I wouldn’t understand what is shocking about being denied visa denial without biometrics.

We blow things out of proportion and that is why people less often share their visa refusal here.

It is common knowledge that a two stage approval process was rolled out. Meaning visa applications will be reviewed without biometrics. Anyone that doesn’t meet requirements for the first stage (including those without biometrics) will get denied. Simple. I then wouldn’t understand why visa denial will be shocking? Especially when we all have an idea of the insane success rate for Canada study permit applications.

Good morning all.

Please for those that have done biometrics, does your biometrics still show ‘we have not received your fingerprints ...’ ? I did my biometrics on Monday and even though my app now has the biometrics no in the same place where we have UCI and Application No, the biometrics place in the progress section still has ‘we have not received your fingerprints ...’ It’s this normal?

Good morning All,

I am seeing "proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees" on the Canadian and Immigration website as part of the checklist to be uploaded for submission. Please has anyone had a similar experience. Must i payment tuition and accommodation fee before submitting my application. Because did not require payment of tuition from me for now before issuing unconditional acceptance letter. I plan to pay this in January 2021 when i resume.

My gurus and egbons in the house, please advice?

Actually this is good.
It shows your application is still on track.

After first refusal of my brother, the second application since Feb4th got a request to provide parent consent form that allowed him to stay with a custodian. After uploaded, he got the AIP and followed by medical request which he will go for tomorrow.

At times, IRCC do request applicant to make payment for school fees if they are to continue processing application or to issue visa.

It's a good sign for you.
Don't panic

Gurus in the house, please I need some advice. I applied June 10th submitted with upfront medical and police certificate. Eligibility and background check still been reviewed.i have sent a web form to verify IRCC has received medical from Qlife and was replied that they received it and application is still in progress.i’ve recently sent a second web form to let them know school is resuming soon. Question: should I apply for GCMS note now since application has been about 10weeks or I should still exercise patience and expect a reply from the web form? Thanks for the expected reply

Apply for the GCMS notes let's know what's stalling the application from receiving any updates thus far. Hopefully the notes would give us the current status of your file.

My fear exactly, Because the medical request reads that if your medical isn’t received within 30 days,It will be rejected
so everything is just confusing now

Hi @Osemigho,

Thanks for the additional insights. I agree with your analysis that each PhD recruitment experience is unique. Let me add that I have seen several cases where supervisors agreed to take a candidate but the application is unsuccessful when it gets to the admission committee. You provided exhaustive explanations about this already.

However, I think factor(s) that explain the observed differences in applicants' experience may be related to the course traditions and/or program policies. In a few programs (maybe not necessarily in Canada), it is not encouraged for candidates to contact any professors in advance while in most others, it is a major determinant for your application to be considered.

In general, for programs requiring securing a supervisor in advance, the more commitments you can get (as @Osemigho mentioned), the better your chances.

Thanks.
Osemigho:

Hi, you are provided an excellent response to the case and you are right that PhD is very very competitive. However, I don’t think there is enough evidence to conclude that the response is generic assuming that the applicant requested for supervision.

I would clarify the response if I am the one, based on my personal experience and knowledge. I also have another mentee, seeking admission for Fall 2021, that got similar response and I advised him to clarify it. The prof responded and confirmed that the candidate can name him/her on the application.

The truth is some professors don’t usually have time to provide elaborate response to things like this. It is the least thing on to-do-list since they can recruit student locally or at conferences.

Also not all feedback require video interview and the rest. After applying, I did not get admission in schools with prof that interviewed me and reviewed my research proposal multiple times. I was offered admission at UofCalgary where no profs interviewed or reviewed my proposal. All I got was confirmation email responding to the original one I sent to them.

In conclusion, although there is a general supervisor search and graduate admission pattern, I would say every case is unique and each candidate must treat it as such.

All the best.

Happy Sunday Team, may this week bring good tidings to all hopefuls Amen.. Safe journey to everyone traveling to get their biometrics done.. May it be worth the effort in the end.. Amen

Those that have received GCMS which must be via third party, pls did u submit again to cancel the Appointment of a Representative afterwards?

The representative for ordering a GCMS note is not the same as an authorized/licenced compensated representative that could advice you or prepare an immigration application on your behalf. Therefore, you don't need to cancel any appointment of a representative afterwards.

Please does the phone number you use in booking your biometrics appointment have and play in doing the appointment at all?

The phone number I used to book is back in another state, and my biometrics appointment is tomorrow.

Please I need a response.
