The Senate Committee on Airforce, said on Thursday that Nigeria stood the risk of losing $493m paid to the United States for the purchase of Super Tucano fighter planes.

The panel said the nation’s runway at the moment was not up to the standard and could not carry the fighter jets.

The Federal Government had wired in $493m in 2018 to a US company to tackle insurgency and other security challenges facing the country.

The Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Mike Nnachi, raised the alarm while presenting the 2021 budget report of the Air Force before the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

He told the lawmakers that when the Americans came to inspect the Kanji runway, recently, they complained that the facility did not have the capacity to carry the aircraft.

He, therefore, said there was the need to make provision for additional N9bn that would take care of the runway and aircraft or else Nigeria will lose the money and the aircraft.

Nnachi said, “It is a very serious issue, the Airforce personnel are running around. They have gone to the Finance Minister. They have also gone to the Central Bank of Nigeria, and they have gone to meet the Senate President because the money needed was not part of the main budget.

The Super Tacano is a lightweight turboprop multirole combat aircraft more suited for air to ground support and surviellance missions.

It requires very short runway for take off and landings .

What in God's name are these idiots talking about specialized runway when the aircraft can even land in remote jungle grass fields?

The fact that they approached the US instead of the main manufacturer (Embrar) in Brazil just shows how corrupt, stupid and criminally insane these idiots running the armed forces are.

It wasn't Trump but the deep state swamp creatures from the Obama and Clinton era whom your Buhari negotiated the purchase of these aircrafts from an American Pentagon contractor instead of directly going to Brazil .

This deal was kickback for the Obama, Clinton and DNC crooks for propping and supporting Buhari in 2015.

The only time it will get to Trump is for final approval of the arms trade which was ratified and submitted by Obama swamp holdovers to Trump.

The whole deal stinks. And this runway clause is another fleecing. Is the US responsible for it's maintainace and operation?

Only God knows how many crooked deals Obama and Clinton are bennefiting from this useless APC govt.

Remember also that Buhari and the APC donated hefty sums to the Clinton presidential campaign .

AFSAC awards $36.1 million construction contract for A-29 beddown

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and Embraer Defense & Security successfully conducted the inaugural flight of an A-29 Super Tucano light attack, combat and reconnaissance aircraft for the Nigerian Air Force at the production facility in Jacksonville, Florida, April 16.

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFLCMC) – Construction of new facilities to support an A-29 Super Tucano wing at an air base in Nigeria, has started, after the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate’s Foreign Military Sales Construction Division awarded a $36.1 million contract to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District.

The facilities will support 12 Nigerian Air Force A-29 aircraft, and include the construction of new airfield hot cargo pad, perimeter and security fencing, munitions assembly and storage, small arms storage, a flight annex wing building for simulator training, airfield lighting, and various airfield apron, parking, hangar, and entry control point improvements.

With this recent contract award, we are ready to be part of the modernization of Nigerian Air Force facilities and infrastructure,” said Brig. Gen. Brian Bruckbauer, director of the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate. “As a member of the Nigeria A-29 FMS Program, and this being AFSAC’s first major construction project in sub-Saharan Africa, we are thrilled to be able to support the Nigerian people in advancing their defensive capabilities. We look forward to building and strengthening this strategic partnership with the Nigerian people.”

The useless and ignorant Nigerian senate once again displayed their uselessness and ignorance, this is the most embarrassing rubbish from Nigerian lawmakers.

We've already awarded contract for the best military engineering and construction outfit in the world to construct airfield and other facilities for the 12 Super Tucano so what (United States Army Corps of Engineers)

We've already paid for it and it's part of Super Tucano package with all manner of sophisticated weapons and delivery systems.

The acknowledgement above is from the US Government via Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, home of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

So, what dumb and ignorant rubbish are these useless, lazy and incompetent senators are talking about?

One thing I love about the Super Tucano and weapons purchase from the US is the fact that it's a country to country transaction, no middle men like before when the useless lawmakers and their cronies in the defense ministry used to hand over billions to crooked middle men and end up importing used and obsolete military hardwares into Nigeria.

We singed valid contract directly with the US government and we have our receipt to supply planes, weapons, guided and unguided munitions including airfield construction, hanger, bedding and maintenance facilities.

These useless clowns need to stop embarrassing Nigeria.

Which country to country purchase?

The Super Tucano is manufactured by Brazilian Embraer Aircrafts.

Why didn't your stupid Buhari approach Brazil but rather approached a US Pentagon contractor who only purchased the aircraft from Brazil and installed US avionics at twice the cost from Embraer?

This deal stank from the very beginning

The only reason it had to go through Trump is because US arms sales law dictate that the US State department must vet every foriegn deal involving US based contractors .

This deal was a crooked compensation package by Buhari and APC to the Obama and Clinton's for putting him in power and was only faccilited with Trump in office via Obama and Clinton holdovers in both the State department and DoD.

Who outsources every aspect of their defense system to one nation ?

Talking rubbish since you entered this thread.

That aircraft is manufactured in Brazil and only retrofitted with avionics and weapons systems using outdated US tech .

The Super Tucano was first donated to Afghan forces by the US and since they wanted their own contractors in the US to chop as well, they signed a deal with a local Pentagon contractor to have it assembled and retrofitted with 2 Gen avionics and weapons systems.

Just shut up and take your zombie hailing from this thread

When this deal was signed in 2016, was there any mentions of US military engineers building runways and logistic buildings ?

You go just they find who you go blame for your stupid corrupt APC dunces.

Idiot, the Super Tucano is manufactured by Brazilian Embraer Aircrafts

This is one click away.

You idiotic goat of a president went through a Pentagon contractor linked to the Clinton and Obama foundations.

This same company was granted the contract to supply Super Tucano aircrafts to Afghan forces by the Obama administration.

This is an elaborate compensation package to the Obama's or else what stopped your idiotic president from sourcing the aircraft directly from Brazil at much more lower cost?

Pentagon awards $329 million contract to Sierra Nevada for 12 A-29s for the Nigerian Air Force, more than two years after it was first mooted

Sierra Nevada has been awarded a long-awaited contract for 12 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft for the Nigerian Air Force, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a release.

[b]Work will be performed in Jacksonville, Florida, and is expected to be completed by May 2024.

https://www.thedefensepost.com/2018/11/29/nigeria-a-29-super-tucano-contract-sierra-nevada/

1. We did not buy anything from Brazil and the planes are not being built in Brazil.

2. The US Government via the Pentagon award the contract to Sierra Nevada in Jacksonville Florida in the US to build the plane on our behalf and we paid the US government directly.

3. Have you asked yourself why we paid the US government for Brazilian planes instead of Brazil or why we bought weapons and munitions for the planes from the US instead of Brazil and why the planes are being built in the US instead of Brazil and why the US is building airfield and support facilities for the planes here in Nigeria instead of Brazil?

4. Brazil is the origin of the plane, but what we are buying is coming from Sierra Nevada corporation in Florida, USA hence the involvement of the US government and the Pentagon.

Have you asked yourself why why the transaction is in the US Government Register Archives?

The US government/Pentagon awarded the contract to build the plane too an American company called Sira Nevada to be built in the Florida, USA.

You ignorant illiterates won't learn and instead of learning, you confuse yourselves with dumb and ignorant stuff that you don't know anything about.

This is good news on that front then. But don't you think the culprits of this potential scam is not just the senators but even NAF?
Read what the senator said below:

If what the senator said is true, then does it not mean NAF is actually the one trung to fleece Nigeria and playing on the ignorance of the Finance Minister, CBN governor and even Senate president in this matter?
I think we should put the blame where exactly it lies.
