toslad:My Sister, Long time. Believing you are doing great. I took a break to take lessons from the Queen (as per English nah ooo) and Iya Charlie did not disappoint. The ministry is gradually moving to the permanent site and very soon, I mean sooner than soon, it will surely end in praise by His grace. |
Congratulations @afojibola. May you prosper in the land beyond expectation @Spyroxy1, I say congrats ooo (in line with the grapevine). It will end in praise especially for Accountants and Auditors who DHA wants to turn to superhuman point gatherers. ![]() |
alsorans:It is good to quote figures but the figures need not be accurate. So if you feel like quoting figure, just quote the first that your eyes sighted and move on. It is in an attempt to be accurate that we hesitate. All the best. |
For PTE speaking, I think it is more of Oral Fluency. After many attempts, God granted me the grace to concentrate on Oral Fluency and I scored 79+ (81). Oral Fluency - 86, Pronunciation - 34. The time and money expended on pronunciation are only for my benefit (as no knowledge is lost) and did not reflect in my PTE scores. One of the reasons why Indians record more success than us in PTE is because the speed and fluency of their speech. We speak English pass them wella. So concentrate on Oral Fluency. You may check "How to Link Words - Speak English Fluently" by Oxford Online English on YouTube. It will end in praise in Jesus Name. Amen |
Congratulations @ timikenzo2 and @ZoeW. May you continue to prosper in the land in Jesus name. @ Phlunter 01, biko sow a word of authority into my own case so that ITA will miraculously fall on me. |
Congratulations @mamajaz. It will end in praise. |
For pronunciation and oral fluency, the BBC site is loaded with helpful materials. The ones I found really helpful include: 1) The Sounds of English (also on YouTube for download). This is very key especially where she compares sounds. There are some sounds in English (diphthongs) but not in our local dielects and vice versa. Never thought the 'ex' in most words starting witg 'exa' such as 'exalted' , 'exam', example sounded as 'igz' 2) Tim pronunciation workshops 3) 6 minutes English. www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/features/pronunciation Not yet there but inching closer. We will all get there. |

Congrats Afolaseg! All the very best in your sojourning. May the good Lord prosper you in the Land. Congrats bro! Congrats my supplier daada ni. |
@mikeade7, The wiseman has stated all that is needed. Let me just add that you can always stress more of your duties that align with general/management accountant instead of copying ANZCO job description word for word. If you look carefully at your current duty you will discover that you do at least two thirds of what is required for a management accountant and / or general accountant. Just look at the goals of your job, the objectives of your job and you will see this. Bid you Godspeed. It will end in praise. |
uchey:Hi Uchey, Don't overstress yourself on the school Syllabus. I actually used statutory declaration for mine. You only need to describe and explain course content relating to the competency mentioned on CPA site. For ICAN syllabus, you can check online for the year you stated. If not online, then send someone to ICAN library to get you a copy. The ones I have are for 1998 and 2005. Please act fast and never allow syllabus to hold you down. While at assessment, try and ace 20points in English on time. That seems the albatross for most of us nominating that occupation. |
Congratulations @ SallyAus. What a testimony. Thank God it is ending in praise. @Area7, Kindly check the requirement for the occupation you are applying for. If my memory serves me right, I believe you need a minimum of 1 year work of experience to start with for accountant. Assessment is not so much a big deal once your syllabus covers all the required competencies ( with or without ICAN). However, the tier of your school will play a major role in what it is assessed as (associate or bachelor). The main issue remains your plan towards getting enough points to meet up with the qualifying point for invitation. So think of this and make your decision if you want to proceed. |
@uchey, I used CPA. Others like @Toslad that used ICAA also have good things to say about them. Both assessing bodies are fair once you submit all the required documents. ICAN transcript can be gotten from ICAN Lagos office. Just send someone after making a payment of N10,000 for the transcript and ensure you are not owing any due. I think @zibe posted a link. Kindly check the link and ICAN site. |
uchey:In my own case, pre-ICAN membership work experience was recognized. However, the first 3 years of my work experience was not recognized on the claim that my duties during the three years were not carried out at the required level for the occupation. All the best. |
uchey:Hi uchey, Accountant assessment is more of coverage of required competencies. If your school syllabus covers the required competencies you will surely get a positive assessment ( after meeting other requirements). You can visit CPA or ICAA sites for comprehensive details. The challenge about schools is that if your school is a tier 2 school, your educational qualification will be assessed as associate degree (which points tally is not good for accountants). ICAN membership is however assessed as equivalent to bachelor's degree which will give you 15 points. All the best. |
God bless @Wellendowed for those pictures. Picture speaks more than word. A good friend will tell you the truth but most Nigerians preferred being pampered. The word 'lazy' is in no way an insult but a challenge to be alive and show responsiveness to things that are dear to one. Truth be told, many like to be spoonfed in this part of the world failing to know that we are charged to 'prove all things and hold on to that which is the truth'. How can we prove if we do not research? Let pictures be rolling in maybe inspiration to surmont 'engrish' will come from there. |
^^^ Au over Can, because alphabetically, A comes before C. That's why people don't talk about Somalia or Yemen or Zimbabwe ( They are all down the line in alphabetical order). In all honesty, there is no need for such comparison as individual preference differs. If you however have no preference, you may research other threads such as living in Canada or Living in Australia to shape your thought process. Peace. |
500th page! Like Awo boyz in Oba Awon University use to stamp on their convenience. "Praiseisgood waz here" It will end in Praise. Amen |
zibe:Dear Zibe, You may send me a PM. Cheers. |
Congrats Misoke! The good Lord will perfect that which he has begun. @STAugustine13, you are sighted! Just keep on looking. Don't make attempt to comment ooo coz na dia fight go start. So what happened to ya enquiry? Misoke Congrats jor! Congratulations Jare!! |
Happy birthday @bellong. May the good Lord bless your caring heart and home. You are indeed a good ambassador |
Bimpsy99:The 20/09 invitation round where 85 points was stated for accountant is most likely a fluke and definitely unsustainable. Someone posted a link on this thread where a MARA sought clarification and got a response from DIBP that they have some issues on their system which they are working on. That probably explains why there was no invitation for accountants in the 04/10 round. We await the result of 18/10 round to know the true situation. I however believe that it will still be 75 points as the waiting period for Auditor was even longer than that of accountant even when both were at 75 points. |
