Language

Culture

Names of deities

Migration patterns (Many Ikwerre will tell you themselves that they are Aro the same way others amongst them will say Bini)

Language we are speaking English now? Does that make us English
Even among those who agree they are Igbo is their laguage or dialect mutually intelligle.
Pidgin Englsh is a variant of English . How many people from Englan understand it

Do you understand the meaning of the word "metric" How is migration pattern a metrc
So those people saying they are from Benin are not Ikwerre

How Igbo are Aro people Do you know the history of Aro??

You folk know very little about yourselves but have very big opinions based on nothing but emotion

So according to you Ikwerre is part of the igboid family but only Ikwerre is not igbo among all the other igboid family.

Funny you
I wonder why you wrote the truth up there and still try to twist it just to feel happy

So I can start introducing myself now as chinedu Okafor from Benin.

Hope I wouldn't look stupid with such introduction
You are Illiterate

We are speaking English and many young Nigerians do that better than their own language. English is a Germanic language . Does that make us Germans

Igboid is just a word coined by Kay Williamson , a linguist, to classify language

Your comments clearly indicate you are reasoning at WAEC level . This issue is way above your head

All that Okafor from Benin logic would make a lot of sense in a JS3 classroom. This issue requires greater cerebration than your infrastructure can support
What I think looks stupid is Nnamdi Kanu dressing up as a Jew and tracing origin to Eri in the Bible.

Goodluck Jonathan are not Ijaw words are they
We have many Nigerian families called George, Williams etc some even call themselves Heineken .

Those things do not mean what you are trying to pretend they mean.

Today there is such a thing as a Nigerian accent whether we like it or not. This is just a function of geographical proximity it says nothing about origin or ancestry

Bros, truth be told, if i am igbo, i will be ashamed that Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Edo etc that has similar culture, faith etc with Igbos will rather chose the North over the Igbos. It's a shame and if i were you, i will take initiative and see how you can start rethinking your mindset, belief, mentality and start changing that from amongst the youth. So, in another twenty years, the narrative will be different. Now guess what, you won't do that, you are too filled with hate, believe in your own lies and too arrogant to accept the truth. Now about Biafra, follow the Brexit example, start with the local govt, then state and then National Assembly. Follow the process, do the work. The other time you were boasting and beating your chest, then the North gave you ultimatum to leave and you now calmed down. Now you started again, don't let Nigeria give you ultimatum oh... abi you think say na play?

For employing every trick, every blackmail in the books to have Igbo continue to share one country with you, you must be ashamed of yourself.
Parasite. Your days of parasitic lifestyle are numbered. It’s either Nigeria is politically restructured to TRUE and FISCAL FEDERALISM to enable parasites like you to start to work to use what is in your environment to develop the people in your state/region, Or dissolve Nigeria into more manageable countries.

In your campaign to have the political status quo in Nigeria to remain, you feed falsehood to the public that Efik, Ibibio, Ijaw etc shall chose northern people instead of the Igbo. You are laughable.

Your madness over the Igbo is that Igbo stands as buffer for the other oil producing states in the SS, without the Igbo, you would have bent their backs to tell them that the oil resources in their backyard originated from Jigawa or from Sambisa, therefore, the 13% from derivation should no more be given to them.

When I hear him speak and deny his ancestors, I laugh. The Nigeria kind of education is so weak, people can't reason outside the box.its like a black American denying that he is African even when their ancestors were brought to America as slaves.Igbo is a language not a place.the Igbo language is used as an identified for those that speak the language.u don't HV to be from the South East to be Igbo.i am from Asaba .Asaba is not South East. since I became wise I stopped saying I am Ibo.my education is not a waste and I won't allow myself to be a mumu.i refuse to be ignorant of my root. I reason in multiple directions and I am not a slave to the North.i don't owe anybody an apology.my parents told me to hate the Igbos of the East.i will not do that because we share the same ancestors.being a governor doesn't make a man wise.so I don't blame ur governor.
Noted! God bless you richly for not betraying common sense and truth. As for your parents, their judgement is left to God

Do you know the book called 'the concubine'? Did you ever read it? If you did you would realise that the author, Elechi Amadi, wrote that book as a proud Igbo man.

Now just a quick question, that is if you can give a honest answer(even thou i know common sense reasoning and objectivity is alien from an average Yoruba man), is it possible that a man will have 2 ethnicities while he lived? Elechi Amadi was born a proud Igbo man but died an ikwere man? Can you honestly reconcile the confusion?

Him changing to negin to sing the ikwere tune started immediately after the civil war. So dont start arguing stupidly on what you have no knowledge about

@Dedetwo
You are making claims about facts that does not make them true.

You are telling bold faced lies without a shred of Evidence

Pause for one moment and realize that the slave trade though the eastern part of Nigeria was MAINLY IN "IGBO" slaves. That bears repeating

The bulk of slaves sold via Calabar and Ijaw territory were Igbo.
This went on not for a generation but for centuries.
Once again you had more sophisticated minority groups trading in Igbos as commodities for centuries

Looking at the geography it is obvious that Ikwerre territory would have been a conduit for these slaves .

It is understandable from a historical perspective why Ikwerre would reject the Identity of their erstwhile slaves whom they call Isuoma.

Ask Asari Dokubo he can confirm it

Using German, French and English as comparison to igbos and Ikwerres doesn't make sense

Do German speakers automatically understand English and French the way igbo speakers automatically understand Ikwerre and vice versa

We are talking of your tribal names here and not how you are digressing into English names illogically

Do English people speak English? Yes they are the owners
Do Nigerians speak English? Yes, they are are not the owners, it was adopted

It's interesting you mention German. I'd compare the Igbo/Igboid distinctions with Germany and a host of ethnic-German communities in Europe in places like Austria, Switzerland, the Alsace-Lorraine region of France etc. Simplistically comparing the ties between Igbo speakers and our adoption of English as national lingua franca is disingenuous and dumb.

Ikwerre’s are Bini! The founder of Ikwerre called Akalaka is a Benin Prince (Pronounced Aka ‘l’ aka in Bini language). Ikwerre real name is Iwhnurọhna before the Igbos changed it to Ikwerre during the old eastern region.

The Oba of Benin will soon select the next Enogie to rule over his Ikwerre subjects. The Oba during his last visit to Governor Osanyeso Owaiken (formerly called Nyesom Wike) has informed Ogbako Ikwerre of his noble plans to change their social-cultural organization to Omo’n’edoIkwerregbovo.

To match words with action, the next Igue festival in former (Rumumoku) now called Oredomoku will come up in December. They will need five fresh Ikwerre heads for sacrifice during the ceremony. The aim of the human heads is to cleanse all form of Igbo connections in the now reclaimed Bini land. Osalogbua must be praised!

It's unfortunate the way some of this Ikwere people reason.
Who the hell do they think the are? Do they think the Igbo nation is begging them to belong? What is Ikwere ọ other local sub-Igbo groups think they are? They are the ones that need Ndị Igbo, and they after all.
I simply see them as confused people. They have been deceiving themselves over time.
Why give them attention?
You answer Igbo name, wear Igbo attires, eat Igbo food, and sing and dance Igbo songs etc and suddenly you remember you are not Igbo.
WHAT IS THAT?

CONFUSED IN GRATES!

peacekante:
The Governor was asked by Dele MOMODU if he is igbo and he gave a blunt reply. "I am not" . He later went on to clarify the misunderstanding about his name and also the ikwere people link to igbo.
