Las Las loan no be the way forward eating your future before you get there. Run from loan if you can but if you can't enjoy the wahala that comes with it.

Thanks sir, I appreciate. I can only let go if they'll send back a transparent message back to my contacts. I only took a loan of 5k and not 5 million. After the bad SMS, when I told them what really happened, they got irritated and offered to pay the bills instantly but I declined. That day happened to be an exam day, I couldn't concentrate.
5K.....wow!

Dear Sokoloan, I will be in my best behaviour while posting this.

I applied for a loan a month back which I didn't repay in time. I got a call from an extremely rude official 5 days after I received the loan. She informed me that payment is due and I should do that immediately. I tried to be friendly but she wasn't. I asked if I could pay part but she arrogantly declined.
The next day I got a call from her again with insults this time. I told her she's not professional with her work and that made her worse. She threatened to disgrace me in the worst way ever (via SMS). My phone got stolen that night. A day after she sent the most devastating message ever to all my contacts. How she got access to them still surprises me. In her message, she said I'm a wanted criminal on the run with company funds. I got tons of messages on Facebook and missed calls and messages on my other line - my former employers, course mates, lecturers, neighbors, family, besties, other influential people. I was really mad! I had over 300 contacts for Christ sake. I called her immediately to send a convincing message to my contacts. She was adamant and continued with her insult, I fired back not minding her age. I threatened to take the case to court, but I was financially down at that moment. My sister called her immediately she got one of her text and they ended up insulting eachother. I called her some days after, she was a bit calm, and I asked if she would resend another SMS and make everything transparent to my contacts. She said once the payment is complete we'd discuss that. When the payment was deducted automatically from my account, I called the number, but the new user doesn't seem to know me. She requested for my login number I gave her but she said she can't access my account. Up till now. I think I've been too calm with them and I am taking it up now.

The worse part of it is I lost most of my contacts which means I may not be able to clarify myself. This is the worst thing ever to happen to someone.

I've mailed them concerning the issue and I'm yet to get feedback.

You people take loans but don't want to pay back. Keep doing to others what u wouldn't want done to u. If everyone doesn't pay and the company folds and the owner becomes homeless, its you same Nigerians that will laugh at the person. As rich as banks are they won't even give loans. Your own government isn't doing anything yet Nigerians always want to take advantage of people who give them loans

It's bad debtors that made them like this

What I'm reading does not justify anything.

Imagine the embarrassment you get untop common 17k loan.

Go anywhere in the world, loans are not easy to pay back especially when you don't have a steady source of income.

That is why you need guarantors, collateral etc. to borrow money from many institutions.
Banks won't even borrow you money if you don't have steady source of income.

Nigerians are not bad debtors like this thread or the stupid sokoloan has portrayed.

Civil servants and business people have borrowed millions and payed back without problem and with exorbitant interest rates too.

Sokoloan is a stupid company that doesn't know how to run. They should leave the business to those that can handle it and focus on selling pampers in the market.

In a sane country, most people would just sue them for x100 of the amount they borrowed and the company will fold up.

Sokoloan has been the worst Loan App ever, they did same with me Wife last year just bcox she was expecting her payment from Npower but got dissapointed by salary not entering for almost 2 months, I had to take the matter upon myself trying to calm the guy in charge down Cox him and my wife had a heated argument also.... It's the only app dat would borrow u 5k and expect u to repay 9k within 15 days and if u didn't repay, it increases and yet they keep bombarding your contacts with bad msgs about you

Op, note that it's not the callers dat are sending dos msgs but it's a programmed msgs but you can talk to the person in charge to give u some more time and explain why u avnt make d payment, I think they can skip the system from sending those dirty msgs to ur contacts ... Meanwhile, always check REVIEWS on play store before downloading this kind of App, else na war for u oo. Sokoloan app is d worst App ever.

What I dont understand is how these loan sharks can append a profit index of 60 percent for a 14 day loan. Isnt the duration way too short considering the profit index? This country is truly a mess

I honestly struggle to see why Sokoloan is really at fault.

It is a bad experience for you but their loan to you helped you solve your problem when you needed it and it is possible that if they did not take those steps you may never pay back.

A lot of loan defaulters everywhere and they don't really understand the pressure their creditors are facing too. So I can relate with why Sokoloan took those steps. If you are in their shoes, you may do same too if your debtors cut off without paying their loan.

So so sorry about your experience but I really don't blame Sokoloan. If you challenge it in court, you will spend more and may win or lose.
Either way, you will enter the register of loan defaulters and considered a high risk loan applicant for ever.

The so called carbon and fairmoney should sit up too, they should up their game and be more strict, if not, they will liquidate very soon. All the commercial and microfinance banks that died prematurely, it was loan defaulters that caused their early death. Some people's mentality is that loan from banks is manna from heaven and part of the national cake

Yes, you're correct sir, but not 100%
Some people may have planned to pay back when salary arrives, while some others may went as far as uninstalling their app and discarding them.

As an official, the worse I could have done to hurry up reimbursement was:
Day 1: Call, introduce & inform the client about repayment
Day 3: Call and remind and ask reasons for delayment.
Day 4: Call and remind
Day 6: Call and threaten with informing Guarantors on your list
Day 7: Send SMSs to at most 5 guarantors. Try these and watch how the hardened Nigerian melt.

my candid advice: don't take loans from these lenders that won't be around for long. Your BVN is tied to the loan and it will definitely enlist your name with central credit bureau as a debtor even after payment, now how do you reconcile that when the so called lenders no longer operate. I have a lot of customers with the same experience. Na the matter we still dey try settle. If you need to take a loan, go to a proper financial institution with credibility, sign all the necessary documents, keep your own copy, pay up when payment is due, get your credit records updated and have peace of mind.

Day 1: Call, introduction without name, rude speech although
She called me "idiot" several times.
Day 2: Call, rude speech, threat.
Day 3: Called me, and some of my contact, insulted we all. Unfortunately I phone got stolen and I was restless.
Day 4: She started sending the destructive SMSs uptil day 7 or so
Day 4: I called her back about the reason she lied against me and told her to retype and send those messages. She ignored and threaten that, the SMS are just the beginning.
Day 4. I threatened to take the matter to case but I wasn't ready. She threatened to put my face on every newspaper. She said "You think I don't know your face, you this black man, watch & see". I was flabbergasted.

I swear. lol! Before I heard their horror stories, I once tried to get a loan from them...when I didn't get it that same day, I found another means to get the money I needed. Then, the evening of the next day, one guy from Sokoloan called me, and asked if I still needed the money, I said no, and he cut the line immediately like someone that was managing the credit on his phone. It was so unprofessional. I sharply deleted their app from my phone, and never installed it again.

On a serious note, you cant really blame them. Most people take loans with intentions of defaulting.
