Hi guys I need your advice.

If I were to reschedule for another appointment and make changes to my new DS-160 I.e. saying I'm employed now while I mentioned I wasnt employed in the former ds-160, would that affect my interview in any way?

P.S. I am a freelancer, but didn't mention that previously.

What's the gap between the two? If it's true, then you don't need a good memory to tell the truth!!! You should be quick to explain to the VO at the slightest opportunity...

I don't understand you. Do you mean for the previous interview or for the new one?

I don't mean I forgot, I deliberately left it out because I thought saying I freelance might put me at a disadvantage.

if this is true, Does the three days include weekends please, cos i submitted my DS160 on friday donno if I can apply for emergency already.
Ftos:

We're you within 60 days to the start of your program when you requested for DS160?
I think it takes 3 days after submission of DS160 and 3 days after sevis fee payment for it can reflect on there system.

Yes my program starts in January, 5th to be precise. But let’s assume my application for the emergency appointment was to quick, what about people who followed the wholes of three days after submission and all that but were still denied the emergency appointment?

And no reasons were given. I really don’t get. But it’s passed now, I’m hopeful that dates will be released soon, because going to pay another MRV fee is not even an assurance that one will get the Emergency appointment approved.

guys pls help me reason this and suggest the better option.

my spouse was recently denied F2 visa at Lagos embassy. For that interview my mum was used as the sponsor for the deficit(deficit here is only the money needed for the dependent) cos I'm on F1 with full funding and stipend. Now, the issue is while planning to try again for the F2 much later, is it ok if I'm presented as the sponsor rather than my mum? I can provide sufficient SOA(US account + 9ja account) or just still use my mum (can provide sufficient SOA too). I am asking this cos someone mentioned that using my mum as her(my spouse) sponsor may be a factor in the F2 refusal.

If my own SOA is used, we plan she'll tell the VO that, "he got funding which covers his tuition + monthly stipend and in addition, he had worked for about 7 years before leaving for grad studies and has saved enough to cover for the deficit".

What do you guys think? I am trying to tie all loose ends ahead of her next interview.

I think you should share her transcript so people can comment on what might have gone wrong. Also, I don't think you should use your US account.

Happy Sunday people of God/Allah! It has been a wonderful ride through this thread. I made a promise to my self to share my transcript once my visa is approved, however, it is coming about nine days later. Appologies!! Better late than never.

I applied for emergency visa and assigned date was Friday 23rd october, so I was on the road on Tuesday 20th, from Abuja to Lagos, about 5 hours into the journey got a mail that my appointment was cancelled due to the protest ongong in Lagos. What to do na, I still had to continue my journey to Lagos. Fortunately, the date was later rescheduled to Friday 6th November. Surprisingly, on Monday of the week of my interview, sudden fear overwhelm me indicating unpreparedness, honestly I have not read more than 3 transcripts and just one casual interview about three weeks earlier. Thank God for a close friend, she was always concerned, she recommended at least three mocks with different persons everyday starting Tuesday till Thursday. On the thursaday night, my friends, who accommodated me, conducted a praise and prayer session untop my head. The following day, the interview day, woke up 4 am, with another praise and prayer session I prepared and was on the road by 5 am, arrived lagos embassy some minutes before 7, though my appointment was by 11 am. I went early, I just wanted to unrope the interview off my neck. I was unlucky anyways, they were quite strict with the time, so I could not go in until pass 10, hunger and long hours of standing don remove my confidence by this time. Finally, my interview!

Background:
Undergraduate: Civil engineering
Masters: Materials science and engineering
Phd: Mechanical engineering (focus: materials science and engineering)

Me: (smiling) Good morning sir, how are you?
VO: (wearing a smiling face) Good morning, pass me your passports, I20 and DS confirmation.
Me: (struggling to put the docs together)
VO: just pass everything, I will select those I want.
Me: Ok sir (did as instructed)
VO: where are you going? started looking his desktop computer and typing
Me: I am going to /worster/ polytechnic institute to pursue a fully funded PhD degree in ...
VO: (cuts in and look at me with disappointment) why do you people always say this wrongly, its /wu:str/ and not /worster/ (went back to his desktop and continued typing, paying no attention to me)
Me: okay sir, I got it wrongly! (started whispering the correct pronunciation to my self), sir can I try again, like go over it again (this na to just indicate say i accept my shortcoming and want to take correction)
VO: (smiling on hearing me) sure! go head!
Me: (with excitement) I am going to /wu:str/ polytechnic institute. Sir, I guess i got it correctly (oversabi nae con de do me)
VO: Yes you did, don't worry you will get to learn it when you arrive campus (still typing)
Me: (in the spirit of ovsersabi and trying to form cordial relationship/communication, as him don give me green light say i will learn when i get to the US) Sir, I am not used to the word yet but I am sure i will be able to say the word correctly with time. (VO face con strong face sharperly, me was like 'hia!' he was typing and not asking further questions. So, I started breathing heavingly to his hearing and panting slightly, all these were drama in the disguise of drawing his attention)
VO: (still looking at his screen) are you tensed?
Me: yes, a little but I can handle it ( this na trick to make him soften his mind towards me, I was not really tensed because my spirit was just happy with him hearing his friendly and previous interview conversation with a lady before me. somehow, my trick worked!)
VO: (now looked at me) you don't have to be tensed, you will be fine! So, why /wu:str/ polytechnic institute?
Me: (me don prepare and practice the answer to this question countless times) /wu:str/ polytechnic institute is a very famous institution in the field of robotics and the department of mechanical engineering has a robust and active research group in biomedical engineering, these areas of research very much align with my research interest. Also, the mechanical engineering department have faculties with excellent research profiles, for example, professor Wiston who will be supervisor is very renowned and is a leading industrial expert in the field of robotics and biomedical engineering. (since the VO nor cut me, I continued because I have a lot of information about this question to dish out). The institute is ranked the top 6th best universities in mechanical ....
VO: (cuts in) It appears you are sound and knows what you are doing.
Me: (with satisfaction but not confidence) thank you sir!
VO: are you married?
Me: no sir
VO: have you travelled before out of Nigeria?
Me: no sir
VO: do you have any kid?
Me: no sir
VO: Okay, (VO sha talk some things buh me nor put ear down again) I will be issuing your visa. Have you got a winter jacket?
Me: no sir
VO: Please get one, you will need it when you arrive, (me don de smile de say ''thank you sir'' like who see army uniform), go to 'somtin somtin' window and pay your reciprocity fee.

Recommendations: Practice and do as much mock interviews as possible, these will boost your confidence and moral. Praise and prayer sessions very important, these will make you (luckily) have a lenient VO or find favour in the sight of the VO (personal perspective).

Wish all those having interviews in future success!!

Hello house, when filling the DS-160, is it proper to write just the course of study only, or I should write my concentration in bracket?

Thanks.

Tulane offers application fee waiver for a couple of their programs especially PhD... It is nothing to worry about.

Yeah, it happens.
They may still send in another mail telling you to complete your registration.
But to be on a safe side, send them a mail asap and clarify with them

Please anyone had experience with using Nigerian National ID card (The one that looks like photocopied but with NIN) with Duolingo English Test?
They just rejected mine saying it's not my original ID.
Please, how do you think I can go about it?

They don't work weekends, so I don't think they're included. To be on the safe side, wait till Thursday. Also, in addition to the i-120 and sevis receipt, also upload your admission letter and offer letter(like someone did somewhere above). And compose the mail well. Make sure you're within 60 days of resumption. To avoid denial

according to what she reported to me, the conversation was like this(only 3 questions)
**after the initial greetings and biometrics***
V.O: why are u going to the US
She: I am going to support my husband who's currently having his PhD at (name of sch)
(v.o confused the i20 as F1 and she corrected him it's F2 - maybe cos of my own copy that she also took along)
V.O: Do you have any kid(s)
she: No
V.O: who is sponsoring you?
she: my mother-in-law
V.O: sorry you do not qualify...(214b reason)
***No further questions, no documents checked***

can u pls say why u think using my US SOA is not cool?
