I do support the lady's rudeness, but the company should have informed her on the method they would use to contact her in case she was selected. It is just standard procedure.
when you are sending your CV to companies, is it your father's phone number you put in your CV? undecided

you make think that you are intelligent but you lack common sense

What's amusing is the way she switched from the stupid short form to a formal way of texting.

The fact that it's a strange number and she didn't know who it was isn't an excuse to have replied the way she did. He was polite from the beginning of the conversation and didn't deserve such reply, stranger or not. All she had to reply was either a hello in return or a greeting. Wait for the next message from the fellow before you start to craze.

She won't be forgetting this one in a long time. This will teach her to be polite with any new contact on WhatsApp/anywhere else, serious person or not grin

Dude, how is receiving whatsapp messages from unknown person a breach of privacy and security?

Must we find excuse for everything?

"Hello, good evening Mary."

This here shows that the sender you know her a little.

The best rude response should be "Good evening, please who is this"?

Not "Hu is dis" followed by "how did you get my number"

Call a spade a spade.

5n is not a response to good evening in any language on earth and there's nothing "nonsense" in being told to calm down.
Just wait a minute. Are you implying that stalkers cannot get your number and know your name through means unknown to you?

You are still missing the point here!

Most people behave differently under different circumstances:

The way Mr. A would react when a stalker gets his name and number would be different from the way Mr. B would react.

We all cannot behave the same under the same condition. Which is why the company should have taken the pains to notify her prior to the time.

....I agree with you that we all respond differently to different situations.

But being polite is just a simple curtsey.

And who is she to tell the company on how to notify her?

This is your OWN response. And not everyone will act the way you would under a given situation. Remember that

No reason for any one to be rude to a strange person at all.
Be it physically or on any platform that is being used.
It's a simple and easy way to greetings any body that is greeting you for the first time in a polite manner.

Anything less than a cuttesy greetings to a strangers at anytime is a sign of foolishness and mannerless

This has happened to me before.

A young man was recommended by a senior staff in my organisation. The staff said he knows the young man that he is a very fervent member in his church and that he is a good person. I asked what his qualifications was and i was told he has an HND.

I told him my reservations about this guy. 1. That i dont rili like to work with those pple that carry church in their head and 2. He is a an HND holder and the job is for a driver, i feel he is over qualified. Though the pay for drivers in my firm is about 150k, i still feel he is over qualified, i have my reasons.

He persuaded me, told me how the guy just got married that 150k wld go a long way in his life.

I agreed. I called him for interview, he was so gentle and soft spoken. I told him abt my reservations about employing him, and he swore that he was not anything like what i thought.

I agreed to employ him. So i needed him to send me the name of his referees and email addy so they can reference for him. I used my other number to calm him. The conversation went like this:

Me: hello, good afternoon.
Him: who his this?
Me: wasted like 2 seconds to respond. My name is t......
Him: who the fulk is this. I dont have time for shit u better say who you are or bounce off my fone.
Me; i interviewed you today from (the name of the firm)
Him: sir am so sorry i didn't know its you, pls sir can you hear me out... I was in the......
Me: ended the call and bounced as he said i shd.

That was how he lost the job. My senior colleague that recommended him couldnt even ask me to employ him... Because he know the ethics in the organisation.

I agree, but try and look at it from this perspective : you receiving a text from an anonymous number on WhatsApp is a breach on your privacy and security. And as you know, this is 9ja, and you cannot vouch for the next man. So her response is only natural given the circumstances
What is natural? Are you alright? cheesy

A lady identified as Mary who applied as an intern in a firm last month lost the job because of the way she replied the interviewer unknowingly on Whatsapp.

The interviewer greeted her but before he could introduce himself, she was already blasting him with questions. Even when he tried to calm her down, she refused.

in her words:Wat nonsense, don’t tell me 2 calm down. Who is this?

Lol extreme frustration In the land plus when your Village people finally pick your call lol......

Bro, if you message me on WhatsApp irrespective of who you are, I will first greet you sir or MA.
Cos I will want to believe for you to have my number, you must have gotten it from someone or somewhere

Oga, in saner climes, there is what we call a "Standard Procedure" of recruitment.

This is done by companies with an organised structure on ground and most of these companies (except you are running a mushroom company ) have this standard procedure for REACHING out to applicants. It can be through SMS, WhatsApp, Social media, Newspapers etc.

These companies will notify you(the applicant) prior to when the outcome of the interview is out.

And not through impromptu tactics being done here by this...this...chai! I do not know even know what to call this company sef.
oga na rubbish illusion be this .be like you never apply for visa interview wey be say VO go just call you unprepared and that's the actual interview o.nothing justifies her actions period .

Im not being over religious. Evethough it has a spiritual tone to it, it's a normal thing. That's why we have the saying, Whats gona be is gonna be" there's nothing to do about it.
