That way she would be saving her husband the inconveniencing and uncomfortable thought of knowing that the actual father of his child lived just nearby. So the wife agreed.

But rather than act in accordance to this agreement, she slept with her husband's best friend instead, and got pregnant by him. It did not take long before the villagers took notice of the ongoing affair, as well as the pregnancy, and it became a talking point in that village. Unable to contain his anger, and feeling betrayed by this treacherous behavior of his wife, the poor man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.
