By Tajudeen Adebanjo and Omolola Afolabi.

Life continued to pick up on Monday in Lagos after hoodlums attacked public and private facilities last week following the EndSARS protests.

Commercial buses are back on the roads but commuters had a raw deal as the burning of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses took a toll.

The buses were burnt at their terminals in Oyingbo and Berger Yard.

There were no BRT buses plying Ikorodu Road, leaving many commuters stranded.

A similar situation was faced by those in Oyingbo axis, where the bus terminal was locked

Though there were buses available for the commuters that came out, but the fare was increased.

Some of the commuters lamented the burning of the buses.

They pleaded with the government to act fast and rebuild the terminal to make life easier.

Some motorists in Ikorodu took to the restricted BRT corridor.

A civil engineer, Rasheed Ganiyu, said he was unable to get a bus to work.

“I had to call my boss to tell him I wouldn’t be able to make it to work. I’m glad that he is an understanding person,” he said.

The yellow-painted commercial buses and some private vehicle owners came to the rescue.

“There are no buses to drive; will there still be jobs for us?” a driver asked.

Another driver who simply gave his name as Segun was optimistic that once government officials fixed the charred vehicles or bought another set, everything would be back to normal.

Segun, however, was not sure how soon it would be.

“It is sad that we have to go through this; although we don’t know how long it will take for us to be back on track,” he said.

Another commuter, Moses Ayegba, a private auditor, decried the burning of the buses.

“We expect that fares will begin to increase. We have not recovered from the economic downturn due to the pandemic; now paying through our noses for transportation is a lot to deal with,” he said.

George Nyedirike, a manager of a synthetic hair manufacturing company, said many more people do not have alternatives.

The army caused this. Why did they provoke peaceful protesters by shooting them.

Na wa ooo!!! Everyone else brings NEWS to nairaland, it's okay. Omenka brings news even without adding A SINGLE SENTENCE, he is trying to "insinuate" something.

Am I the author of the report?

Abeg crawl back into the hole from which you emerged. Dont have time to exchange words with uncouth little kids here. Why terrified about the news? Did you burn any of the buses? undecided

Even a brain that contains only sawdust will see the foolishness of burning the new BRT buses. I still don't understand why those buses were burnt.

LASG should open a gofundme account so that those who donated towards the protest may also donate to rebuy some of those buses

Rather than admit their error, they have instead gone ahead to try to twist the narrative around.

In Life there are Consequences for the actions and Decisions taken by people..
This is Definitely one of such Consequences for the Burnings and Destructions that occurred few days ago..

In Similar Vein there are Consequences we as Individuals fail to receive and act on the Word of God , Admonishments and Warnings given our Here on daily basis.
Some Much lives have been wasted for nothing!
Now is not the time to Arguments and things that have no Eternal Value..
Anyone could be Gone at anytime and also the Trumpet will Blast at any Moment.

Now is the Time and Season to Humble yourself before God and Accept Jesus Christ..
There is Life after Death!
Heaven is Real!
Hell is Real!

The BRT were burnt by Dragons sent to destroy the wicked Tinubu. Tinubu is the owner of the BRTs. He makes billions of dollars daily from them so the burning is justified. The attendant suffering is just a small sacrifice that people must make in the quest for a better Nigeria. We move!

Glorifying the suffering of people.
The aim of this op is to say"for protesting, you people that protested or supported the protesters deserve every suffering you get".
Burning and looting,as bad as it is,and try as much as people and government warn against it,have most often been a collateral damage of protests, even in the most civilized, well to do and democratic of Nations.
Bad policies make people become angry. When u now add hunger and suffering,u would come to realize,Nigerian protest was even a bit mild.
In many Arab Nations, with the kinds of hardship and police brutality Nigerians are suffering, whole cities would have been burnt to the ground and numerous government facilities set ablaze.
In the Western world,1/4 of what is happening here would have shut down cities and countries for weeks till practical steps are taken or governments resign.
Successive Nigerian governments are lucky to have relatively laid back people, despite the level of hardship.
As for the BRT buses, for heaven's sake, large corporations like that take out insurance policies for vehicular accidents, bus infernos, accidental or deliberate or irate actions by the public.
If they didn't,then one must question the kind of people running the BRT.
It's a demented person that would find joy in glorifying suffering of people because of a largely peaceful protest, that was then infiltrated by government sponsored thugs, which for everyone has backfired.

So sad

When the people inflict pain on themselves all in the name of a revolution and radical ideas.

They are all paying the price.

Anarchists and revolutionaries are evil. What they want is power by all means

We were not expecting any thing less. There is no need to sober reflect on anything. Joy wouldn't feel so good if it wasn't for pain. Commuters should take it a sacrifice for a better Nigeria.

Not Protesters but Hoodlums!

I would never allow anyone denigrate the peaceful protests that held in Nigeria for 13 whole days without incidents.

That Title is a deliberate attempt to make the sacrifices of young people all this time as nothing.

You were attacked by Hoodlums. Hoodlums hired by the government that they can no longer control. Not Protesters.
