Sanwo-Olu Imposes 24-Hour Curfew In Lagos by fergie001: 11:50am On Oct 20, 2020
Dear Lagosians,

I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our state. As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement #ENDSARS, we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state.

I, therefore, hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October,2020. Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets.

Babajide Sanwo-olu

What if they defy the curfew and the number of people protesting are very high? How do you disperse such huge crowd? By the way, the protest should be aligning towards ending bad government.

Yameater:
sure?

Confirmed.

This decision is inevitable if you ask me, we all saw it coming. Peaceful protest can no longer take place alongside lawlessness. Government must restore law and order before the situation gets out of hand.

undecided some Nigerians obviously love mediocrity, something that would birth a new Nigeria some rogues hijacked and turned it into something else. I'm in pain because if they don't stop this protest now it would definitely end in tears.

Just some few buildings burnt and u guys are crying foul.

Can you equate it with the number of lives lost?

Peaceful protest koor, peaceful protest niii;

They think by sending hoodlums to hijack the process by burning protesters cars and sporadically shooting will make us relent; Una lie

I’m sure those guys who were victims of SARS brutality had a peaceful death

May the blood of those innocent souls u guys greedily sent to early grave speaks violent against all ur lives.

Curfew or no curfew, we’ve already gotten use to their shootings
Against all odds, we will keep fighting for a better branded Nigeria

I work at Orile nt far frm this where incident occurred & truth is Thugs or hoodlums had nothing to do wit this fire. The police officers let the prisoners go and set the place on fire by themselves. No officer was inside. They restricted people from putting it off

How does the curfew in Lagos start at 4pm today? How will people get home? A 24 hour indefinite curfew is oppressive and will only give room/excuses for people to be further brutalized by the police.

The thugs didn't break into the prison. The prisoners were released illegally by authorities to pin it on the protesters.

Don't mistake it for the other
I worked in two prisons including the 2nd biggest one in the South East as a 'Prison Doctor' for one year & I can bet my life that no jailbreak can be successful without the help of Prison Staff.

A Nigerian prison was overran and not a single gunshot was fired.

These people must take their citizens for fools.
Script well played .. Yesterday during the violence, the government kept quiet why ? Now they release the prisoners so it looked like the protesters did it even when the gates were still locked .. Security breach was internal but on whose orders.. Surely, the government.
A prisoner escaped in Benin today and said he’s been in prison since 2014 but he’s wearing this seasons Arsenal jersey
Weyrey should stop disguising.
The blood of the dead is crying,

Detained in Kirikiri as an activist fighting military dictatorship, I've a fair knowledge of the inside. When there is an unrest outside, the Chief Warder orders lockdown- every prisoner to his cell. How did those prisoners climb up the wall from the inside of Benin Prison?
Two possibilities:
1) The Chief Warder didn't order lockdown and warders were overpowered by the prisoners, inside, or;
2) The prison authority helped prisoners with ladders and climbing sheets, likely blankets
Knowing Benin has a history of jailbreaks- it happened in May 1989 during the anti-SAP protests. That time, the protesters freed the prisoners- the prison authority ought to have ordered a lockdown.
Either way the jailbreak has nothing to do with #EndSars

Finally
Political thugs purposely put fire on that police station in order for government to react this way.

So the new strategy of Nigerian government now is TO CAUSE CHAOS, SET POLICE STATIONS ON FIRE & DECLARE CURFEW INORDER TO STOP THE #ENDSARS MOVEMENT.
They have all FAILED. This movement ain't stopping anytime soon.

Really?

Finally, it would become a national curfew.
I pray the aim will be achieved, after lifting the curfew we will continue with the protests.

The hoodlums you guys sent after us will soon start attacking you and your families, the stipends you pay them will push them to demand for more, then hell will be let loose.

The protest has reached Igando as I'm typing now, no light for 3 days and they will bring nepa bill

Their plan is gradually working.
Use thugs to disperse protesters
Use thugs to distabilize the protest,
Blame it on same thugs, use the avenue to impose curfew since they can't use military.
Now use military when curfew is imposed and blame it on disobedience...
We know their plans...
