The problems you listed are actually your answers.

Problem 1. Mind your business, what your brother does not know will not kill him besides you didn't say his business was doing badly because of her.

Problem 2. Forgive yourself.
Because

Problem 3.
She is a single mom who is vulnerable.
It is better she is cheating your brother to sustain her baby than she engages into prostitution.
If she dies from HIV or her baby dies from malnutrition because you made her lose her job or blocked her access..will you be able to forgive yourself?

She is young and attractive....you could as well start a relationship with her so that you can cater to her.
That way, what she steals is still within the family.

So in summary;
Mind your business and don't tell your brother. Forgive yourself for not telling your brother because the culprit is a single mother who needs to do what she is doing if she and her baby will survive.

Mr man tell your brother everything you have observed about his sales girls, what belongs to your brother also belongs to you. The girl in question is being paid her full agreed salary. Its wrong to say you like mindind your business in situations like this..How would you feel if the girl in question reap your brother his business capital and force him to resort to begging you for money to inject into the business or going back to the villages to stay as he doesn't have any money to run his business?.Confront the girl and confiscate the shop key from her and go through the sale book from when she started till date, calculate all the wuru wuru she has been doing and tell her to pay all the money.Neither you nor your brother made her a single mother,so nothing concerns you with how she sort herself out in that regard. She is reaping where she did not sow and you are there minsing words with her.Stand like a man and act like a man.

Better tell your brother. Do to others what you would want them to do to you. How can you even ask this question? Are you a kid? Is it until YOU are accused of stealing? Actually you are an accomplice.

Also for you to be emotional about correcting this, I am led to assume that you are sleeping with the lady or enjoy something sexual with her. You need a very heavy reset.

What is her pay, is it enough to sustain her and the baby. If not then your brother is FG of 2004 and the lady primary teacher.
So her pay is her reason for stealing? Good of you. How about she resigns if the pay is small. How many people can say their salary is enough for them? Do all go stealing?

Bros, report that lady to your brother, because if she continues stealing and not recording the item on the book, you brother might find out... And he will be disappointed in you, it's better you report her, and it's left for him (your brother) to fire her or not, after all you are not the person that impregnated her... I'm speaking from experience.

Good day guys, happy New year to everyone, please I will make this post as brief as possible.

My brother asked me to help him look after his business when he wants to travel for Xmas, and it happens that I know much about the business, and he have a salesgirl too whom from my observation is a single mother though she is still very young.

Now this is the problem, since I started coming to that shop, I noticed this girl used to do some uncertain things (wuru wuru), so I decided to be more watchful and that's when I found out what she has been doing in the shop. I have caught her red handed in this act.

The first occasion was during last week Tuesday when we were about to close for the day and I was going through the sales book only for me to realized that the items we sold earlier in the day, the quantity in the book was different from what we actually sold, she minus some quantity and I called her to it and she acted as if it was a mistake, I acted as if nothing happened.

Second incident was last week Saturday, I was in the shop and one woman came to the shop with an Item she bought from our shop, so I was in my corner not minding them but I realized she came to complain of something to her and later bought another thing, I saw the item she came with so after the woman left, I called the girl and asked her when the woman bought that item, she said it was on Thursday, so after sometime, I went to the sales book to check if she wrote it, but I was shocked when I went through the whole week sales but I couldn't find it. I kept my cool, till in the evening when we were about to go and i asked her to show me where she wrote it, only for her to be going through over and over again, I asked her, I thought you said you sold this thing on Thursday and she said no.

Now because we have closed for the day, she wrote it as Monday sales, but I keep wondering if it was only this item that the woman bought. Even is she sold it on Thursday and forget to write it down, the Money would have reflected after the close of the day, but it didn't, that means she intentionally stole the money. She is the one with shop keys and she opens the shop before i come every morning.

Now my problems are

1. I love minding my business

2. It's my brother's business which he entrusted to me to look after for him, so if after finding out all these things and still keep it to myself, if anything goes wrong in future I won't forgive myself.

3. This lady is a single mother and very young, I assume this is the only place she gets what she's using to take care of her herself and her baby, I really feel for her and I know she is going to loose her job if my brother gets to know about this.

Please what should I do?

Please forgive my errors, I'm not perfect
ur brother is ur family, u can't be looking at her stealing from ur family cos this is not public fund that everybody dive in to. Inform ur brother once he his back and make sure he send the girl packing cos she can't stop such act... Guide ur family against outside thieves ooo... Incase u need to arrest the girl I get officer for that

It's depressing really seeing the mindset of a lot of us Nigerian youth with some of the shameful advise/reply I'm seeing on this thread. What hope do we have when our citizens are this immoral?
And how dumb can an adult be by seeking advise on whether to expose someone that is practically a threat to the life of his brother and his family?
veektor01:
I am appalled at the response of some people here.
How the heck will this country move forward if little things like this can't be handled correctly?

Your brother is your blood and by extension you should treat his business like yours.
If it were your business, what will.you do?

Keep quiet?

Hell No.
Report the situation to your brother and let him handle it the way he wants.

The girl is a THIEF.
Simple.

OP this is God's counsel for you, once God reveals his express will on a particular subject no need to beat around the bush just do it.

Ephesians 5:11-12
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

1peter 3:13
If you are trying hard to do good, no one can really hurt you

Don't be afraid of what her reactions will be, if you don't help her now if she ends up in the cell or in hell you will end up as an accomplice who will share in the blame of turning the other way when you saw her doing something wrong. Moreover if you help her now she may hate you just for a while, but mark my word she will later love and appreciate you much more when she recovers herself and learn to live right. For the innocent baby don't bother yourself much, God who feeds the sparrow will take care of her, it's better to stop her now cos sooner than later she will transfer same pilfering or thieving spirit to the innocent child and that will be worse.

On what you should do,

Now that you know about it, just handle it the way you would have loved your younger brother to handle it if you were the owner of the business

Well in business there is no sentiment. If you send her away and employ another, there is every tendency that that person will do worse. I will advise you tell brother, so he could get her deciplined. If she repeats it again, then you send her packing.

Thank you. All these people shouting Sack! Fire! are the ones wanting the business to run down. If you fire every employee that steals who will run business? The proper method is to give adequate warning if it's a first offender, and device ways to prevent further stealing.

This is a totally wrong statement firstly stealing and prostitution are both wrong so none is better than the other. Secondly anything worth doing is worth doing well your brother entrusted you to something because he believes that if you see something you will talk. It's best you tell him and plead with him to be lenient on her.

If your brother business fails you will be held to book and if anything happens to her she would be held accountable for her choices not you she wasnt employed to still.

You were saddled with the responsibility of looking after the shop in your brother's absence. What is the essence of your brother entrusting the shop into your care as a supervisor if you can't discharge your duty by reporting all abnormalities and discrepancies.

So you want to wait till your brother's business collapse right? Or you don't know that sharp practices like that can kill a business overtime?

Tell your brother, let him get a computer to enter his purchases even if it is on excell for now and also enter sales on another Excel sheet at the end of every week or every two weeks, he should do the balancing and compare the figure with physical stock in the store

Get more irrefutable proofs that she is stealing. Then make a clear report to your brother. This is his business. If you keep this under the carpet, the desperate lady will set you up very soon and claim that you tried to rape her, so that she can totally discredit you.

My one Saudi Riyal.

Tell your brother but be diplomatic.

Firstly, there's nothing like minding your business here. I don't know your culture or religion but in Islam once you're charged with a responsibility, you must act in the best interest of those who charged you with the responsibility.

If your brother caught her by himself, do you think he would have sacked her or kept her? Your answer will determine if you're not betraying your brother.

In fact, since you're asking this question, it means you're almost certain that he'll fire her. So concealing this from him is betrayal.

Secondly, for your own safety and sanity don't let her know you've caught her. People, especially women, can be desperate and irrational when seeking revenge (even when they're wrong).

So you should be diplomatic. Even if your brother will fire her, she shouldn't know you're the one that exposed her. It's very important.

She is sensing it already, acting somehow since yesterday.

She even volunteer to go and buy me food today, I systematically refused

That way, what she steals is still within the family.

So in summary;
Mind your business and don't tell your brother. Forgive yourself for not telling your brother because the culprit is a single mother who needs to do what she is doing if she and her baby will survive.

Firstly @manofthe year is wrong to even ask for advice and say the things he said. Right is right and wrong is wrong. She is a thief. Call it what it is. The only way you can help her is to :
1. Correct that stupid behaviour by ensuring she doesn't steal again. That can be done easily by taking stock at the end of each day and ensuring the numbers match the items sold.
2. See if your brother is paying her poorly and ensure she is paid an ok salary
3. Do not condone bad behaviour from your brother her, anyone, correct any wrong while you can.

Peace.

I suspect you are also stealing from your brother hence you won't even think about keeping a thief in his shop.

You're not in any position to have a conversation with her. Simply report the matter to the authority who happens to be your brother, and let him handle it. He might even warn her and still forgive her.

If you don't tell your brother about this, you're also a partaker of her sins because you will only encourage it by keeping quiet.

People don't change, they become more of what they are.

Manoftheyear:

You want your brother to be out of business?
You owe her nothing but her salary! Except, your brother wants to willingly assist her with some stipends on his own volition. Stealing should not be condoned at all!
