While looking at volume can help investors determine where price action might be headed, on-balance volume produces clearer signals that assist investors looking to act on a trade. Volume shows crowd sentiment as price bars carve out patterns that predict a bullish or bearish outcome.

Volume supporting price action creates convergence, adding reliability to directional signals. Opposing action creates divergence, warning that market forces are in conflict, with one side eventually taking control. Volume interpreted through an accumulation-distribution indicator clarifies this process, giving reliable signals that influence position choice and trade management.

On-balance volume (OBV), developed by Joseph Granville in the 1960s, packs enormous use into a simple accumulation-distribution tool that tallies up and down volume, adding or subtracting the result in a continuous sub-total.

The formula generates a smooth indicator line that carves out highs, lows, and trendlines similar to price bars. Comparing relative action between price bars and OBV generates more actionable signals than the green or red volume histograms commonly found at the bottom of price charts.

On-balance volume (OBV) is a simple accumulation-distribution tool that tallies up and down volume, creating a smooth indicator line to predict when major market moves might occur based on changes in relative trading volume.

OBV works best when testing around major highs and lows to measure for possible breakouts and breakdowns.

Investors can use OBV to provide many key predictions, such as a bullish divergence predicting the price will break resistance or a bearish divergence predicting a rally will stall or reverse.

This is not the best approach to invest in stocks.

You have to do the following: Determine your investment objective - why do you want to invest in stocks, for what purpose and for how long.
Do you have some basic knowledge on how the stock market works? if answer is no then start by investing in yourself by reading some materials and previous pages on this thread.

However, you don't have to be an investment guru to start; most of the gurus started as a newbie as well, you get experience and learn more while at it.

There is a way to work around this funny information. As long as you don't buy 500k unit at a go or multiple times same day, you won't be blacklisted.

For eg If I want to buy 1M units, I can choose to buy within (100k to 400k) within 10 to 3days as the case may be.

If they find out our plan, we would change again accordingly grin . Na Dem go tire.

Problem is, opportunity(-ies) to buy or sell at projected prices doesn't come in a regular pattern.

There is no need for this policy other than profiling of investors for godsknowswhy. sad

I think you wanted to say flagged and not blacklisted. Legally there is nothing wrong with this move as various forms of reporting is common with financial transactions in Nigeria. For example Banks and Real estate developers have statutory obligation to report some transactions to EFCC through SCUML and other regulatory authorities. Only few comply though.

However Growth wise this is another foolish move by the Buhari government because there is time for everything. A wise leader wont bring such policy to a market that is on a recovery journey as investors may bolt with their money.

With the way this military regime is borrowing and restricting funds they may soon start to freeze bank deposits.

This!

It's unfortunate but just like they work their way around the system to suit their most of the time personal agendas, we also have to think of a way to work around the system to suit our own personal agenda too.

Well, we all have plans, but on the long run it will affect the market.

Now the so called CSCS KYC is starting to make sense.

Buhari is targeting capital gain tax. CGT.
This is different from Witholding tax on your dividends.
The first is profiling of investors.(done with KYC update of investors)
The 2nd phase is knowing how much you are gaining by investing or trading on NSE?
The third is grouping Nigerians into tax brackets. Under dz phase, the poor earners will be excluded. The money from the rich will be transferred to fund the poor. The praise singers of Buhari will be the utmost beneficiaries of the Scheme, coz the money will be looted before implementation. The government might lunch a bound to fail social security service.
The fourth agenda is implementation of this brutal anti-investors policy.
Buhari has sold Nigeria.

Then by now you would have known the basic rule of - buy low and sell high. So you buy when prices are low and sell when it's high. That is the very basic.
All analysis you read or hear people talk about ends with just that simple basic understanding.
This is the period most investors position in dividend paying stocks like FUGAZ and others. Prices are higher though compare to what it was earlier in the year. You can watch and see if prices pull back or buy in trenches to average down.
However applying the basic rules is determined by your investment objective. A long term investor may not be too bothered about price like a trader. Some long term investors ie dividend seeker can make do with 8% dividend yield so to that investor he may not wait for a stock like zenith to be N20 or less before he buys but a trader will

Something comes to mind. While in university a friend mentioned that some people trade anonymously by using their financial investor or their lawyers to trade. This way the buck stops at them and it’s forbidden by Attorney–client privilege or lawyer–client privilege for them to reveal their clients. Now ofcourse some small service providers will shake when slapped with law suit from govt, hence you will need a lawyer that has clout and reputation/money who isn’t afraid. Think Rotimi Williams status etc
Ofcourse this is all to say if what my friend said was true.
grin grin

Edited :-
To make it harder sef. You can use a lawyer in a different country with no Nigeria international policy relation. It doesn’t even have to be outside of Africa. Am sure even another African country in ecowas will be hard enough let alone one without political relations etc
I love my country Oooo and am loyal to Nigeria forever. Happy to pay my taxes and abide by any law mandated by the govt. This is all just playing with ideas grin grin

There is no way to avoid government hammer.
Except you don't invest in Nigeria.
Already, the govt has linked all registered BVN, with Tax Identification Number (TIN).
The painful thing is that the tax paying people in Nigeria are not benefiting from the proceeds.
No way out.
The government is hell bent on spending the unclaimed dividends for funding 2021 budget. This is an antithesis, coz government had already collected witholding taxes on same assets.
Nigerians told the government to diversify the economy, this is Buhari way of economic diversification.
VATs increase
Witholding dividends increase
Now CGT introduction is knocking.
Let's see how the tax profiling will look.
If it excludes people earning less than N25, 000,000/year, then the government might have an easy ride, but the way this government is broke, they might want to include people earning N5, 000,000/annum and above.
The worst scenario, the government will tax you CGT, if you earn more than N3, 000,000/year.

CGT is designed to tax equity investors all over the world. It might even include foreign assets and equities, Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency.
Let's expect the worst scenario and hope for the best.
