using a bank application called Pinnacle-7. However, we migrated from that application to a newer version called Pinnacle-10,” he explained.

“Usually, when the bank intends to migrate from one application to another, we utilise weekends to carry out the exercise. The migration involves moving all the balances of customers from the previous application to the new application. The account of the Divine Hand Ministries was moved during that migration.

“In that branch, we have 983 accounts (Banex). The credit balance in all the 983 accounts domiciled came to the aforesaid amount. It was that balance of N573 million that was wrongly posted as an inflow into Divine Hand Ministries as reported to NFIU,” Nuru added.

Magu is under probe for alleged embezzlement and mismanagement of recovered assets under his watch as the acting EFCC chairman.

In his defence, Magu said the allegations levied against him by the Ayo Salami led Presidential Committee and Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, were false, calling them attempts to bring set back to the feats achieved by the EFCC during his time as the acting Chairman.

He challenged Malami and the Presidential Committee to provide evidence that he mismanaged and looted fund belonging to the commission.

I unequivocally deny this allegation as same is untrue and merely calculated to tarnish my name, the Commission, and the giant strides this administration has achieved in the fight against corruption and recovery of proceeds of unlawful activities,” Magu said.

A report by the Presidential Investigation Committee probing corruption allegations him had earlier indicted him of acquiring a property worth N573 million in Dubai, United Arab Emirates through an unknown pastor.

The Committee which produced the report, according to The PUNCH was different from the one headed by Justice Ayo Salami, former President of Court of Appeal which is currently investigating Magu.

It was titled “Final Report of the Presidential Investigation Committee on the EFCC Federal Government Recovered Assets and Finances from May 2015 to May 2020,” published by the Federal Government-owned News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), The PUNCH reported.

Why was the money not wrongly posted to my account or anyone else not connected to Magu?
Why the account of the pastor associated with Magu and not any other customer out of million customers banking with FCMB?

When such a huge amount was wrongly posted to the Pastor’s account by such migrating app, why was it not corrected and returned to where it was meant to be?

This FCMB CEO is also meant to be arrested and jailed for false witness, concealing the fact and not respecting the oath he took before appearing in front of the panel.

The Omale's connection

A report by the Presidential Probe Panel has shown details of how Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), allegedly used a cleric to launder funds abroad.

Magu is currently being interrogated by the panel headed by retired Justice Ayo Salami over allegations of lack of transparency in managing recovered assets and mismanagement of EFCC.

A copy of the report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Saturday in Abuja disclosed that the founder of the Divine Hand of God Prophetic Ministry, Abuja, Dr Emmanuel Omalewas was used by Magu to launder funds.

Omale’s name was uncovered through an investigative report on EFCC’s activities by the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and mentioned in the final report of the Presidential Committee on Audit of Recovered Assets (PCARA).

The report added that the unknown Pastor is alleged to have bought a landed property on behalf of Magu worth N573 million in Dubai, United Arab Emirate.

Another individual who is helping in laundering funds for the Acting Chairman and who has been referred to in several petitions is one Pastor Emmanuel Omale of the Hand of God Prophetic Ministry.

He’s reported to have travelled to Dubai with Mr Magu, and his name was used in purchasing a property in Dubai for Mr Magu.

As an unknown pastor, the NFIU’s report showed the huge movement of funds ranging from N573,228,040.41,” the report said.

However, efforts had been intensified to reveal the real identity of the Pastor and to arraign him for prosecution if found culpable.

Magu is being held at the Police headquarters in Abuja.

He is expected to reappear before the Salami probe panel on Monday, to defend himself against several allegations.

What a monumental mistake ....
How on earth would such amount of money be mistakingly posted to somebody's account just like that ....

All these pinnacle 55 talk is balderdash , it makes no sense at all - what kind of coincidence is that , it seems these people fail to realise that some of us still have brain in this country !!

This Magu's case would be a confirmation of Buhari's pretentious corruption battle !!

How Fcmb my bank got itself involved in this poo saddens me. Even an elementary one pupil know dat this bank boss is not only lying but mocking our collective intelligence. In a country of over 180 Million persons d probability that it's Magu's confidant that d migration app will drop money into his account is not likely. Just hope this cover-up was not caused d network transfer problem Fcmb experienced over a week recently.

Even a non professional in the banking business knows that the testimony of the Fcmb managing director does not hold ground. It goes a long way to explain the high rate of aiding and abetting of crime in the Nigerian system

Damn! The corruption fight under Buhari is a sham and a disgrace to the sensibilities of every normal human being.

Alhaji musa said this morning that nothing will come out of this probe and he is right. They are only deceiving themselves.
