Hi everyone, I just got letter of acceptance from Humber College. I applied for a graduate certificate course (project management). My question is that will 9 million be enough as statement of acct for my personal account? This 9m will just be sent to my account, I hope there won't be a problem because the money hasn't been flowing for the past 3 months. The money is actually in form of digital currency so I have to convert it to naira.
I'm highly anticipating for a response. Any other information will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello letskeeptalking

You might want to pause before submitting your application. Please read this thread from page one until the end and gain more knowledge about applying for a Canadian study permit before submitting to avoid any error

In the application for temporary residence form, you should simply state the places you have travelled to outside your home country or country of residence in the last 5 years or since you turned 18, whichever is more recent. As for the proof of the travel, you can attach the pages of your passport with visas and stamps under the “passport” section. Scan the pages and merge them into one file.

What do you mean by sop of proof of funds? Sop means statement of purpose. Do you mean soa (statement of account)? There is a proof of fund section which should contain your statement of account and any other thing showing your financial capabilities (Loan from bank, payslips, proof of employment, proof of business registration etc)

As for home ties, the proof comes in your statement of purpose/letter of explanation and should be uploaded under “client information” You should write a statement of purpose/ letter of explanation telling what you want to study the course you have chosen, how it will benefit you, why Canada etc. after the letter, you attach home tie proof or anything else you want. Merge everything and put it under “client information”

Your questions shows you are not very familiar with the whole process (I might be wrong) If I am right, please take your time to read this thread from page 1 and learn before you apply. If anything is not clear, please feel free to ask on the thread.

Please see these links too to know the appropriate section for each documents (please read the links carefully)

Thanks a lot madam, this is very much appreciated.

Do I also need to scan the visa pages of my passports that are expired?

It seems she doesn’t need a medical exam because of where she applied from (Turkey)

TimAke:

Try doing an upfront medical. You've got AIP already, you have nothing to lose really. I was in this same position but then I did an upfront medical examination and my medical status has been updated as passed.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Chocs(f): 10:45pm On Oct 02, 2020
You’re welcome ma.

To your question, I would say yes. If there is any visa in the old passport or any page with stamps proving travel history, you can add it.

You can make a table in the first page stating what pages your current passport can be found and old passport. And merge everything.

Eg Current passport (page 1-5)
Previous passport (page 6-10)

Others might advise otherwise, but this is my opinion.

All the best ma

To check if an institution is a DLI (designated learning institution) and eligible for PGWP(post graduate work permit), please check this list.

Thanks a lot, this is very useful. Please permit me to trouble you one more time.

Do I need to quote Dubai as "Countries visitied", if I only just did an overnight layover en route US/back to Nigeria. I'm asking because I have the entry stamps on my passport, but I only spent a day there on each trip.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Chocs(f): 11:17pm On Oct 02, 2020
Hello ma,

No problem. You can ask as much as you need to.

My personal opinion would be, if there’s any entry and exit stamp, then you can mention it and state the reason as “transit”

Hello Silvamania

You need to input just the tuition for your first year there.

For living expenses (Room and board) you need to input at least 10,000 Cad. If your letter of acceptance came with a recommendation for living expenses then you might have to use their figure.

For “others” you can put 3,000 - 4,000 cad

The important thing is when you add you tuition + Room and board + others, it shouldn’t exceed the amount you have available for your studies.

@Justmellow stated his own opinion about filling this section, I’ll tag you in it.
There’s really no fixed rule for it.

Hello Chocs,

In contribution to this, the bolded isn't a compulsory requirement. The 10k covers LE and other sundry needs. People only do this out of discretion and not doing this has no consequences for as long as the stated funds doesn't outweigh the Total Available Funds.

The extra 3 or 4k can as well be included to the Room and Board making it either 13 or 14k while the Other column remains blank. Note that there is no specified format in filling out this section.

I always find your posts interesting and insightful.

One love and Cheers

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Chocs(f): 12:28am On Oct 03, 2020
Hello Hassan19

How much is your tuition for 1 year?

You need to show proof of available money for 1 year tuition plus at least 10,000 Canadian dollars for your 1 year living expense.

If 9m is sent to you in such a short time, you should explain where it is from with proof, otherwise you might be rejected for insufficient funds. For example If it’s from the sale of a property, you should include the sale agreement or deed. Summary: source of lump/huge sums should be explained with proof.

Would that be the only source of funds you have? Do you have a job with income? Or are you using any sponsor? Simply getting all the money from someone might not be enough.

All the best

Hello amobola

The ideal career progression would be a PhD but if you are not cut out for that, you can go for another master’s if you can convince the visa officer that it will be beneficial to your career.

You can check the following out

PhD global governance

Hello Macj247

You’re welcome. I’m female smiley

Have you gotten an admission to any institution yet?
(1) Before applying for a study permit you must first get an admission to a DLI (designated learning institution). It can be a college or University.
Make sure you check if it is eligible for PGWP(post graduate work permit) which would let you stay back to work in Canada after studying. You can check the name of the school in the link below. After entering what province (area) the school is in, you would see if it is eligible for PGWP (they write yes next to it if it is eligible)

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

(2) Next you apply for your visa. There are two ways to apply: 1) paper application submitted to VFS (2) online application

Please read the info in the link below. If you choose online application (which I recommend) just click the link, click “apply online for a study permit” choose “create account” and after account creation, you’d be asked some questions and based on your answer a checklist with the list of documents would be created for you.

If you choose to do the paper way, you can find the process in the link below too

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp

Please make sure you read this thread from page one to the end. Take your time to learn about the application process to prevent a rejection. People can advise you, but the major work lies in your hands to read wide and learn about the process. If anything isn’t clear, feel free to ask questions on the thread.

At the bottom of this page, you’ll see different numbers, those are the page numbers for this thread (group). Please click on 1 and start reading till you get to the end.

All the best
