Pes13: I'm confused, but in invisible teacher, it was stated that who will refer to the noun or pronoun that comes before it and that noun or pronoun must become subject
example they used is this One of the girls who________impregnated_________died (a) was/have (b) were /have (c) was/has (d) were /has
Option d was choosen Hehe. I was taught the way I explained it earlier by an English lang. teacher. What is more, I saw a similar question in Jamb past questions and the option I chose was correct. |

estijaz: 1)Heat is a form of energy n d SI unit for energy is joule na,y r all ur answers in kwh?It is d unit PHCN uses. True that the unit of heat is Joules. But if you were very conversant with the topics: Energy and Power; and Cost of Electrical Energy, you would notice that "Joule is too small as a unit for dealing with the energy demands of households and commercial ventures", so PHCN doesn't use Joule. They use a large unit instead, i.e the Kilowatt-hour (KWh) To me d solution is this
w=pt = 95/100[40 * (1000*60*60)]=1.368*10^8J Your calculation is based on the SI unit Joule. Mine is KWh. If I converted mine to Joule I would get the same answer as the above. 2)PHCN total power consumed weda it was converted or not.So we use d entire 100% cost=(40/1000)* 1000 *6=#2.4 Error. You should use 95% which caused your no.3 error. 3)Dis is d simplest of all fraction =60k/240k=1/4

Pes13: B cassyrooy: C Bhuumhite: were/has tobillionaire: B The answer is actually C i.e was/has One of the thieves who was arrested has been bailed. The subject here is "one of", and it is a subject to the verb "was" (since "one of" is singular). "Has", then, definitely follows. |

1. The bulb has a life of 1 000hrs. Total engry used up = kWh = 40 W x 1000 h = 40000Wh = 40kWh
Remember, 5% is given up as light (i.e luminous heat) Therefore, non-luminous is 95% x 40kWh
= 95/100 x 40kWh = 38 kWh.
2. If PHCN charges are 6 kobo per unit, cost of operating the bulb will be
38 kWh x 6 Kobo/kWh = 228 Kobo i.e N2.28K
3. What is the fraction of the cost of operation is the cost of the lamp?
Remember, the bulb costs 60 Kobo and total charges of operation is 228 Kobo. Therefore, fraction of cost of operation is
60 Kobo / 228 Kobo = 0.26 (close to 1/4 which is 0.25)

Pr0ton: Anyone on Physics?
Of the energy expended in an electric light bulb, only 5% is given off as light. A typical 40-watt bulb costs 60 Kobo and has a life of 1 000 hours.
1. How much non-luminous heat is developed in the lamp?
2. If PHCN charges 6 Kobo per unit, what is the cost of operating the lamp?
3. What fraction of the cost of operation is the cost of the lamp?
