Let's celebrate her any way we want. You might say you do not care for American politics, or who wins -- but you care enough to write a topic now when it's a woman, because I was going to suggest that creating a topic on the good things you think are worth hyping about Kamala might have been the way to go. You should have celebrated her the way you deem fit, and that would have gone a long way, with your voice added to the bulk of different women's opinions on equality — that you don't necessarily subscribe to.

I see you hold nothing against Kamala Harris and her being a woman, or equality, yeah?

I have explained why being FEMALE is a factor in her being celebrated "exceedingly." That doesn't say that she brought "femaleness" alone to the table.

We should learn to answer questions like this facts and not emotions like the people overly praising VP Kamala Harris, she brought minimal to nothing towards the success of her team n the election, Biden black votes is credited to obama , and and a very large sympathetic liberal media coverage. During the presidential primaries VP Harris was not even n top 3-4 among black voters, Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and even mayor Bill de Blasio had more favourable numbers ahead of her among black polls, infact over all she was amongst top 5-7 nationally, she started well and dropped so bad she pulled out early. another issue was she wasnt connecting with her black side of heritage due to her previous record as a state prosecutor, the video of Tulsi Gabbard crumbling and destroying her ambition during the live debate by listing her short comings esp to black people.

I said her contribution was minimal because i feel personally having made a promise during the primary campaign that his VP would be a woman and also seeking to cement his black and POC (people of colour ) numbers, Biden had to choose strategically and thus found her as the best person to fill that void. I will even say Mike Pence choice by trump in 2016 was more important than Biden choosing Kamala Harris in 2020 cos that gave trump a major push up to 80% favourabilty amongst evangelicals then.

For a woman of color, the daughter of immigrants, to achieve what she has achieved, to even be considered for the position of the VP is a GREAT achievement. Try to become the mayor of a town and see what it takes to assume a leading position on this scale and now consider that this woman is now the most powerful woman in the world.

It gladdens my heart. And it's worthy of celebration. 50% of the world population that is female can't be aptly represented by men only. She has set a good example to women of color, women in general, immigrants and young girls needing orientation. It is much harder to become what she has become with her background (female, black, daughter of immigrants) even if you are qualified like she is, so yes she is worth the hype.

I remember not being interested and not good at natural science in school until I had a female teacher. I was unconsciously associating related subjects with elderly men in white gowns and then this lady teacher came along and boom, she made an impression on me. My interest in the subject was awakened and I got so much better. It was years later that I understood how we are unconsciously affected and shaped by role models and that gender played a key role in the process.

Girls need female role models in leadership positions. Women also need to be represented accordingly. Women know best which policies affect other women in different ways. This is not to say that we all agree on everything all of the time but women need to have a voice and need to shape the public spheres of life more actively because we are a huge and important part of every society.

You do not see how a woman and a person of color being the VP of the United States relate to equality? I will tell you one of such consequence - a talking point. Yes. It is another great feat, an addition to what women have been doing, and if personally do not value being able to talk about, that's on you. You can choose learn about the other consequences of such a feat.

I’m telling you it’s not idolization (as in she has personally done something unimaginable) . Rather It’s a celebration of the symbolism of it.


We are not celebrating that we have seen a black woman who finally measures up to white men.
We are celebrating that we (Americans) have gotten to a point where we have overcome some of the obstacles put in place to make sure people like us never make it to such positions despite being qualified.

Finally, the US election drama of 'Christian' Trump and 'Evil' Biden is over and Joe Biden has been inaugurated.

In the midst of the drama, another drama ensued

Madam Kamala Harris became the icon of 'female' empowerment world wide.

Phrases such as 'I am lucky to be born in a time like this'; 'Because she can, I can'; 'She has made a way for others' etc.

I say 'Drama' because she did not 'win' the election, the President did. If Biden lost, she would not be there today.

If for instance she became the secretary of state; head of Google or another position she competed/ was elected for; I would understand. This is a position that piggybacks on another position.

If unfortunately she was a Republican and was sent packing with Daddy wa, was she the one that lost?

Can we claim Mike Pence lost the election? Was it not possible that Americans would vote for Mike if he was running with another President?

Americans rejected Trump, can Pence greatly influence his acceptance or rejection?

Question: In this election and position as VP, what was Kamaris' achievement to warrant the near idol status she has received?

Your personal convictions do not hold for all. And that is fine. Celebrate how ever you want. If you didn't create this thread for like-minders to echo your thoughts and you directed it to the people who are celebrating her, then consider what they are saying.

Everybody knows a particular crowd that are celebrating her, but you're trying to rip this off a women's right stand. "I'm talking to you people oh, but don't come close. I haven't mentioned you."

If another woman should do anything notable like this, in another field, she'll still be celebrated come tomorrow, because (and you don't have to see it), there are biases about women and what they can do or not do. The more women change these narratives, the better.



You almost got it here. A woman winning an elective position because it was decided that she FITS is the essence of equality. It's showing that women can LEAD and is helping dispel myths about how women are only good as cooks and whatever. Despite or in spite or whatever of her being a woman, she ran, and she's in that position. Rigging? That's on the electoral system. The point is a woman is doing it (and I'm aware that not everything a woman does is empowerment, but when it comes to such issues, we'll hash it, within its context).



Hathor has explained why Kamala is different. Men lead and are selected all the time, no one bats a lid. There's nothing different happening. Me asking you to point out male politicians you've criticized before because of hype, is because you're asking why the undue hype of Kamala.

Or you mean you're asking why the undue hype of Kamala as a VP? Or as a woman? They are inseparable. Because in answering why the "undue hype" as a simple running mate, I'll respond with a gender-specific reason. And this reason(being woman) doesn't mean she doesn't have the brains for being a VP.

But Biden would not be making decisions alone na? They both won. You can't rule out Kamala's influence. She happen to be a woman, and we're celebrating that.

If Biden didn't win, no problem... She'll prolly still be another woman at the echelons of politics running for presidency/VP like Hillary, making two of them. The trend is getting set until it becomes normal for more women to run along men for such positions.

Are you using the "VP position" as a loophole? Male politicians get hyped. Men are hyped, in every way, and I'm saying I've not seen you question that 'hypnotic, cult like pull' men in powers hold over the masses like you're doing to Kamala. Trump is always inciting vawulence; IPOB sees him as a Messiah, so, Harris as well can be hyped to Pluto and back by online-warring independulant weemyn. Whether as a VP or as a woman.
