Can i get your number please?

I cannot drop my number here but I may send you an email on the condition that you DON'T ask me questions like how did I get my job or where you can get a job slot. Strictly professional self development conversations.

Well Sociology is a very good and solemn course. Remember that you have to do a lot statistics which easily makes you a good data analyst, all you need is a good knowledge of computer and Microsoft spreadsheet program. Always look out for data analyst positions. All the best
Thanks

As a sociology you are most qualified to work in any human endeavour. Anywhere human beings are is your place of duty. I am a sociologist, have an M.sc Criminology and i am the regional manager in a well reputable insurance company. My course/class mates are all doing very very well. Some are in the Nigeria military, many in DSS, some in NPF, some in customs, some in the banking sector, 5 are legislators.
Good luck!

Thanks
This goes a long way

I read Sociology. I don't regret it.. I am Currently an Health Entrepreneur but applying all my sociological skills while on the job.

Done NGO jobs, civil service, customer services in private sector, and many others before I decided to pick a societal problem and focus on it which is what sociology is all about. Am proud of the few people whose life I have been able to lighten up with the problem I solve. Am still a work in progress. Never stopping.

Change your mindset about certificates and jobs. Sociology exposes you to societal problems and develops your critical thinking abilities to solve those problems. It's broad and helps you fit anywhere.

The first thing people ask me when they meet me is if I am a medical doctor. Lol. I only read Sociology but as a problem solver and with my research abilities, I know much more than your doctor.

I bet that even if you had not studied sociology, you'd still be doing the current job you're doing. That is because it is in you. You have had this gift. It's not a university lecturer and his obsolete hand out who gave you the tools you currently have. However, OP may not have that gift. There are a lot of free resources online that will empower you in sociology. This is why it is always better to go into a professional field first. You can always circle back to your passion. Even Accounting, Engineering, Architecture, Nursing all deal with solving societal problems. There are medical doctors who are acting, they didn't study theatre arts.

What is your passion? What do you need to survive? Focusing on passion only can make you a lazy person. Do things that are difficult but with good potentials. It's a pity that after all the suggestions here you're still asking how to make a difference.

You have made your right choice by following your instincts. Do not let the negatives in this thread be your narrative. To succeed is a personal choice/race. Start each day by telling yourself what you want and see it happening.

A first degree most times just tell that you can be trained as such, you can pick up roles in many industries of your choice.

Most importantly, while in school, focus on your studies and build yourself as well. Get the necessary exposure by joining socioacademic groups like AIISEC. Create a LinkedIn account and make the right connections and follow up with them. Do not make the mistake of requesting monetary favors rather ask for mentorship. Try to organize a meeting with one mentor monthly just to learn what they did that made them successful.

Above all, may the odds be in your favor.
how can i join such groups?

AIISEC is on campus and it is global. You can indicate interest in the international body and they will link you to your local chapter.

I took an Elective in Sociology and i can tell you that it was the most eye-opening course i ever took. It has helped me all my life to understand behavioral patterns in society & most importantly during the COVID19 lockdown.

Sociologist are extremely important to advise govts at such a time like this that society is adversely impacted & can lead to multiple types of deviant behavior; suicidal tendencies etc

Seriously in the present time, reading some courses is almost tantamount to wasting of time..

U may be one of the very lucky microscopic few that'll land a job...

The course and the likes of pub admin, political sciences and the so Called Para medical courses na waste of valuable time..

With due and utmost respect, you're a dunce for categorizing Political Science as a waste of time. I am proud to be Political Scientist and I'm proud of the little height I have achieved with my certificate so far.

Stop stereotyping.
