It is not as easy as you think. packing and furniture to my taste will take nothing less than 800k. but i am 100% able to pay the yearly rent and take care of myself. while a land will take me nothing less than 900k but i will continue staying with my parents and i will then start husling for another money for rent again in years to come which wont be easy.

At ur age I had just #360,000 and I must commend u that u have really tried and thank ur parents for directing u on what to do at this young age.
My brother, listen to the voice of ur parents, instead of looking for an apartment to rent and furnish, rather go purchase that land and thank me later.
I was in this same shoes when I was young like u I wanted to buy a car which i could have really regretted but I purchased a land instead and continued doing what fetched me that amount of money.
Advice:
1.Do not move out yet since u are working and not a liability to ur parents.
2. Purchase the land and thank me later.
3. Plan when u really want to move out and inform ur parents about it,make it look like a goal.
4. And finally,May God bless u.

In that years to come, you will see reasons why you should avoid paying rent and using the money to develop your own house. In the years to come, you will be happy that at least I have a land of my own. Just buy the land, struggle for another one to two years, by that time, you can decide if you want to spend money on rent or own your own house.
Anyway, staying alone as a single man is more expensive than staying with your parents. I bet you, you will not be able to save such amount of money within the same period of time if you are living alone.

stop twisting my post and it's your problem if you didn't believe it was my friends story, deal with it

Sweetie, you know you don't have be ashamed about it. You are a normal human being with hormones and it's normal to have a healthy sexual appetite and respond to an external stimulation from a good looking guy, even tho you made a pledge to yourself to remain a virgin.

And if you ask me I'd say you're still a virgin. Technically though. That is if you did not later give in to his constant pesterings and allow him to puncture your hymen with his dick.

Good evening Nairalanders.

Please i need an advice on the next step i should take in life. I am a guy, 25 years of age and still living with my parents, though i am not jobless but recently my bank account just hit one million and 200 thousand naira.

So my parents are advising to buy a landed property in my home town that will take about 900 to 1 million naira. But the thing is that i am 25 and i feel at my age i should no longer be staying with my parents, so i want to rent a flat and furniture it to my taste, i feel it is time to move on, i need my freedom to finally face life like a man.

So my question is, should i purchase a landed property at 25 and continue living with my parents or pack out and start my Adult life. Note: i am not jobless".

My Brother Brother follow your parents advise. That money is too small for that shakara! Go ahead and buy the land, in two years that land might be worth 2 or 3 times the amount. Your parents are using the wisdom of elders to advice you. They are not in a hurry for you to leave. Appreciate that fact. One million is not a huge amount for you again. You hit it again even faster than you made the first one.

JEJELY find your own place to live... instead of buying land so you can stay even longer under your parents wings. BE INDEPENDENT AND DO WHAT YOU DESIRE WITH YOUR LIFE instead of staying like a hen under your folks. i guess they are not ready to cut the ties.... harder for them, than you it seems.

if you are as smart as you seem to be, you can buy land when you are ready/willing to do so in the future.
you can do both if you plan it well

@CuteVally,
Unless you have a sustainable means of income, N1 million is small. Furnishing a home to taste can consume a considerable portion of that.

There are many good advise here already and some are so devilish and misleading but let me add to the good once that says you should take it slowly, allow your God to continue to guide and don't forget that your parent too are your small god...pls seek God's guidance!

Why are you moving out What is the reason, is it related to Nacking and banging babes ? Or to be doing drugs (smokingand drinking? Or you just want to feel like a man grin answer these questions truthfully brother before you make the move .1.2million naira is change (small money)especially as you don't have a steady source of income . If you move out too soon ,you may end up moving back in shamefully and that is when all respct for you will be lost in front of your parents.pikin wey tie wrapper when in never reach , when better breeeze blow, e go carry the pikin and the wrappers

It's not a bad idea, either but don't you think you will be exposing your self to spiritual haters, since you're still working, rent an apartment moderately,be comfortable then continue to save more, pray seriously about it too then plan to marry guess you're educated already then make plans to buy the land you should be close to 30 by then

Bro..1m isn't much money..tho there is a reason why you feel this rush of energy..many of us passed this stage and 99% percent made some mistakes..my bro don't be afraid to make a mistake because thats how you Will learn better no matter your smartness..the money will be squandered thats for sure even b4 we finish responding to this thread, whether u pack out or u stay there ..buying the land would only justify how u spent it..but don't be afraid..the way it happened for others may not be the way your own will be..so take the leap of faith and take the risky jump but make sure ur actions are wise..moving out, buying land they r all wise..my only advise is keep ur dick within the zip..and when next u make money if you are not sure yet on what to do..keep shut
change the money to dollars..and chill a little..pray also for Gods mercy and direction...money has its own spirit..u need to learn how to tame it..else you cant hold it.

Not a bad idea, uncle is your income consistent? If you pack out and live on your own cos that's what is hungering you now,let me use the hungering cos you don hammer ni hope you won't return back to your parents to look for money when landlord starts knocking or are you planning to build a house of your own... okay secondly why are you in a haste to move out,Sha it's not bad to ask I would have suggested you invest the money into something that can be of help to you in future, well which ever choice you take place your priorities right, live right,be clean and pure, Jesus loves you cheesy

In your own opinion, do you consider a land a good investment?
first, 1million is not money to even make you think of moving out of your parent's house, it is a chicken change in current Nigerian situation. That money cannot even rent you a flat in most estates in Lagos to talk of furnishing it to your taste like you said.

Cost of furniture too have increased due to Naira inflation, so forget about packing out and think about increasing your income at all cost even if you are working now.

I am sure what you did or doing to earn that money doesn't bring you up to 200k monthly income so don't consider that a reliable job to relax and feel arrived cos you haven't.

At 25 which was many years ago I already bought a car, living alone and had a business, so don't scream too much about your 1 million savings in 2020 as a 25 years old guy cos it's like 1 kobo today.

I know the only reason you feel pressure to pack out of your parents house to rent and furnish your own apartment is to give you enough freedom to start bringing girls and be having fun in the name of freedom, that will cost you a lot and even derail you from making more money if you don't take caution now.

You are lucky to have parents living in the city, who also have a shelter to shelter you, 98% of Nigerian youths don't have what you have so don't throw it away in the name of wanting to be a man at 25yrs with 1 million naira savings lol that's not even enough money to rent house in most top Nigerian cities today.

Don't buy any land in your hometown, except your home town is in Lagos mainland developed areas which I doubt, or Owerri main town in Imo state or Onitsha main town, these are the few Nigerian cities that land appreciate faster. Don't buy the land if it's in Epe Lagos or Badagry Lagos or Sango or Ibadan or Kogi they call Abuja oh, you will need to wait another 50yrs for the land you bought 1million in those areas to appreciate to 1.2million cheesy

Save that money in a separate bank account and pretend like you are broke and continue to work on whatever gave you the money, while you research some Internet based work from home business you can be using part of that savings to do as a side hustle to boost your income to like 300k monthly before you then start thinking of moving out of your parents house.

And before you move out of your parents house, buy a good durable car, make sure you have a good side business aside your job that earned you the money you have now, and make sure you have at least 5 million naira savings or a steady income of at least 200k monthly.

You can set a target to leave your parents house at 30yrs and have a savings of 5 million, a car and a side business.

You can still be dating a girl you would consider for future marriage while in your parents house, what you may need to make the relationship sweet is even a clean car not just a house alone.

You are still broke so keep thinking like a broke guy and think of ways to increase your monthly or daily income than thinking of freedom and moving out of your parents house.

Not all lands are good investment, viable or profitable business venture is 1 million times better than buying landed property.

Nigerians over hype owning a land or house, yes they are good investment, but only good for people who have a steady income or business or job and looking for where to keep some of their savings instead of banking the money, not good for someone still struggling to earn more money to go tie his capital on one mumu landed property and be feeling arrived, it's a stupid nonsense lesson lazy Nigerians learnt from fake motivational speakers and books written when the world was still developing or evolving angry

Pack out and face life?

Aren't you facing life already?

At 25, you still have at least 3years before you can start considering leaving. You're not a burden to them so take your time, use the benefit of staying in your father's house my brother to propel yourself higher.

You move out now, weekends now your guys go dey show for shayo et al.

Chillax bro, there is step for everything in life, u don't av consistent or secured job u are thinking of buying a land even if u are to buy pls don't buy it in a village coz it will never appreciate to a reasonable value. At that ur age I also had 1.1 Mill and I invested in farming and loss over 600k b4 I restragise and currently on about1.7milli, bro am a graduate and just finished my NYSC av never for once think of moving out of my father's house thou I get an apartment in other state coz my business is mobile. Just try to be focus and determine then continue to save so that u can start ur personal business with huge capital. Even thou my work is secured coz it's my father's business, am not under anybody yet am still thinking of setting up my personal business by saving enough capital coz it's achievable. Good luck bro, I wish you all the best.

The best is to buy land. Don't be in a hurry to move out since you are not getting married now. you can safe up money which will be used to rent an apartment since you are not jobless. Landed property appreciates and you can never regret acquiring it. If u r in Lagos, I could help you get in good location.

Where on earth can you buy land for 500k and sell for 10M in 2 years? /\*
lefulefu:
just purchase land .land is one of the highest security asset u can get.it improves in price overtime.today u might be dat land for 500k..in two yrs time u might be selling it by ten million
on the issue of weda to remain with ur parents or stay alone that decision lies with u.
PS
Dont spend the money on ashawo and alchohol ooo cheesy
cos thats the normal thing an average nigerian youth does once he gets money
small money just enter a youth hand and the next thing na pussy im don dey tink about
u spend dat money anyhow within a month everything go finish cos if u like am 1 million naira is not that much huge if u compare our naira currency to other global currencies.
so spend d money wisely

Oh boy, go and buy land. Buy hectares of land. That's a great investment for you now. The land that you buy for 900m thousand today, you will definitely reap x10 of it in the next 10 years. Hustle hard and get your apartment later after this. I'm a land a business consultant and I know what I'm saying with the past experience I had encountered.
