Poor economy means that there would be less marriages. Voting in Buhari in 2015 essentially sealed a terrible economy for 8 years.
Insecurity and a poor economy means that men are more concerned with survival and not getting trapped with providing for a lady and her family, his family and his new families.

Most women are not ready to build life from the scratch with young promising men. They are looking for those who are ready-made, they want men who are living the good life already. thereby making themselves to expensive to get.

Another factor is hardship on the side of the man. Most graduates who are at the age to settle down are unemployed. Most are just feeding from hand to mouth. So if they can't even feed themselves comfortably, how would it be for them adding extra mouths to feed?
