Imade did not originated from Igodomigodo, ADE is a Yoruba word and it is used mostly as prefix or suffix in names just as imADE, ADEsua, ADEwole, ADElabu, orimolADE etc. Yorubas that migrated from Ife with Oranmiyan and they settled and mixed with the Aborigines in Benin with Eweka being the one who started the Obaship dynasty that birth the Benin empire, you people are just so funny with the way and matter you want to turn the history upside down. The Yorubas mixed and blend with those from Igodomigodo land well, instead to do your thing over there, you are appropriate all what you adopted from Ile Ife such as gods, I have seen Benins claiming they own the gods Olokun, Olosa, Sango, Ogun etc na wa o. If you people want to Practice some of this gods fine, we have people Practice This Yoruba gods even in Haiti, Brazil, and many Caribbean countries, they are not claiming they own it or it originated from them. In fact the way Benin people uses Ogun to swear, even we Yorubas the owner do not use it negatively like that, any small thing the Benin will say Ogun na gbo e or something like that. Ogun is not meant for swearing unnecessary Ogun is the god of Iron and it is meant for justice.

Simple English what is the meaning of imade in Edo and the one for Yoruba... Do they have the same meaning?

You can as well ask me what is the meaning of Idowu undecided I personally don't even know the literal meaning of Imade or Adesua in Yoruba, maybe some Yoruba with deep knowledge of names in Yoruba might know but what am saying which am 101% sure is that this are part of the influence not only the coming of Oranmiyan also the ages of intermariages btw Yorubas and the Aborigines of Igodomigodo birth. Let say Ile Ife + Idu/ Igodomigodo = Benin. I read one of your comments where you said Benin influenced Yoruba, I just laughed and I felt no need to reply because it will be going back and forth on this issues, I hope you are aware lots of Benins are bearing Femi as their names now right?? And with the way you Benin are going about trying to twist this things, there is every probability that the next 20-30 years we will see the Benin generation of that era claiming they own the name Femi and Yoruba adopted from them.

U don't know the literal meaning of imade in Yoruba language but u say it's a Yoruba name?

In Benin it means I stood firm... Do they mean the same in Yoruba even in a literal sense?

There is no Benin generation bearing Femi... U are referring to the Akoko Edo people,Because it doesn't mean anything in our language

Adesuwa means a child born in affluence... Does it mean the same in Yoruba?

Who's claiming that Edo is Yoruba?

The OP is not Yoruba or Edo, but pointed out his observations. It seems you are invested in making an argument where it doesn't exist.

I said what I said based on the average Yoruba man greedy attitude in dragging what he didn't work for.
Some Yorubas claim some parts of Edo are Yoruba land, but they are wrong!!!! No inch in Niger Delta belongs to you thieves!
You guys are blinded with our oil that's why you want to claim any ethnicity in the Niger Delta that has little similarity with you guys. You guys should be contented with your 6 states and your cocoa, even the oil rich part of Ondo state is Ijaw land,so leave them alone.
Stay away from our oil and learn tell your people to be hardworking!!!
Edo is not Yoruba!!!!
Itshekiri is not Yoruba!!!
Illaje is not Yoruba!!!!
Ijaw is not Yoruba!!!

In Edo language, Imade is actuatually "Imadeyunuagbón" which means I did not fall to the expectation of the world.

1. Mama, ima(EY)= mother

De = to arrive, to come back

Imade = Mama is back, reborn

Other CY/EY/WY variations are Yetunde also Iyabọ

2. Imade = To pick crown

In Benin it means I stood firm

You are correct Ade mean Crown/Royalty, I have read lots of articles on the Ogisos and the coming of Oranmiyan influences the land and the culture, that's why culture and language is dynamic. In this pics below are examples of name people bear in Edo, you will find Ade as prefix or suffix, even Adedoyin, Adetutu, Adesusu, AdesUWA. This simply shows a fusion between the Yorubas (Ife migrants) + Idu/Igodomigodo the Aborigines of that land.

Oga.. they are words that don't mean the same thing...

Adesuwa (Benin)- one born in affluence
Adesewa(Yoruba)- crown of beauty

Even though I'm Yoruba but I think Igbo language is far better than our language and I urge every Yoruba person to learn Igbo

Some people are out here with multiple accounts/monikers and paid by whoever to ceaselessly continue to cultivate hatred between Igbo and Yoruba... My brothers beware of them. It is a full-time paid job so please all Yorubas and Igbos on this platform should be aware of this. Whenever you see comments like this one above please know it's them and not a Yoruba or an Igbo person behind the keyboard.

My happiness is that what you are doing is one of the six things the Bible says God hates, therefore I curse you that any single kobo or naira you make from this devilish endeavor will only fast-tract the destruction of your family.

Let Igbos and Yorubas alone in this country, we will live side-by-side for ages with only minimal and negligible conflict as every other tribe of the south would.

Again, the destruction you're cooking is waiting for your own family,; God will not fail to visit you.

First of all, Yoruba is originally in reference to the Oyo empire and it was the name Hausa people called them (i.e. Oyoruba). Meaning an Ijebu man is Ijebu and Egba people are Egba.

Second of all, Edo was another empire and empires can comprise of different tribe of people who may not be the same. So, even the Benin empire of today can never lay claim of Ekiti or Ondo, even though they were part of the Benin empire. Even Bini and Esan people are different but know they have a history.

Third, the idea of calling people bastards to claim superiority is very weak. The British dismantled the empires and the Nigerian government cancelled history but that doesn't give you the right to insult people who you don't know.

Oranmiyan who founded the oba dynasty, gave the name Benin, and those who descended through him are known by these name, but the term Edo is not found in Yoruba vocabulary, the logic there is that the ones called Benin carries oranmiyan blood, and oranmiyan is a Yoruba man
