My NYSC experience was exciting, challenging, educative, fun laced with a little bit of boredom in between.

I served in Bayelsa state which was not too far from my state - Anambra. I also had a couple of friends from school who are from Bayelsa state (serving in far places too) so they kind of cushioned my stay there indirectly.

Camp was intense because we stayed just two weeks instead of the usual three weeks. The drills, the competitions, the crowd- corps members, NYSC officials and soldiers, and of course the mami market all provided lots of unique experiences.

I was a member of the OBS team which I think influenced my posting to Yenagoa. After camp, you are on your own. I was rejected where I was originally posted as they already had too many corps members. As God would have it, I got a better PPA at Bayelsa Newspaper Corporation which was where I wanted to be considering what I studied in school and my hobby.

The rest is f my experience were mostly exciting with the Bayelsans, their food, lifestyle and water-logged environment. Their bolee and fish is so delicious that I still salivate ay the thought of it even now.

I even got a place of secondary assignment from the state government. It was a contract job and it became the peak of my service year. I owe most of what I know about ICT and leadership and team work to that secondary assignment.

CDS was also fun and eye opening.

I however had issues with the high cost of living, lack of good accommodation and the rainy weather there.

In all, NYSC experience for me was worth all the stress and drama. As our cordinator would always tell us then, if after the service year you find yourself in another state that is not yours and you are stranded, then you were not a bonafide corpse member. That is the essence of youth service.
What does the emboldened mean?

Probably to show he's decent looking, him not philandering around is based on his choice and his looks isn't an issue.

I was never involved in any romance during my NYSC days. From the camp in Wannune to PPA in Benue state, it never crossed my mind to flirt, fling or be romantically involved with anyone (female NYSC colleagues or the immediate locals).

Let me understand this:

On this thread, men are happily recounting their sexcapades during NYSC meaning that they are confirmed public preeqs. However, they come online everyday to rant about wanting ladies that are demure and untouched even after doing all the touches they can lay their hands on.

Keeping that in mind, and peradventure, the ladies had heeded to your wishes and remained untouched despite all advances, does that mean NYSC would have been the most boring experience ever for majority of guys?

It's only in Nigeria people discuss sex as an achievement. You had sex in NYSC. So? Have you had sex in an office with people present, or sex with your female unmarried boss? Have had sex on a boat cruise before? Have you had a threesõme like Professor Njoku of IMSU? Have you had sex with an older woman, i.e., MILF? I am just saying there are other things to create memories. But what would help intending corp members is if we share experiences on building contacts, friendship and getting jobs or even meeting spouses.

Look, have fun during NYSC but make the best use of that time because it will never come again. During my camp, there was the daughter of a federal perm sec, an ambassador's son and a daughter of an executive director of a bank (I am not socially outgoing but I knew this, imagine who else could have been there). Target those that went to private unis. You'd know if you participate in socials. One of them literally helped her friend who was on camp to get a reposting to a lucrative place after he was posted to one yeye secondary school. I made three friends there, and even met one who has been of immense help in my professional life.

As for sex, if that is your ambition in NYSC life, you can wait till the last week of camp where many girls are hørny and have not been piped. They'd find you.

In every NYSC camp, there's always this ugly girl that attaches herself to you and follows you up and down like flies.

I served in wailo camp bauchi state.. the camp was crazy fun, low key bragging I was one of the fine girls in my platoon and had guys coming around but only one caught my eye.. we became inseparable before I knew it, he was an embodiment of what I wanted in a guy and was intelligent to boot.. the only catch there was the fact he was a Muslim.. I didn't know a virtual stranger could very quickly become a part of someone's life... after camp the differences in religion created a huge chasm between us. we still talk once a while but it's mostly platonic now.. all in all camp was mad fun.
