This is really terrible. They did something similar to my brother when I was in Lasu like 10 years ago. I swear, we left with what we paid for. You should have reported to those Market association people.

However, Next time, go to the warehouses in Alaba to get Tokunbo electronics. Most of those guys in the shops are frauds.

Lols na old trick
Was a victim once in 2016 for a 50 inch LG LED TV. After we agreed price and receipt was issued the boy told me it doesn’t work with antenna or dstv decoder. I can only use it with a DVD player. I asked his boss he said that’s true and I was like you guys never told me this before I paid and they were like I didn’t ask. I jejely googled the model number on the back of the TV since they wanted me to pay extra 30k to convert it and found out it was a lie but I never argued. I just told them not to worry I’m going with the TV like that only to be told I can’t go with my 50 inch TV and I should check my receipt that I paid for a 32 inch screen. God so good he wrote a rubbish model number on the receipt. I just kept the receipt well and told him to refund. They said No and I laughed and left them. Called my guys in the barracks and they said I should just come to the barracks so we can all come back. I got to the main road to take a bus but never knew one of them had been following me and the guy started begging I should not go but his boss has been calling me to come for my TV. I laughed in my mind collected it and gave them 2K

I just dey give stupid excuse, I want higher GHz processor etc. I knew it was crap but I boxed in, they were like 4 in the corner shop, I have 40k plus cash in my pocket bulging out. They were eyeing me hungrily, one of them got tired of me and started formatting his laptop that I must buy it since his own is 2.8 GHz processor. We never talk price u don dey format laptop, sharp sharp I calculate dey yawn dey stretch like say I wan collect breeze. One of these boy boy almost pull the same thing on me with building materials. The funny thing is within minutes all of them go come gather around you defending the seller. My own no funny at all cos I know the way of the street and as one of them put mouth I help am address the mouth very well. Nobody told them before they refund the money when they found out I live on the same street, key advice is to be very aware in this Nigeria oooo, I'm not trying to be tribalistic in this particular matter but Everytime this has happened, we all know those usually involved. One day over smartness go lead to another thing but until then, do business with this kind of people with 4 or more eyes on your side.

This clearly shows you're also running the same scam.what is greed there!
If a buyer bargain for a certain stuff, and the seller is not okay with the pricing,he can just turn down the price and tell the buyer to try next shop, not to scam him.You guys(alaba boys) have been running this scam for a long time.
In 2012,I dashed my home theater out, then proceeded to Alaba market to buy another set.The guys tested it for me,we agreed on a price, and the gen was switched off.A receipt was written for me,I signed and paid.Told them to wrap it for me,..lo and behold...I was told that I bought woofer only!.
Then the arguments started,I was told to read my receipt,WOOFER only was what was written on the receipt.WTF.
I told them to return my money that I'm not buying again,(for where).I even told them that I will pay 1k for the receipt,(no way).I had to settle with a small home theater system.
Bro with all due respect avoid me. Its no offense to me if you classify "we" Alaba guys as scammers. No insults but some items remain for the elite few. Those who would put down money for a long time item workability. I am proud to be an Alaba boy.

AlabaConnect or what is your name? there is no iota of greed in pricing a tokunbo electronics in any amount of your choice, I pray you experience this one of this days and you will never forgive your tribe when other tribes are sleepless duping foreigners and not Nigerians like them.
There is whats called pricing to a fault. I do understand what you are saying but most times you just have to have an idea of the likely price of what you want to get or a likely substitute. Let me give you a scenerio. You go to a seller to get an original Samsung 40" smart tv of 85k and you are pricing 50k. Most of these hustlers want to sell so they would want to give you a close cloned substitute at your budget while still making their own profit. They will build on your wanting to get a big item for "SHIKINI" money. I hope you get

Upon the warnings that scam knows no tribe, you are hell bent on blacklisting the Ibos. Do I tell you my encounter in Computer Village in 2016. Where in broad day light and on two different occasions, I was scammed by Yoruba guys. I have noticed something about some of you Yoruba’s here. Not all, but minority among you people. Why do you guys like labelling others bad.

You hardly see Ibo people tainting you people the way you do them. If people begin to give account of their bad experiences with scammers from your tribe, many of you won’t like it. Scam know no tribe, as a matter of fact it is a Nigerian syndrome that has eaten deep into our fabrics.

The first time I was scam was when I went to buy a Laptop in Computer village. Despite the warnings not to patronize those without shops, I foolishly bargained with one dude they call Taiwo. I paid him cash and he gave me receipt for a used I Core 3. It was when I got home that I began dancing to the music. I tried switching on the Laptop on, kole work. To the extent of running back to Computer village the next day to complain to the guy. You’re even lucky that you can complain to taskforce in Alaba. In my own case, the Taiwo denied ever meeting me, neither selling any item to me. The other of his colleagues supported him and that was how the case ended. I even had to take the Laptop to a repairer within that axis to repair, but lo and behold, when he opened the Lapi, it was filled with loosed wires and dead panel.

Is it the second time again in 2017, same Computer village. Oga take time o. Everyone have had bad experience with scammers irrespective of tribe. Stop that holier than thou attitude you dey display here.

Show us proof like the OP has and we will discuss it here and help track down the criminals (not praise them for being smart), otherwise you are just telling a story. Only a JJC on nairaland will say he doesn't know when Igbos were painting Yorubas in all colors because of hushpuppy that was condemned by many reasonable Nigerians both igbos and Yorubas.

You spoke out my mind.
I have been a crusader of this point for years.
The people are the problem.
Our day to day life on the streets isn't different from what is happening at the top.
But Hyposrisy won't allow us take responsibility.

You know my pain?
All of them will go to mass on Sunday morning and drop offerings from the cursed money.

The preachers sometimes won't even preach against such.

You guys should quit calling Preachers and refer everything to Offerings because of your hate against Christianity. The few good Preachers preaching against the bad attitude do it but these bad Nigerians are just something else.
The problem is our cultural setting whether Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, etcetera. Our cultural setting respects only money and those with it and this is where the problem lies.

embarassedi went to Alaba international market to buy a set of Tokunbo Home Theatre. Luckily/ unfortunately for me i asked around and i was directed to a shop where i would find my choice. I got to the shop and i specifically told them I want a SAMSUNG Home Theater and the search began. They tested 3 diferrent sets but the last one got my attention and I asked for the price.

The seller (shop owner) told me it was 55k and i negotiated it to 25k and he asked me pay. I requested for his account details but he declined saying he doesn't take transfers. I quickly went to use POS, came back and asked for the SAMSUNG SETS i had priced be tested to avoid foul play. It was tested and i confirmed it. I paid, receipt was issued to me but without going through my receipt, I wrote my name and signed because i never suspected scam.

Now, it was time for me to leave with my purchases and the boy boy told me "the engine/DVD to the home theater i bought does not support or work with electricity but strictly works for only generator ". I asked him to repeat himself and he did. The statement didn't make sense to me. He then suggested he could swap the engine/DVD of the SAMSUNG Home Theater i bought for another one that uses electricity. I sensed foul play and asked him why he didn't tell me these before making payment.

Note: the owner of the shop had gone out when boy boy was telling me this.
Luckily, he came back to meet us arguing. I narrated what his boy told me about the sound system they sold for me he affirmed to it that the engine/DVD doesn't use electricity. I got confused and demanded for a refund. These guys refused. Insisting I take another DVD...i refused either that i preferred what i bought. They refused me going with what I bought. This infuriated a lot of noise and here comes in an elderly man who claimed to be the landlord of the shop.

He asked me what was wrong, i told him and he slapped the Boy boy. At this point, i knew I was being scammed but was helpless as well. It was just only me against Alaba boys. The elderly man asked me to calm down that he was there to help me out bla bla bla and requested to see the receipt that was issued to me me. Lo and behold, the subwoofer and the other 3 small speakers was not included in the receipt. They only wrote the engine/DVD they claimed doesn't use nepa light and even boldly put NO WOOFER & NO SPEAKERS. (indirect or indirectly, i only paid 25k for just the DVD player )

The truth was, i never saw these errors before the arrival of the elderly man. he pointed out the errors and finally told me they don't refund money in ALABA that it was all a trick and the trick was for me to pay any amount cos the sound system i bought was more than 25k that i would have to add more money for me to go with it. I insisted i don't have more money to add and they insisted i take a Chinese product. I no gree.

To cut it short, i finally found out the elderly man was part of them. His job was to distract and calm their victim down. At the end of it all, i only got the subwoofer and 3 small speakers. The ENGINE/DVD was not given to me.

This was my sad experience today in the hands of some heartless Nigerians.

Bros, take heart. That was how I was scammed in 2005 , I can't forget. I went to buy Samsung R220, they tested it and the phone was working. I paid and ask the guy to package the phone. When l brought out the phone and inserted my sim into the phone all the networks disappeared. I called the attention of the guy and he asked me, " Do you want to sell it or use it. I told him it's for personal use moreover whatever I wanted to use it for shouldn't determine it's network connectivity. He told me that They have to work on the phone at extra cost before the phone can start receiving network signal. My brother, it wasn't funny at all. I told him l only have my transport left. We started moving from one shop to other claiming he is searching for the part for over three hours. At the end , l have to take another phone of lesser quality instead of losing all. Check very well, it's common with a particular tribe.
