How does anyone acknowledge what was alleged and still under investigation?

Anyway, her speech. Not the president's.

Been completely silent about it either was a misnomer. Emotional Intelligence was utterly missing in that speech.

Nigeria missed a great chance to force change. Protests of this sort are not just organized haphazardly like it was done with the #EndSars. I blame the organizers.

After getting the attention of the whole world, the organizers failed to clearly define a motive. Eventually, everyone tried to take credit not knowing they were dealing with politicians.

The cause of the protest failed when the IGP cleverly isolated Davido and later leaked a video of the singer denying ever being part of the protests. That was the day that the politicians poured water on the protest. The thugs were sent to cause mayhem and eventually, some state sponsored hoodlums were made to do all the bad things that later got blamed on the protests.

What the politicians have succeeded in doing is that they have carved a bad name for the protests and nobody wants to be associated with it again. A failed revolution is very dangerous because this generation may not get this chance ever again.

The organizers failed big time. They never realized that the game that they have started is a 3D chess and it can only be played when you use your head and not emotions.

I weep for this country

What's stopping you from leading your own?

Do not think the Presidency did not know what to write but the Northern Oligarchs and the cabal crafted that speech to convey that they would not give an inch. Not mentioning the Lekki shooting was also very deliberate. How did Nigerians who witnessed Government sponsored thugs breaking up the riots expect a different speech beats me.

Lets be careful! Sponsored thugs? Yes! But government? You can't be sure. Which government sef? State or Federal? It could also have been private, you know!

And for the deliberate omission in the speech: Is it not words ? There's always a way to mint the words without necessarily admitting to anything, yet placating nerves. No be English ?

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for president.

Honestly, if Buhari read this speech to everyone.
Most Nigerians will applaud him.

Will those managing him allow him to read this brilliant speech. We are in trouble because he is not well managed.

No bro. It didn't fail. A strong message has been sent to the political class.
They never thought the protest will generate wide attention it got.

Only time will tell.
Don't forget it was all about End Police Brutality.
Revolution wasn't on the agenda except by some unscrupulous people.

I do not see it so.

With fake news swarming the entire public space at speeds greater than the speed of light, along with inciting, unbecoming and unintelligent responses from people, far and wide, I think the president's speech was just fine.

Chimamanda's speech is novelist in nature, not presidential or political at all.

Political leaders do not speak that way. To understand me, try and get Macron's speech during the protest in France.

Presidential speeches are not meant to be novelist, but firm and direct.

The moment they block roads and disrupted peoples business they lost it.

No movement runs for long without a leader.

If GEJ had not been clueless there won't have been PMB.
GEJ was not a better option, so keep your message to yourself. He spent 5 years without direction.
He had the best opportunity to put things in better ways but the forces around him could not allow him use it. He only allowed curruption to blow out of proportion.
Crude oil was $130 per barrel , the highest so far in the history of Nigeria what did he use it for ? Nothing to show for it. They even started borrowing money to pay salaries at the beginning of 2015 .
The same efcc that has been prosecuting and recovering loots during PMB did not have more than #4 million in their account to prosecute court cases and hire lawyers during GEJ because they were not funded. Google is your friend Google it.
GEJ had the opportunity to stop importation of rice and other commodities and invest heavily in agriculture but he could not because of cowardice and reasons best known to him.
What PMB did in 4 years is better than what GEJ did in 5 years.
People were tired of looting, impunity and corruption in PDP that was why they voted for PMB in 2015 . And of course that is in the past now. The past is gone. We have found ourselves here.
We were between the devil and the deep blue sea.
Stop blaming anybody for what has happened in the past.
PMB has nothing to loose right now . He has got what he wanted and that is why he has shown no humility, empathy or concern for what has happened.
The way forward is what is the sure bet now. What is the way forward? and not being reminded of the past . You can't do anything with the past . It's gone for good. So stop giving sermon about those people that supported PMB.

Nigeria problems of today did not start with PMB neither is it ethnic, or religious.
Nigeria problem is the monster corruption. Or was it PMB that asked governors to hoard covid 19 palliatives meant for the people.
Though PMB has its own blame and inadequacies yet the truth must be told that Nigeria is fantastically corrupt.

Youths should retrategies on how to take this country from the old cargoes who have turned Nigeria into an enterprise and refuse to let go.
Nigerian youths must arise again. Enough is enough of these old cargoes that are full of Propaganda and lies.

My take is that you cannot say/give what you don't have.

If this was the speech and it came from a sincere place then we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place because it would be assumed we have reasonable people at the helm.

The truth is this govt cannot be reasonable either in their actions or what they say. They have demonstrated it time and time again.

When there are people like Adesina, Garba and Onochie speaking on behalf of the presidency how would anyone expect anything reasonable from them.

This speech can only be given by a govt that has been reasonable from time and we can't say same about this govt.

They can't even pretend to care.

"We will never have this chance again"? Please speak for yourself, and only say things you know.

Who told you we didn't clearly identified our demands? Haven't you heard of 5for5? Only 2 were met and we made it clear we ain't leaving the streets until our demands are met.

Besides, we have decided to stick to our guns. We are not backing down. Just because we've withdrawn from the streets doesn't mean we've accepted defeat. Never!.

Moreover, we are currently on a better strategy on how best to fight for our rights, and this time is gonna be massive and grand. Even these hoodlums will not only join us but will be our guards against any intruder.

Thank you.

Chimamanda Adichie for president! What a powerful speech. We have so many intelligent Nigerians who if given a chance could steer this country in the right direction but Nigerians will rather vote in octogenarians who are only versed in animal husbandry AKA cattle rearing. It's quite unfortunate.
