What the hell? Is that the evidence that we are asking for? How does that prove anything?

Anyway, your question is, "Show me one Nigerian leader, just one who has ever been charged for corruption" (please don't shift the goal post later).

I'll give you two, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sani Abacha.

Show me their charge sheets pls

The British didn't travel all the way down to Nigeria to develop it, they came for business, when we got tired we sent them out because we understood their business exploit affected us hugely.

Our problem is not with the britisB cause we have seen the way they're running their country to almost perfect state, our problem is with the ones that thought they could do it but became far worse and dehumanising than the business men themselves.

Nigerian leaders are 1000 times BETTER than the British colonial looters were. This is something many of you are too thick to understand.

They did not come for "business". They came to LOOT YOUR RESOURCES. That is what colonialism is about - looting. Not
"business".

The British ruled for 63 years and built not a single university or power station in Nigeria. Kainji Dam was our first power plant, and was commissioned by the Balewa administration in 1964.

Today we have built 200 universities since independence. When the Brits left, Nigeria was just a big bush with nothing but illiterate village peasants and nake.d malnourished children.

Today under indigenous rule, you are literate and exposed, whereas under colonial rule, your grandparents were illiterate village peasants. Indigenous rulers may be corrupt, but they have invested more in the country than the colonialists by a huge margin, from education to infrastructure, you name it.

Yeah. My dad told me this story many years back, I would say very reluctantly. Was common knowledge amongst those of them working in the UK during the civil war. Many, many things happened that Nigerians are unaware about before, during and after the war about people some of whom are considered national heroes today.

Today I know more about the First and Second World wars, the Korean War and the Vietnam war than the Civil War in my country. We are a nation of deep historical deficit. We know very little about this country called Nigeria, her history and her people. Little wonder we keep stumbling. There is nothing to learn from.

This was a verbal assertion from a young MP. Please I am not arguing or defending nobody. Adesina was accused of non-transparency in his first term as president of AFDB by the West but was cleared. GEJ was accused of preventing the rescue of the Chibok girls by the UK media but he gave his defense. Gowon was never a saint, but an allegation of that magnitude needs ample proof sir.
Look at the State of your country.

Do you need the west to tell you that your leaders have looted your future.

Was it not Gowon that said spending excess money is the problem?

Well, he didn't spend it. He just moved It to the UK.
Re: UK Parliament: Gowon Stole Money 'Half Of The Central Bank Of Nigeria' by CSTRR: 11:51am On Nov 24, 2020
It may Also be why the UK was solidly behind him during the civil war.

I learnt that he was fondly called the "queen's boy" in the Royal court whenever he came to the UK to curry support.

He left to the UK after the coup. Look at that MP. He's quite young. If he did not have facts or have information about such, believe me, Gowon is not a poster boy for corruption in Nigeria. Just as you mentioned. The easy targets are Abacha, IBB and OBJ. I doubt he could have known about Gowon from listening to tales on the street of London. It must be some serious information for him to have mentioned Gowon.

You're either child or an ignorant stupid idiot with this kind of reasoning. Somebody just told you that gowon stayed 9 yrs in power and could have used that period to loot as much as he wanted without waiting for when he will be toppled and here you are asking the receipt of the said loot. Do you honestly think that UK education system is so shamble that they don't teach their successive students history of their country and that of other countries? Do you think that this man will come out and start making a weighty allegations without having proofs and backing? Btw, is this the first time you're hearing about Gowon looted half of the central bank? Tomorrow you will ask for the proof that buhari have looted more than all of them put together.

Did you read the part I said Nigeria to the British was/is a mere business ground?

The british didn't come here for development but merely business and at this discovery they were asked out by the pro-colonialist.

The question isn't about what they British did but what those who made Nigerians believe they're better off than the colonial masters, those who raised hope of our people but failed.

They're the ones to be questioned cause they too came from amongst us.

Are you a kid? How old are you, please? Which civil war was fought with bow and sticks? It is offensive to read some of the things you people post here. A war from 1967-1970 was fought with bow and sticks?

Oh me! There were guns! There were airports then! Nigeria had a good military which was equipped by Britain. Then Nigeria cut off food supply channels so many of the Biafran people died from starvation and hunger.

If you had a working brain, which you don't, you would realise that corruption, like drug trafficking, is a RACKET that involves multiple players in multiple countries, who facilitate the moving around of money.

This is why when the US govt goes after drug gangs, they don't limit it to US based mules, who are often the small fry. They send special agents to Colombia, Mexico etc, to fish out the heads of the networks, and take them out, or drag them to the US for trial etc.

UNTIL WE HAVE THAT SAME APPROACH TO CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA, you will NEVER end that problem here.

Until you grow the balls to tell the big banks and big shots in England, France, Switzerland, etc to STOP ENABLING CORRUPTION IN AFRICA, you will keep being STUPID.

What kind of joke is this? I really don't like it. I was prepared to concede to you if you came forward with facts of "A NIGERIAN LEADER CHARGED WITH CORRUPTION" instead you came forward with Azikiwe and the colonialists and the Abacha estate!! Guy you should have just said your good day and moved on.

I am not the person making the allegation and your legal maxim is actually the reason I asked that question of you. If no Nigerian leader has ever been charged for corruption not to mentioned being indicted for corruption, then can we safely assume that no Nigerian leader is corrupt as you would want to push?
My point is the MP who made that statement does not know Gowon from anywhere so he could not just have conjured such statement out of nowhere as you all want it to look like. Heck, he was probably not born when Gowon ruled Nigeria. I now call your attention to a Nigerian saying his father worked in the UK High commission in London then and such stories abound then and you flare up.
Be careful oo!!

During the debate today, Monday the UK Parliament discussed about the #EndSars protest as well as the excesses of the Nigerian government officials. In that session, a shocking revelation was made where a UK Parliament member revealed that Nigerian Hero, civil war veteran and former Head of state stole so much money - it could be equated as "Half the cnetral bank of Nigeria', - during his reign as leader of the nation and hid it in London.
