Arrant nonsense! Must we do everything backwards in this country! Name a politician abroad that would dare speak with protesters or the youth population with such condenscending tone! Children, as if all those who are on social media are below 20. The focus of the speech was on controlling social media which is sa shame since any right thinking politician should be more focused on the sufferings of the masses, the root cause of the issues.

Treating the symptom rather than the disease is a fool's journey, one thing most wise people try and avoid but in 9ja it seems to be the way things work. Desmond is a coward, a betrayal of the medium that propelled him to fame in the first place. Without the youth, he would have lost his consituency even with the backings of his godfathers.

When people are murdered by the government, should the concern be children cursing or should it be why have things worsened to cause such a rebellion. WE can forgive the old ones for being incompetent but when a youth like Desmond shows the same incompetency then we truly see how hopeless this country has become!

Desmond Elliot and his defenders are all idiots for calling Nigerian youths children. It's such an imbecilic metaphor that casts doubts on their credentials as clear thinkers and progressive temperaments.
Would they rather have youths in the dark ages,shut out from the world , from technology, and revolving in the crypt of the ignorance?

Desmond later came out to apologise in tears for calling us yoots 'shidren', and while I was wondering aloud on this forum what the whole fuss about, my friend told me offline told me this-

"The problem is that the Nigerian social media space is now a lynch mob. Nobody is ready to listen to common sense, people are incapable of comprehending simple ideas and people are very intolerant of any view that does not agree with theirs
