It's interesting you mention German. I'd compare the Igbo/Igboid distinctions with Germany and a host of ethnic-German communities in Europe in places like Austria, Switzerland, the Alsace-Lorraine region of France etc. Simplistically comparing the ties between Igbo speakers and our adoption of English as national lingua franca is disingenuous and dumb.

Just to tell you how smart the Igbos are in politics, present Umahi in APC and Wike in PDP for the same elective position and see them choose Wike. They are that wonderful.
