This decision isn't as easy as many think. Many still live their lives as dictated by the society. This is why you see someone super struggling thinking of having kids. The best anyone can do is to ensure things are well planned and not follow the leading of people because they will not help when one needs them.

Personally the state of the country is scary. Even those with good paying jobs are facing job insecurity cos of imminent layoffs. Inflation is another palaver. Imagine Gino tomato that goes for#50 now go for #100. Then another mentality of some people that God will take care of them is sickening. I'm not saying God won't take care of them but what plans do you have. I know of a private school teacher collecting #25000 salary and married with 3 kids before securing Npower job. After getting the job, he married another wife who now has two kids. All this because of #30000 Npower. Now, I don't have any pity to spare some people languishing in poverty cos of wrong decisions.

it amazes me how someone struggling to feed will be in a hurry to bring a child into this part of the world.. Allowing society to determine what they do...it is pitiable.

This is definitely a valid concern for everyone right now. Even so called western heavens are turning on their heads. But I completely get that there’s a big difference between the bad of these countries that we escape to and the bad of Nigeria. Nigeria’s bad is on another level.

Nigeria is in a terrible state the worst state it has ever been. Youth unemployment of over 80 percent. Low wages. The world's poverty capital. Crippling hunger and insane food inflation. With all this problems here and there, a few of my friends have vowed never to have kids till they escape from the country but I still see young small children here and there who were born 1 to 3 years ago.

Nairalanders who recently had kids how do you feel about your kids? Do you worry about their future or are you optimistic that Nigeria might become a better place in the future for your children. How do you also take care of them with the rising cost of everything from transport to food, rent and all basic necessities?
Bro, there's this stupid man in my compound; a disabled man o. A man with one of his legs paralaysed just gave birth to his third kid last week. A man with no legs, no job, no handwork, no skill. No, he has 6 mouths to feed including himself ooh. His wife has no job, and they just popped a kidinto this world last week. I refused congratulating them sha, because how can one be this stupid sef? even me that is still in my teens have vowed never to have kids, or get married unless i achieve a certain financial status. Na im person without legs dey carry six mouths to feed without job. He go suffer ehn

Be thankful you aren't here to experience it. If you have family in Nigeria pray for them. Things are so bad now that even to eat is a problem. Food is a problem in Nigeria now.

You mentioned poor people. I don't even think middle class Nigerians if such exists should be having kids.

They can provided they prepare for the worst. They shouldn't hope for the best because nothing of such will ever happen.

Ordinarily, I'm not fazed by such attitudes but because those children are likely to be the next 1M boys, it calls for concerns. The way I see it, if nothing changes, na Lebanon Nigeria go turn to.

Most people get into a relationship just because they are now of age and do not have a reason to be in love or fall out of love. Being responsible in a relationship/marriage as a man or being the icing of the relationship on a steady is what a lady should be on the lookout for. You cannot just be all about sex and styles and how lasting you can be on bed or what you can receive on bed alone. There are values that makes the world a better place for both families and friends. Start by asking the right questions and you will do your self a gigantic favor in your relationship. Lets kick it off with these simple questions, shall we.....comment below if you have a question you think should be added and hit me up if you need anything at all, monetry wise or relationship wise

I have 2 children and that's all i intend to have. It's not easy raising children in this country especially if you have a standard you want for them. My son watches a lot of international documentaries and i see how eager and enthusiastic he gets anytime he is watching. Honestly i fear for the generation to come.

It's not easy madam. Huge respect to you. Please try teaching your children some ICT skills and deep mathematics. It will help them anywhere no matter how horrible the country gets.

Was the second wife aware he had a wife before her? Does she knows he was on a N30k salary? As for the man, I'm scared he might have grown up in an environment where he was taught that having more than one wife absolves the man of his responsibilities towards the kids as the women would compete on whose child gets better welfare from their sweats.

How is he feeding? Just curious.

I used to be like you growing up but I later learned it isn't my business. Don't stress over other people's choices. Just congratulate them and move on.

Not surprised this post didn't make fp to educate people. Unlike fp materials, this thread isn't trash enough. Hell it's no where near trash!

Even that 500k salary will become useless with time due to devaluation and inflation.

Honestly, we're bleeped from all angles.

With the way things are going in this country, in 10 years time 1 million naira will not be able to maintain a nuclear family.

It's better to just migrate to a country with stable economy.

No.

I already mapped out my plans for them.

They will be from 2 different babymama(s) so they can compete for supremacy between themselves to earn my admiration. However, I'm taking them through the digital world once they done with high school so, they can begin to earn like i currently earn online by themselves while in the university, And when they graduate -- they should be able to fend for themselves in the real world, still via the internet legitimately.
