That is the only possibility. We know you bought the sim card new but that particular digits have been used by someone before and the sim was later deactivated due to inactivity, reproduced as a new one which was bought by you.

So, that NIN is not yours and that use that sim if you are doing your own NIN registration.

I went to a certain designated centre today, then I was reminded how backward Nigeria was, I was at the centre at 4.30am and they said my No is 138, besides they will answer only 50person per day.

If our govt is not archaic, it's as simple to upload all details online, so we can fill our details online and fill and later they send us verification code... With that we can update or affiliate the code with our various network providers.... Backward govt..

May be you runs am na or during international passport process.

When i wanted to use bvn in GTBANK
I requested for a print out

Lo and behold


It already have NIN number on the full printout of the BVN page printed out for me!


Late 2019!
I did NIN REGISTRATION in ondo state

I gave them my bvn which start with 221
And the NIN Number that later came out with it
Turn out to be the same with the one i saw on my GTBank printout in 2018!

I tried using polaris and union that year to print my bvn in order to check if it will show nin

Take am easy na. The truth is that if you have BVN, you have a NIN number already. What you need do is register to retrieve. Also, there is a code you'll dial and your NIN will show, whether registered or not.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a NIN on my GTB app. So the comments here verify that if your BVN starts with 221 you do get one. My question now is, my NIN is a 10 digit number. The code verification is asking for an 11 digit number.

dial *785# with the phone number you want to link and enter your NIN and then submit.

the *785# dial code is specific for mtn users alone.

there are different dial codes for different mobile networks for NIN update.

for now, it's only the *346# dial code that's universal for all mobile networks to check the NIN eleven digit number.

He is using gtworld app not gtbank mobile app which you are using.

You can download gtworld app from playstore if you use Android phone.

It's hers, the NIMC and the bank found a way to get you your number even without you registering physically for the NIN using your BVN. I have been using my line since 2006 and never enrolled for the NIN till date but i still got a number when i tried the NIMC ussd code with the same line i used for the BVN registration. Stop assuming she is wrong without enough knowledge of the subject matter.

I just checked mine too now out of curiosity on my MTN and was surprised I saw the eleven digits number. I have never done this NIN before cos I have all been making use of my old National identity card issued years back.

Same here. Tho I have 11 digits NIN which was generated by simply dialing *346# from my BVN registered line, but this morning I logged into GTB online and the NIN displaying under my BVN is a 9 digit code starting with an alphabet, so what might cause this?

I think GTB is linking the BVN with the NIN in batches. I logged into my account via browser and saw they've already created a space for NIN. Maybe they will start linking BVN that starts with 222 and 223 this week (I hope)
