Good morning everyone!

Quick one...I will soon complete my MSc in Korea (in Feb 2021) and intend to apply for PR asap.
I have gone through the posts and clicked most of the clickables and the truth is, the websites are confusing (plus the changing covid19 rules seem to affect everything)

before I proceed, here are my info:

Education:
*B. Eng (Mechanical Engineering)
* M.Eng (Mechanical Engineering)

Occupation:
*Machine Shop Assistant (Mechanical Engineer)- 4 years in Nigeria
*Graduate Research Assistant (2 years) - in Korea

Research Publications: 5

English language proficiency
*IELTS Academic (7.5) (will expire in 2022)

Marital status: Single

Age: 31 (by March 2021)

please where exactly should I start?

The place to start on all eligibility for skilled migration to Australia is https://www.anzscosearch.com/points-test/
The Website actually has a lot of information, but you start by calculating your points.
Select the 189 visa while testing and from what you have written, I think you should be able to have a minimum of 75 points on 189.
If you do, then check https://www.anzscosearch.com/233512 ( that is your profession and click each of the tabs inside ( Visa Options, S/T Eligibility, Backlog etc)

I just checked my score, like you said, its 65; however, I am a bit confused...so its either I use B.Eng or Ph.D.?
MSC from another country is not relevant?

1. Unless you have a Ph.D. *already*, I don't know if you can use it as a pathway but you can still find out.

2. In my opinion, the 65 is low and you may stay in the pool for very long with that. I suggest you try IELTS again and try to aim a minimum of 8 in all bands - it is very possible especially if you get one of these international textbooks and/or coaches. That would give you additional 10 points which would take your 491 to 90 points ( i.e 75 + 15 additional points for 491)

If you are going under skilled visa, the only assistance he can render to you is to pay your application fees. The actual skills assessment will be what you have got.

Sorry I'm just replying.
I don't really have much experience outside Computer and Engineering related professions.
That said, I think you should check the Anzcosearch.com website for a profession that is related to procurement/supply chain.
When you've done that you'll see the body that's to assess you and their requirements. As much as possible, make sure that the profession is on the MLTSSL list (You'll find that on Anzsco too).
You can also ask @bellong, @tunlex01 et al on this. All the best!

Just came across this thread and would really appreciate your assistance.
I started up the Australia PR sometime in October, below are my details

Age: 43
Degree: B.Eng
Course: Civil Engineering
Total Years of experience: 18years
IELTS: 7.5
Engineer Australia: CDR submitted

for my Wife

Age: 38
Degree: B.sc & M.sc
Course: Computer Science & Information Tech Mgt
Total Years of experience: 13years
IELTS: 8

My plan is for both of us to have our own different profiles for 190,189 & 491

Do you guys think we have a chance or there's something else we need to do. Thanks

COVID isn't allowing us see the exact requirements by the States so I really can't tell which States would be inviting for your occupation until maybe February or March.
My advice is that you take the period between now and then to study and get a high score in IELTS. That would put you in a better position if your occupation is nominated. Also, I hope you have proof of employment such as Tax clearance/Bank Statement/Pay slips/ Pension etc
Have you calculated your points using the https://www.anzscosearch.com/points-test/ ?

Hi Sir
I think you have a good chance especially if your wife is the main applicant.
I am assuming that she has a minimum of 8 in each of the IELTS modules and you have a minimum of 7.5 too.
If that is the case, I'll only advise that she checks the backlog of whichever ICT occupation she wants to nominate to be sure that there aren't too many people vying in the same occupation eg ICT business analyst has become very competitive so it needs higher points so you can check other professions that are relevant to her duties or that she can get a reference for at work, and do not have too many people in the 85+ points range. This is so that you don't wait in the pool for too long.

On that, I advice you go through the MLTSSL here https://www.anzscosearch.com/mltssl/ and check the backlog of each ACS profession for her to see how competitive each would be and *maybe* check the STSOL list too (just type ACS in search button). When you've narrowed to a couple of occupations that would be best for you, then check the State Eligibility and what not.

All the best.

Please good evening, I have a quick question.
I have been working with a friend for years now, pay has not been regular, I get paid per project executed, although he is ready to generate pay slip and reference letter for me, and I as a person, I pay my tax by myself every two years from around 2013 and I have tax receipt.
My question is, can I use this tax I paid on self assessment for proof, being that I asked my friend and he said he doesn't do PAYE for his staff. Can I get tax clearance on this.

Per Nigerian Tax Law, Tax clearance may be issued ONLY FOR THREE YEARS PRECEDING YEAR OF APPLICATION, ie if you apply this year, you can only get Tax Clearance covering 2017, 2018 and 2019. I advise that you get to the tax office to apply before this year ends otherwise, in about two weeks from now, you won't be able to get a Tax clearance for 2017 anymore which MAY affect the number of years you are able to claim for experience, especially if that profession relies heavily on Tax Clearance Certificate.
I personally do not recommend having the Tax Office giving you tax clearance up till 2013, because it may backfire but if it's something you want to pursue, can't stop ya.

However, it's likely to be sufficient that you have payslips and Tax Receipts. Worst case, meet with the Tax authority in your State, explain that you need tax clearance for that long period (about 7 years calculating from 2013). If they talk about not issuing beyond the three year thing, ask if you can WRITE THEM requesting tax clearance from 2013, attaching your tax receipts, and then they can reply you QUOTING the law that they can only issue for 3 years preceding and the 3 year Tax Clearance Certificate.
You may now use a combination of your Tax receipts, the reply letter (on headed paper) and your tax clearance issued to prove your years of experience.

But as I said, it is likely that tax receipts would suffice. If not, please do the tax clearance application as quickly as possible.

well said @Knight1. However @DJMJ your tax receipt(s) is/are sufficient enough. It shows your name and the fact that tax is paid. You can back this up with a statement explaining that by virtue of your employment, you are assessed on PIT (personal Income tax basis - direct assessment) not PAYE (pay-as-you-earn).

For PIT (direct assessment) you are assessed annually - which should tally with the kind of receipt you have.

All the Best!

The next step would be the profession you wish to assess as. I recommend you search for all professions related to TAX and/or Accounting and read their backlogs to know if there are many people you'd be competing with.
I checked and 'Taxation Accountant' backlog looks like there aren't too many people applying so you would stand a chance, in my opinion, with that.

When you have narrowed your choices, check the assessment authorities and see the one that favors you especially since your degree is not in accounting. Saying this because some of them may flat out refuse to assess based on that, others may shave off years of experience etc.

None of the 3 bodies will accept Agric as educational qualification. For @zarinzaima08 to be a tax accountant means she must have had ICAN or ACCA. If it’s ACCA, you stand a better chance.
