I never support placing huge sum on betting but In my own opinion LEAVE BETTORS ALONE. People lose money everyday on other things/ investment, life is a gamble nothing is certain. Last year in kwara north I lost over 1 million on farming, still in debt. Any time I see the call or message of people I'm owing I cry. Only trusting God for a miracle. NOTHING IS SURE FOR THIS LIFE.
Nothing is sure in life, agreed but comparing an investment to a bet is far too illogical.

Sports › Re: AFCON 2025 Awards: Full List Of Winners by ppogba: 10:37am On Jan 19
Musepe is so shameless he cannot even hide the shame.

What qualifies Morocco for the fair play award?

Perhaps, mopping all the tickets so that opposing teams will not have access.

Perhaps, having people pick opposition goalkeepers towels.

Perhaps, having VAR not intervening when an opponent scored a goal disallowed in the final.

All in all, I am happy for the show of shame in the final. At least, next AFCON, all eyes will be on them.

If owo mi da aka agberos still collect daily tax from motorists then the new tax law is no different from previous ones.

FG and State government can not be taxing so much from Nigerians and still expect them to continue paying levies such as offloading and unloading permit, motor park levies, owo mi da, omo nilè building levies, produce to touts enabled by state and local government etc.

If the Nigeria Tax Act should be meaningful then all these draconian levies and tax must be scraped .
What do you call the ones at Milverton in ABA and those in Onitsha?

Of course, you will not see those.

Honestly this bank valuation and balance sheet won't State their true financial position, rather on the temporary inflow of liquidity which was poured it to give fake narrative, after which funds will be pull back to it original source
Is just like someone applying for embassy statement, and went to look for funds to boast his figured to reflect in it statement.
For you to know bank tru valuation and balance sheet, study it previous year figure, and see it trend any once huge inflow from the unexpected trend inflow, know that is it. Because they move out the funds they will later claim decline in market value due to inflation or government, knowing fully well them dun return the capital
It is not surprising that an epistle like this has not iota of fact,, truth and sense in it. Typical though!

If bank valuation and balance sheet doesn't give a true financial position,I wonder what does that in your little mind.

Which temporary inflow of liquidity are you talking about?

It is always amazing how you guys are never ashamed to advertise your ignorance to the whole world. A secondary school student is better than most of you here. And if you are a secondary school student, shame on your teachers.

Got this from my bank.

We hope your new year has started on a pleasant note.

We would like to notify you that, in line with the new Nigeria Tax Act (NTA), a 10% Withholding Tax (WHT) will now apply to the following;

· Interest earned on all savings accounts, regardless of the account balance.
· Interest earned on foreign currency (FCY) denominated deposits.

This update is effective from Thursday, 01 January 2026.

Please note that these WHT deductions are in accordance with the Withholding (Deduction at Source) Regulations, 2024.

Thank you for banking with us.

Best regards
Stanbic IBTC Bank

Tax on interest earned on my account balance huh huh huh
It is good that they informed you. But, I can assure you, only 0.0005% of people that transacts with banks or have accounts with banks will be deducted this.

How many customers earn interest on their savings for a start?

How many have FCY not to talk on earning interest on the deposits therein.

However, be rest assured that those that do not even know what it takes to open a Dom account will make the loudest noise especially on the social media.

The man has cashed out about 228 Million Naira from his shares in his own Company. Who and who bought those shares?😁

In case you missed the information, last year, Austin Laz was pumped from N1.70, and was dumped at N5.70. That was a massive 235% gain. If you know, you know.
hmmmm!

This is one of the things that highlights regulatory irresponsibility, regulatory connivance and regulatory ineptitude that are nothing but ever present RED flags for the investing public.
There were more like this in the past and there will be more in the future as long as those saddled with regulatory responsibilities will NEVER hesitate to turn their eyes away for the FILTHY LUCRE.

If you're not a trader. There are dozens of fundamentally sound stocks that will absorb your funds easily even if you're investing billions.

It's prudent to stick with those, and not be bothered about any quick 300%

The headline isn't always accurate.

Like when we read that NCR did 1300% in 2025.

The reality is that less than 20 people in the whole country could have held up to 1 million units of the stock, more important is that fact that those who bought at the year low and sold at the year high are even fewer.

Comparisons Should be done of my portfolio this year vs my portfolio last year, that's the only comparison that really matters. If anyone likes let them make 7000% on a position, I'll be good with my 2-5% .
Totally agree with you. The race is personal and individual.

There are many in the category of Mecure like that.

I no go say anything.
That is why, one must shine their eyes. It is also important to ignore some of the analysis that can lead to paralysis on this investment side of Nairaland.

Till tomorrow, I am yet to know what drags DAAR in whatever direction.

There was a time a certain Cocoa company has its shares going up when close to nil activity was on going in their factory .

A certain pharmacy that no longer has " chemists" anywhere that I know is still here.

The price of a company that all I can attach to them are Diagnostic centers in Lagos, Ibadan and perhaps a few places in Nigeria is now close to N90.

Make God help us to shine our eyes.
