Great people, Please I am looking for an accommodation (2 bedroom) in any of these cities (Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga or Etobicoke). Any lead is highly appreciated. NB. I have already reached out to Mr. Najam but nothing concrete yet. 1 Like 1 Share |

Please is there any issue if the FRSC driver's license extract is addressed to the owner of the driver's license. I.e. my letter was addressed to me at my Nigerian address instead of ministry of transportation in Canada. Could it lead to any issue? Thanks in advance for the clarification. |

Belated COPR Announcement!!! Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…be glory and honour and power for evermore. It can only be God from submission to PPR was 2 months. Timeline IELTS: Principal Applicant (L,R,W,S - 9,8.5,7,7) – 28th July 2018 IELTS: Partner - 8.5,9,7.5, 7 - 2nd November 2017 ECA: WES - PA (2 or more certificates): 26th October 2018 ECA: WES - Partner (Masters): 27th August 2018 Score: 456 ITA: 15th November 2018 Medicals: IOM PCC: Ikoyi - Submission: 28th December 2018 Biometrics: 14th February 2019 PPR: 27th February 2019 COPR: 20th March 2019 This is coming late and I tender my unreserved apology while saluting Elders in the house who have ceaselessly and relentlessly provide assistance. The Start The urge to leave the country started early 2017. Canada and Australia were considered with AU trumping CA because of its clement weather and higher ‘ego’ (pay). However, the process became unfavourable for our occupations along the line. We then shifted our gaze to Canada. Thank God we did on time. Credential Evaluation (WES – N70,000) This was quite straight forward with the exception of date of birth error on transcript sent by the school to WES. We notified WES and also applied for a new transcript with correct date of birth. WES sent another report immediately they received the amended transcript. IELTS (N75,000 / N68,000) We already had a feel of IELTS (Academic) when pursuing the Australian dream. PA attempted first IELTS (General Module) with MOD but got a score of 6.5 in Writing. We remarked but MOD swallowed our 46k. The second attempt was with BC and it came out fine. Spouse attempted IELTS (GM) with MOD but there was a service failure which led to missing the Speaking session. The next attempt with BC which was meant for Australia but fell short of the required standard however came handy for Canada runs. Focus and aiming higher than the popular required score are key. Medicals (N41,400 for adult and N28,000 for children ) We prescheduled Medical and spent 8 hours@ IOM Ikeja on the appointment date. That day was really busy and we were number 40 something at 8am. There was a staff there that kept making mistakes while imputing our records (appeared overstretched). However, the Doctor that attended to us was highly professional and made us think less of the time spent. An incident happened when urine sample was submitted. The nurse requested another sample because of the colour of the first sample. After nearly emptying a bottle of CWAY water placed at the reception, child of God was still not pressed. When urine was eventually squeezed out, the thing stubbornly appeared coloured. Las las, clear urine came out at the verge of giving up. Lest I forget, if you are a fan of sumptuous Ofada rice, then make sure you visit IOM canteen when next you are there. The delicacy was yummy and unbelievably cheap. ITA It wasn’t so much of a surprise that ITA fell on us or we fell on ITA (whichever suits Aunty Linda). Thereafter, the race to tidy our proof of fund started. We made sure the available fund exceeded the threshold a bit and then arranged all necessary proof of evidence. These include 6-month statement of accounts (for PA & Partner – though there was no fund in the accounts), Treasury Bill certificate, statement from IBTC and PA pension statement as a buffer against foreign exchange volatility. On the first page of POF, we have a table detailing each fund source in Naira as well as Canadian Dollar equivalent. We also briefly mentioned that the fund came from our combined savings. Travel History Nothing elaborate. Ghana, US, SA, UK & Dubai and of course our villages. Work History PA used six years of work experience relevant to the chosen NOC and move all other years to personal history. Spouse moved all years of experience to personal history. PCC (N4,000) ASP Moshood came handy. Such a very jovial, cheerful Officer with good customer service. At least he is unlike some that will collect your money and still behave as if they are doing you a whole world of favour. He processed it within a twinkle of an eye. God bless him. Passport photograph was taken @studio 24 @ the rate of N1,500 per person. Submission, AOR, PPR & COPR We submitted on 28th December after paying all necessary fees. On February 14th 2019, Biometrics gave us a romantic visit and medical was updated as passed. We were then watching like bats (credit to Fayose) and on 2nd March when PA checked the mail, the golden mail was there in inbox chilling since 28th February (Dated 27th). The mail was nearly missed but God sent village people on errand. We submitted our passports with the necessary fees (N17,800 / passport) and also paid for tracking services (surprisingly, it was functional). COPR and passports were picked up at VFS on 26th March, COPR (few days after we were notified of their arrival). Many thanks to wonderful people who continuously labour to enrich this thread. All guidance was taken from this thread and the thread is highly recommended. Shalom! 92 Likes 11 Shares |

simeonaussie: Hi Simeon, It will be assessed as 4 yrs and 10 months. But point can only be claimed for less than 5 years. If you are however still in the employment and your birthday is further than 11th February (relevant draw date), I will advise you assess immediately (after making sure your points are enough to get you ITA), Otherwise, have a rethink and look elsewhere. Note that your years of experience will continue to count after assessment as long as you are still on the same job role. All the best. 3 Likes |

Chino18: Photocopies are not acceptable. Only original copy (which may be black and white but the stamp will be in colour). Hope you are adding your ICAN transcripts as well?. It is better to submit all relevant documents to avoid going back for review of assessment. I am not too certain if UNIBEN is a tier 1 school (gurus should please weigh in on this). It's better to play safe. We will get there. 2 Likes 1 Share |

^^^ She only needs positive assessment (education) and having her occupation on the same list with yours. Is she an Accountant / Auditor? If yes, she may go with ICAA (CAAZ). Please check out @toslad). |

feelzee: No sir/madam. I think 4-year course in most (if not all) state Universities is rated as Associate Degree which can only fetch 10 points as against Bachelor's Degree (15 points). Some occupations demand you have equivalent of Australian Bachelor's Degree. You may reach out to @lawland for the tier your school falls into. I did not get separate points. The maximum point on Education for me is 15 points as both the ICAN (membership) and B.Sc were assessed to be equivalent to Australian Bachelor's Degree. 1 Like |

FCCA2012: My Sister, Do whatever you must to ensure you are invited before November. I am paying dearly for dropping points on age. There is real competition for Accountant/Auditor and the Indians are just amassing points like kilode. Guess you are in Aussy. Why not explore the NAATI option if you can quickly learn a new language. Also follow up on the assessing body to ensure your Husby's assessment is out on time. On NSW, they have slowed down invitation. Guess the last time they sent invite (pre-invite) was Mid- April (Although someone claimed to get on 11th May. Hopefully, with the lifting of unannounced ban on Accountant and regular invites for 189 by DHA, there will be less stress on 190. We shall get there. |

toslad: Yes maám. My ICAN (membership) was assessed as equivalent to Australian Bachelors Degree by CPAA. Same with my wife who graduated from a state suniversity. Only her ICAN (membership) was assessed as the B.Sc does not qualify -Tier palaver. How are you doing? Hope the ministry is moving on fine. |

FCCA2012: Hi FCCA2012, CPA is cool and objective. Why not check ICAA as well because some of the assessing bodies allow for dual assessment only that you can only use one of the assessment at a time (i.e you can't use both concomitantly). Have you submitted EOI for NSW? With your 75 points and 5 points SS you should be on 80 points. I have read (on expatforum) of G-Accountant nominated by NSW recently with 80 points (SS inclusive) giving the fact that they have Superior English and work experience (both of which you have). Also, have you considered your MBA (obtained in Australia)? That should give you additional point if you have concluded it. I think you should look at your options critically before committing resources to additional assessment. Your profile (from my point of view) is good to go. All the best. It will end in praise. 2 Likes |

@ thegoodnessofmyjoyhasarrived2015, Your Sister's profile is unique. Her HND is not equivalent to Australian Bachelor Degree which is the expected qualification for Accountants. I however do not know about the acceptability of her ANAN certification (which is even discriminated against here in Naija). She can however send a mail to the assessing bodies - CPA Australia or ICAA on the ANAN certification. Her years of experience is cool if only she can cross over the barrier of minimum qualification. Peradventure her ANAN is acceptable, she should bear in mind that she needs to write IELTS Academics or PTE-A and score a minimum of 7 across band for IELTS and 65 for PTE in order for her to be assessed by the assessing bodies. Giving her age, she definitely needs to score 8 (IELTS) or 79+(PTE-A) to have any chance in the accounting occupation as it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than for a Naija based accountant to presently scale through DHA hurdles. Hope is free and we all have the right to hope. So never say never as the hurdles could be removed sooner than later. It will end in praise. 1 Like |

Alexxiss: In my case, CPA recognized my work experience prior to ICAN certification. Economics is closer to Accounting than my first degree. However, some years were deducted from my years of experience and the reason was that my job duties at the period was not performed at the level required for my ANZSCO code. Although, the years recognized were more than enough to get me the maximum point. So I will advise that he structure all his job duties to be highly relevant without any gap. Bottom line, years of experience are recognized immediately after B.Sc once the duties are relevant to ANZSCO code duties. It will end in praise. |

Alexxiss: @ Alexxiss 1a) Your hubby has a good chance 1b) His degree will fly with CPA or ICAA. He graduated from the Only African University (aka Oba Awon University). Hence, his degree is like the Harvard of Africa. Help shout Great Ife!!! 3 times to him when he's back home. So many would have paid a fortune to attend that school. 1c) He can go for General Accountant or External Auditor (External Auditor and Internal Auditor possess the same skill set). I however recommend External Auditor as Accountants invitation is currently frozen. 2. This is the reason I suggest he goes for Gen. Accountant or External Auditor to avoid vetasses wahala. Cheaper, faster and favourable outcome 3. YES. Its very much worth it. You can assess your own qualification and add 5 points to his (If your occupation is on the list). Alternatively, he can go for state sponsorship and with 75 points + 5 points SS, he will most likely get it within a month 4. Yes. NSW have Accountant and Auditors on their priority list and they do not require job offer. So whatever he wants to do, he should do quickly as rumour mills have it that changes (massive ones) are coming to the immigration process. It will end in praise. 1 Like |

@ bornlegend, The requirement for accounting includes one year experience. However, I have read of so many people that got their education assessed positively by CPA on expatforum. So I will say it is likely possible to get positive qualification assessment without the requisite experience. You may send mail to the assessing body. All the best! |
