I think there is a loophole somewhere you can exploit to your own advantage. I'm not a lawyer but I strongly believe this isn't right, try seek the opinion of legal luminaries and see if there is a channel you can exploit....

I believe you're the illiterate one here; even if your landlord serves you quit notice a week to expiration of your rent, you still have to pay for the extra six months, no be you build his house for am.

He was correct and the police are not the proper authority to interpret the law in this regard. Notice can and should be given prior to expiration of rent provided the notice period does not expire before the expiration of the rent.

There's nothing wrong with this... What it means is that you should move out as soon as your rent expires. Don't stay a day longer.. Just leave on or before the expiry date.

It obvious ur landlord doesn't want you in the house again and he want to play smart on you. That quit notice is invalidated. Six months notice should be start after the expiration of the rentage. I blame the stupid lawyer who served the notice, he should have guided his client on how to go.. Get a lawyer to write ur landlord about the abnormality b4 the time. Either to refund you of Six months payment or allow you to stay for another six months... All this talk come to play if you are on annual payment.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
The landlord is NOT terminating your lease early (nor for failure to pay rent).

He is essentially merely notifying the tenant that, when the current lease term expires in 6 months, he does not intend to renew/extend the tenancy arrangement. Leases are not in perpetuity, and just as the tenant can decide not to renew and to leave the premises, so also does the landlord have the option not to renew nor extend an expiring tenancy (each upon suitable notice as provided in the lease agreement).

Personally, I think 6 months is more than reasonable enough notice (unless the lease agreement provides otherwise).

This is invalid. The expiration should be 8th September to mark the 6 months anniversary of the quit notice issuance.

Since you are literate and not greedy, you are supposed to knw u incur debt already, you are to be shortchanged by landlord but you want to do same.

So many things wrong with that letter. What kind of lawyer wrote that nonessence. First, the notice was given within your tenancy. Either he refund your rent from 8th March to 31st August so as to validate the quit notice or re issue when your rent expire, anything short of that, the quit notice is null and void. So contact your lawyer to write him or you write the lawyer yourself.
Again most importantly, the lawyer can't evict you except the court so for him to harass you with eviction, he is not knowledgeable enough, ensure you indicate that in your letter to him.
