Jamb is where the failures of Nigeria as a country starts, why must everything relating to jamb be so stressful? So the people at Jamb did not put into consideration that some of the aspirants must surely one way or the other lose their phones and sim card? There should be multiple ways to do something so simple as change of course but the dull people working at jamb would obviously never think of it. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Can you just imagine 80% of the citizens of this nation are damn corrupt. They are out with different kinda fraudulent ways to make quick money. Illegal means is a way of life to some Nigerians. Can you imagine how many people this kind of thing can put in jeopardy.
The mom was using a number for 5 whole years, never knowing that it was another man's profile with his picture that was registered at MTN by criminals!! There was a nation! Ya the citizens are corrupt but APC politicians are saint. We should criticize the citizens and praise the politicians. 3 Likes |

Thanks a lot Sir, but it seems you didn't understand what I am about to say. To register for jamb in the first place one has to send a text to a particular number then he will received a code.
Now to change your course one has to send a text using that number choose the option of course change make the payment before going ahead with the change of course in his jamb profile. Check the email. To change course, they only need the profile code to access his profile. You were only asked of the telephone line because the text msg was sent there. 3 Likes |

itzzkhaliii: Greetings to elders, I have so much respect for this forum as person they struggle with one isissue I say ma carryam come elders forum.
It all began last 2- weeks when my brother wanted to apply for his P-UTME exam. But to do so the school he applied for required him to change his course as his cut off mark for the course he applied before hasn't reached. This is necessary for him to be considered among those that will be shortlisted to Sit for exam.
We went to Jamb CBT to change his course and go ahead with the P-UTME registration. This is where The problems started unfolding. We Came to realize that he used my mum's number to open his jamb profile, and the sad thing is that they had stolen my mum's phone with that sim in it last two months. She lived for some weeks without phone before going ahead to buy a phone and a new sim.
So when the CBT guy told us that we will need that sim for change of course to be possible. We went to jamb office here in Kaduna and they confirmed the CBT guy statement. We went for the sim swap last monday but Mtn told us that since the sim pack wasn't available she will have to do a court affidavit. We got the affidavit instantly but there was a lot of que when we go back to the Mtn office.
We have to leave it till Tuesday, we went early morning when it was her turn for the swap she went ahead but one surprising thing is that the same sim that she bought and registered by herself 5- years ago turned out to be displaying a different person pix with details.
That's where real wahala start ooo, the Mtn agent told her that there is no way that sim swap will be done because it wasn't her pix in the profile. He told her that what actually happens was that the people she bought the sim from where just business men disguising themselves as Mtn agent, they are just after to sale their sim card in order to gain profit. They will offer you a registered sim as unregistered and take you through the process of registering as if that was the exact Time the registering is taking place.
At the end we trird other Mtn offices but the same answer was given to us the only way out was to look for the person whose pix is displaying to come by himself and do the swapping. This is a person my mum has never met in her entire life she don't even know him.
Remember that she was just a victim of a circumstance that's beyond her control and anybody can fall for it. I can't even comprehend how an innocent student will waste another year at home as result of a missing sim or number.
Pls I am begging on fellow elders in the house or anyone that has been in similar situation like this or know someone that has come across a similar problem and was able to solve it to pls help my brother out he has already wasted a year at home.
Pls help me out Why didn't he use his own number? |

Go to the nearest Jamb Cbt centre, they don't even need your phone number for change of course. They will change your course/institution when you pay #3.5k, which is #2.5k for remita payment, then 1k for miscellaneous. You only send a code when registering at the initial stage. All they will ask is your Jamb Regular No. and the preferred course you are changing to. I sure say you never reach the Jamb Cbt Centre sef. 4 Likes |

The only option here is to wait till next year because sincerely you can't swap that sim..If you push your luck too much, you can be arrested and sued for impersonation and sim theft. It is only the picture on their database that can be used to swap the sim.Shikena.
I also felt nearly the same thing, mine was my date of birth but luckily enough I got it swapped. 4 Likes 1 Share |

This is a serious issue. but during the registration excersise jamb said candidate should used their personal Sim to do the registration at cbt center.
I also learnt that those that did bypass, change of course or institution without Otp from jamb, that jamb had revert the change back to it previous. 2 Likes |

Rush to jamb office, your registration details are with them and you can change the Sim card you use in getting informations there. Next time, always go to MTN office to do your sim registration, pre-registered SIM cards is now a crime as criminals buy it in bulk for the aim of scamming people. Take caution next time please. |

From what i can understand from this issue, we need to be realistic with ourselves. This UTME registration just came with a whole lot more baggages.
ITEMS NEEDED FOR A SUCCESSFUL UTME REGISTRATION.
1, Money for UTME scratch card.
2, A new small phone.
3, A new and fully registered simcard. ( i will suggest that the sim is bought at a friendship centre)
You will need to keep the phone in a safe place and recharge the line with small credit from time to time. Also make some calls with it to keep the line valid.
But do not take it out with you for fear of loss. 3 Likes |
