Let's talk about the Internation Rivers

International water law helps enable nations to peacefully share a river basin and the waters it contains. The UN Convention (an international agreement) embraces several principles that will likely become the guiding force in managing international watercourses and resolving water conflicts

Im not emotional, I stick to facts, River Niger in Nigeria & her tributries are Nigerian EEZ protected by intl maritime laws, which gives Nigeria the right of Sovereignty hence the legal capacity to define Cabotage, speak to your legal adviser if you have one. I don't care about your examples, I spoke from the position of "Cabotage laws" Sovereign nations decide their Cabotage laws not the trespassers.

GCC countries blockaded Qatar not long ago by redefining their cabotage laws, very legal, Qatar lost in two courts to break even before Trump intervened. Speak facts pls!!

The examples were yours to begin with.

I no get time for online back and forth. You win.

That dude is very emotional

He doesn't know that that principle of equitable and reasonable utilisation, obligation not to cause significant harm, principles of cooperation, information exchange, notification, consultation and peaceful settlement of disputes are widely acknowledged by modern international conventions, agreements and treaties.

International water law developed quite slowly until the middle of the 20th century. Treaties that focused on water allocation and use issues primarily gained momentum after 1930 (McCaffrey, 2013).

There are two highly relevant international water conventions for transboundary water cooperation. The 1997 Convention on the Law of the Non-navigational Uses of International Watercourses, and the 1992 UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (which recently broadened its membership beyond the EU to a global audience).

The soft law of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provides further impetus to the management of transboundary water resources directly through Goal 6.5: implement integrated water resources management at all levels, and through transboundary cooperation as appropriate, and indirectly through Goal 16: promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

The United Nations also has a fair amount of power concerning international waters. Their power is outlined in the United Nations Convention under the Law of the Sea. As of 2017, over 160 countries signed and agreed to abide by this agreement. As we mentioned, any activity on the ship is subject to the country that the ship’s flag flies under.

19 Killed, Many Missing As Bandits Attack Kaduna Community

No fewer than 19 persons have been confirmed dead after bandits invaded Kutemeshi Community in the Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State.

A resident of the community, who confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters, said several calls to security agencies were unattended to, leaving the people at the mercy of the bandits.

He said only a few volunteer vigilantes responded to the emergency calls after the bandits had retreated to the bush.

Bashir Lawal, who narrowly escaped death, said, "Early Sunday morning, 19 people were confirmed dead, while several others were injured and many people still missing. Those killed are set for burial.

"We called several times for security reinforcements, but only a handful of volunteer vigilantes came after the bandits had retreated to the bush around 7pm yesterday.

"In recent days, armed bandits had displaced thousands of people from different communities in various parts of Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State."

The state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He listed the names of people killed as Malan Sani Barume, Yahaya Bello, Amadu Dan Korau, Samaila Niga, Jamilu Haruna, Lawal Majiya, Dan Malam Rabo, Dauda Kafinta, Hassan Mai Makani, Bashir Haruna, Lawal Ali, Mu’azu Haruna, Mai Unguwa Sa’adu and Harisu Bako.

He added that those who sustained injuries had been taken to a neighbouring state closer to Kutemeshi for urgent medical attention.

Aruwan said, “Some shops were also looted with valuable items carted away. Some of the injured (persons) have been moved to a neighbouring state closer to Kutemeshi for urgent medical attention, while others are in transit to an orthopaedic hospital in Kaduna.

"So far, only the 14 corpses have been recovered from Kutemeshi. The Kaduna State Government will provide updates on any emerging developments."

This comes barely three days after six persons were burnt to death during a bandits’ induced auto crash in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

After killing him, they left for Iwoye Ketu.

A farmer, Dele Olowoniyi, has been slaughtered while asleep in a farm settlement at Oha village, Imeko, in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Olowoniyi was said to have been found dead by his wife with machete cuts in his neck and other parts of the body on Sunday.

A source told our correspondent that some Fulani herdsmen stormed the village in the night with guns and cutlass and killed Olowoniyi in the farm.

The source said, “One of our brothers here in Imeko was killed in the early hour of today (Sunday) around 1am by Fulani herdsmen.

“They stormed the village during the midnight with guns and cutlass, they were shot indiscriminately, destroying property.

“Dele Olowoniyi was slaughtered by the Fulani herdsmen at Oha village. After killing him, they left for Iwoye Ketu.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, adding that there was no evidence that the man was killed by Fulani herdsmen.

“The place is a farm settlement, there is only one building there, where the man lived with his wife.

“We were told that he complained of heat and went outside to sleep, but in the morning, he was found dead.

“Nobody can point at his killers, we cannot confirm yet whether the killers are Fulani herdsmen or not. We are still investigating.”

The PPRO however said the family did not allow the police to keep the body for an autopsy.

He said, “They said they don’t want him to be taken to mortuary, and since that is what they want, there is nothing we can do than to release the corpse to them.”

I am an Igbo like several other guys here. I plead that you two should stop derailing this thread already. It is embarrassing and thuggish at best - what you people are doing here. The thread clearly is for military discussion and not tribal bants. Please take your bants and drum beatings elsewhere and STOP it here already. It is infantile and unnecessary. Let us have sanity here. If you continue this way and the thread dies from disinterest from others, would you be happier? Maybe you guys should open one where you can have your type of discussions and nobody here will come disturb you there. But not here, please. angry angry angry angry
