Journalist and TV journalist are all level 1 occupations which means your degree from ABU will not be able to assess for those occupations. If there is any level 2 occupation or below that you can assess relating to journalism, then you can go for it. Check the 3 occupation lists.

Your spouse can assess for a safety role with his BTech cos it's a 5 year course. Pls check the list to see the right safety occupation to assess as long as there are documents to back up the 10 years employment.

Most 491 comes with conditions, you have to check each state and see whether you meet their requirements for nomination then express interest for the one that favours you.

Your occupation (Television journalist) is a Skill level 1 class B occupation. This means a Bachelor degree equivalent to AQF is a must. From experience, qualifications from ABU have been assessed to be equivalent to a Diploma. This will likely give you a negative assessment. You can make an enquiry with VETASSES for clarification.

Meanwhile, the other hurdle to cross is that only ACT specifically has it on their occupation list. Other states have it under special conditions. You will have to go through the states' website for more information.

You can choose many occupations but the hurdle is they are all Skill level 1 and not many states sponsor them.

Please how do I get assessed for brick layer. My job description can be tailored to that but I need to know how they verify it

Following the budget presentation, I fear things don't look too good for offshore applicants. I stand to be corrected anyway.
I have been waiting with my 95points for 491 since August hoping for state allocation but feel a bit confused today after reading some parts of the budget.

I don't think you will scale through vetassess assessment because you are not a manager and I would suggest you look at the two occupation under EA.

Do you have payslips, bank statements, pension or tax clearance certificate?

Just to encourage us all on this journey. I assessed with VETASSESS for Valuer.

I applied for priority process,
paid on 11th of September 2020
got receipt on 14th Septemeber 2020
got a mail from VETASSESS approving that I was eligible for priority process 16th September 2020
got my positive outcome letter on 19th September 2020 (date on the letter was even 17th September 2020).

I claimed 11 years plus (including NYSC) work experience, but got 9 years as positive. NYSC wasn't considered and 1 year from my experience (1st employment) was used to calculate the qualifying period required to meet the skill level of the nominated or closely related ANZCO occupation.

meaning, if all is in order, the assessment process is done speedily. I was actually looking forward to September 30th, 2020 (considering the 10 business days timeline for priority process) for the outcome letter and it happened in 4days.

With EA, you will need a well written CDR document. Also, pension or tax clearance documents for the 4 years is mandatory for EA now.

For Vetassess, if you aren't a manager, don't even bother with to assess with them except you are able to prove your managerial role.

I do not know how you will scale through assessment without payslips,bank statement showing your salaries for the number of years claimed, tax clearance or pension.

this works well if u live in lagos and Abuja please note that you will still produce payslips.
