Nigerian Technocrat like Prof. Bath Nnaji has the capability if supported to generate enough power to resolve the power problem in this country but cabals that hold this country in ransom won't allow that development to happen, likewise in the petroleum industry.

Imagine this nonsense. embarassed can anything good ever come from this government. You are planning for 25000MW when the time is already up. Who will fund it and how will this come to reality when u couldn't even do anything when you supposed to start. Awon were, they thought everyone is almanjiri that they can deceive as they like. They are bidding for unrealistic project when we are sure nothing will eventually come out of it. Thunder fire all Una.

This is a very zero sense post, shows how vacuous many of you are. If you don't know anything about this project, why not first try to find out about it instead of blaming the government for your own ignorance and lack of current affairs knowledge.

How do you even lambaste the government for your own ignorance especially when all the facts are out there, fully disclosed from consumption to funding and the entire roadmap to fruition.

Going by your post, almajiri people are more knowledgeable and better educated than you.

You have not said anything about this project. It is better to read about it and understand what it entails before you attack it. I am one of the critics of this government and this is one project I am also very interested in and I personally know the Chief Technical officer to the FG on this project. The project is being funded partly by FG and German govt. Covid caused a delay, hence timelines have changed. The goal is to increase our generating, transmitting and distributing capacity to 25GW in like 7 years. It is on 3 phases with phase 1 starting this Feb. There is a SPV overseeing the project thus making it to last beyond this government. I am remotely involved as I am presently doing analysis of collections and remittance since 2015 till date so that we can compare results after interventions such as this. It is the only pathway for improved electricity supply in Nigeria. Electricity is very complicated tuanany of us think. The Engineering of it is for the best who understand power system. The economics of it is very complicated that even with my years of understanding electricity Markets, I am still learning. We don't have professionals that understand power system in Nigeria and this is why we don't have light. The liquidity problem being experienced in NESI attests to this fact. We only see wires and poles, but men in advanced economies, there is derivative trading in electricity. As we transits to a competitive retail electricity market, we need Siemens to expand our infrastructure for us. It is not cheap. It costs an average of 1m USD to produce 1 MW. So, we need foreign investments. So much to say, but let me stop here. But if you feel you understand Power very well, let's engage here.

Well, said.

Sometimes I worry about our youths and their mentally lazy dispositions. They don't read, they don't follow the news, they don't even exercise their brain to seek basic knowledge about their own country, but always quick to sun to the internet to expose their ignorance.

It's very sad,

Prof Nnaji does not have the capability to "generate" power, whatever that means. Is he the gas producers or the generating plants. Is he the one that drafts PPAs and gas contracts? It is not an individual thing.. Besides, generation is the least of our problems presently. I advise you read more about Electricity.

But Prof Nnaji is playing his part as one of the best brains we have in the Industry. He can only do his best in a regulated industry. I am sure he has one IPP in the east and he is doing well.

The project has attracted low-cost financing backed by the German government and credit-risk guarantees by Euler Hermes Group SAS, according to Tifase. Lenders including Commerzbank AG and Deutsche Bank AG have indicated an interest in extending credit, she said. German lenders are expected to finance the supply of all equipment, products and systems for the project.

This is a low-cost financing backed by the German government. German Chancellor Angela Merkel came to Nigeria to put the deal on the table.

Unlike many previous looting and stealing power schemes by past administrations (Looted $16 Billion power fund by OBJ and his cronies) this is a government to government transaction with no middlemen and looting opportunities.

Impossible!!!
Nigeria does not have the infrastructure to carry or accommodate 25,000MW in six years! And we cannot put the infrastructure in place in six years!
All lies and wishful thinking!!
It will take a minimum of 15-20 years to achieve 25,000mMW

Name the 'infrastructure' you're referring to here.

You'll probably find that building that 'infrastructure' is part of the Siemens deal.

All I see is loud noise from a buffoon, like the other negative-minded, ignorant and stupid buffoons on this thread.

You actually DON'T want progress in this country, you lot. You want it to fail because you're evil-minded people who need to be negative and hateful, or you'll go mental.

Lol, there is no 16b dollars spent anywhere and I don't want us to go into politics . That noise of 16b dollars was a propaganda. This I can tell you authoritatively. Otherwise people are going to be asking about billions that have been spent on Power since 2015. I have records of billions spent and many billions we are still spending on capacity payments . Like I said, we should not talk about politics and this govt and previous govt. The PDP govt did the right thing with the privitization in 2005. Only that those that bought the unbundled companies did not do a due diligence on the assets they bought and many of them don't have the financial and technical competence. We have to blame the govt too as TCN that is still 100% owned by the FG hasn't improved .

Let us stick to the facts of the industry and forget about politics. Even this project Like I told the Chief Technical Officer to the FG who is like a boss to me, many things are not included and we are praying this won't go the way of other policies.
The market is in stages and as we move to the next stage, we can only pray for improvement.
So bros, leave the issue of 16b dollars alone o. Na mere politics. No one can prove it or show any evidence to support it.

Scam
It is pure scam, my borther; just another avenue to siphon money!
Just pre-engineering studies, and it is already taking several years and gulping a whooping 8biliion naira. How much would the actual construction and power generation cost and how long will it take?
A country that cannot generate 5,000MW since 1960 is signing contract for 25,000MW.

This is not even about politics, past administrations and OBJ has nothing to do with politics, they were in charge so naming them has nothing to do with politics. I don't even remember mentioning PDP or APC.

The question now is, if $16 billion was all propaganda, then how much was spent or spent so far and why are we still in darkness even regardless of how much was spent or not?

It's like saying no money was budgeted for power, spent or looted because we can not prove it, even OBJ and the people involved wont deny the existence of $16 billion or any amount of money they budged, spent or looted.

I totally disagree with you about privatization, you can not say they did the right thing while admitting that they sold power assets to to people without power management, generation experience and definitely money to expand and grow their operations with.

They obviously did not do the right thing and we are still suffering due to the fact that they did not do the right thing, not even basic due diligence.

No, he doesn't have to give any money to the Nigerian government.

They could LITERALLY hand the cash directly to ordinary NIGERIANS via a 'cash-back' scheme.

This is 2021. Digital age. Easy peasy.

Or they could execute infrastructure projects.

There are multiple ways they can return the funds without handing any money to government.

What do you think, RuudVanNisteroy?

What happened to the 2007/2008 Agreement which Yar Adua signed with the same Siemens and the German Government to supply 6500 mw by 2020?
It seems like Siemens has a habit of ripping off Nigeria whenever half dead Katsina men are occupying Aso Rock.

This is a good effort by the FG, but comparing this with South Africa which generates 58,000 megawatts for a population of about 59million people; it can be seen that 25,000 megawatts in about six years time for a population of 200 million plus individuals is a very far cry from what Nigeria should be planning for in terms of electric power generation.
The above is very poignant because the level of electricity generation, transmission and distribution is directly related to the level of economic development of a country and the financial well being of it's citizens.
