At today rate, your 1 million is equivalent to $2,096. It means you have not even started. One small mistake and you are back to square 1.
1. Open a dom account, covert your money to USD and keep it in there so inflation wont wipe our the value.
2. Get a job or learn a business.
3. Further grow your savings.
4. Invest a portion of no 1. in a usd mutual fund.
5. Get someone experienced to mentor you in whatever career path you choose.
6. Dont leave your parents house until you have grown your net worth to at least $50k.

Can you please elaborate on point 4. I am interested. Thank you

I read pages 1-3. And the poster failed to answer the question about how consistent is his earnings.

Better use the 1 million and get a land. Your parents have already given you the best advice.

"Freedom" is not an investment. Pack out? Are your parents pursuing you out of the house?

Totally agree. But I think he can divide the money into two. Use a part to procure land, that will appreciate over time. Then use the other part to invest in other business. You can do venture capitalism, if that works for you. Don't mind those devils asking you to pack out to get unnecessary freedom oo, they will be excited to hear about your "how I made a wrong decision" story in future.

Be wise.

Isnt it a good thing to be a virgin as a man? i wonder why you guys think it's falling of hands for a guy to be virgin,be a good boy and remain decent.I have been searching for a virgin husband to marry within the age bracket of 30-35,it seems to be in total extinction but I'm still hoping,so you should be proud of your virginity as man,its a pride for men also

Im also 25, earn close to 4m annually net, and still live with my parents. At this point in my life, "freedom" is the least of my worries. Trying to build a very solid foundation for myself (career) first while I enjoy the free accommodation and feeding. Life will become easier for you bro. Think this through.
You get sense well well. I don't know why one will be thinking of unnecessarily upping the banking account of one landlord just because of "freedom" or the vain need to feel like a man when one could keep saving and making better investments.

Your parents idea of acquiring a land is the best for you to do now since lands appreciate handsomely.
Just get the land in a very good site, in less than 2yrs from now you'll make double of the amount you paid for it.

You can contact me via 07046405099
I have so much to tell you.

Which location would you advice one to get land from? Like how much is a plot?

Haha at your age I had 3m still living with parents and taking it slowly. I won't advice that u buy a land and don't be too quick to move out. The most important thing is how do u continue to earn more money. This thought alone could lead u to starting a business and when you have bought the land or secures a apartment, how do u start the business then. At 25 u have a long way to go and throughout the journey, na money u need oo.

Good evening Nairalanders.

Please i need an advice on the next step i should take in life. I am a guy, 25 years of age and still living with my parents, though i am not jobless but recently my bank account just hit one million and 200 thousand naira.

So my parents are advising to buy a landed property in my home town that will take about 900 to 1 million naira. But the thing is that i am 25 and i feel at my age i should no longer be staying with my parents, so i want to rent a flat and furniture it to my taste, i feel it is time to move on, i need my freedom to finally face life like a man.

So my question is, should i purchase a landed property at 25 and continue living with my parents or pack out and start my Adult life. Note: i am not jobless".

How much rent per annum will you get on this property if you buy it?
What percentage of returns on your investment will that be and how that compares with the best interest on savings/fixed deposit you can get?
You better invest your money wisely (not in some vainglorious home town property that does not give the best yield vis-a-vis inherent risks) and stay with your parents as long as possible, until you want to marry sef.

[quote author=Turningmoon post=93038741]1 million may no be enough except you are sure of how you are going to use it. Depending on it may not be sustainable enough to keep you.

Good evening all. Please I'm a private school teacher with kids and a bedridden husband. Since the close down of schools due to the current pandemic, as a bread winner of the family, I didn't waste time to jump into trading by selling by the road. This is where I make daily bread for myself, my kids, aged mother and the sick hubby (I pray he gets back on his feet soon). Last week, a task force team against street trading came and went away with all my goods. They are asking me to pay N20,000 to get back my goods. Honestly, there's no such money anywhere in the family please. This has taken our daily bread away from us as nothing to eat again. Please I need your financial assistance to enable me get back my goods. Even if it's what can put food on our table as we have been seriously starving. Thanks and may God richly bless you.

My guy take am slowly oh, if your source of income is legit then I will advice you to reinvest that money in other to yield more captial, well I can teach you how to make money through mini importation tho

Mini importation have turned many Nigerians into millionaires.
Imagine buying women's designer bags for 5000 naira and selling for 25000 naira.
That's pure 20k profit on one product
Just selling 5 of that bag will give you 100k.
Some products are very easy to sell compared to others
Things around weight loss, health, women's beauty, fashion, electronics, gadgets sells very well in Nigeria
I remember selling a 10 naira pink lips balm for 2000 naira.
I don't need to tell you how hot this product is
The profits in this business is too much mehn

Obey your parents, buy a plot of land and years down the road, that land will generate interest if you decide to sell it. Dont rent, I repeat, dont rent, you are simply throwing your money away.

If i were in your shoes i would invest the money and see it double they is nothing wrong with staying with your parents infact you are more secure with your parents than when you are alone undecided but bear in mind that every decision you take has risk and you should be ready to face the consequence
