Mehn..This thread is still going on after over 5 years i joined. Good to see it still ongoing. Wealth of wisdom for Aussie faithfuls. All the very best to your dreams and aspirations migrating to Australia. Never give up and hold on to that dream. It is worth it, believe me. Australia is good. I guess things must have slowed down with covid 19 but it won't last for long. I also understand its getting competitive and they have been lifting the bar lately. Nevertheless, pursue that dream and make it a reality.

Hi guys about this Australia PR , I will like to know if I stand any chance.
I am. 31 years old
I have Bsc Accounting (2.2)
I am a chartered Accountant
I have 7.5 years banking experience
I got a 7 in ielts General ( March 14 2015)
Please advise me.
I didn't know of other ways so I went on to apply for a TAFE course with my o level. But just incase I will like to know if I may be qualified for PR with my family.

Pls advise me .

You are almost there in your quest for PR. Your IELtS result wont cut it because you did General test. You will need to have a 7 in all bands in Academic test in most Accounting related discipline under the SOL list but do your research. Your years of working experience looks good. Read the thread, carry out more research and make haste because i heard they reviewing the academic requirements again which may further lift the bar.

Hello Prechear. Is skills assessment with CPA considered to get CPA certification? Can one claim exemptions with ICAN?

If you get assessed by CPA during your skills migration, you won't have to undergo any form of assessment for exemption and stuff if wish to write CPA exams. Getting assessed by CPA won't give you automatic membership but will save you the stress of having to go through another assessment and paying fees, if for example you were assessed by IPA and later decide to write CPA.

You mean, I m not good to go....

Not with certainty. I said " I doubt". You may want to give it a try. Only your Accounting B.sc MAY not cut it. Chookudi's gf used only her accounting B.sc but didn't get a +ive assessment although she had ICAN. Our B.sc syllabus is not robust enough to cover all the mandatory subjects needed for a +ive assessment.

Yes I use. I doubt if only our Accounting B.sc equates to OZ B.sc.

Sorry for the late response. Accounting Theory is not mandatory for external auditors but I dnt know for Accountants. I didn't have accounting theory and it was optional in my case. Your friends assessment result shld tell what the problem really is because they usaully state the reason for whether +/- result.

Oh! I meant to say prechear

Abi madam wan change me to geologist and the geologist to accountant lol. To your question, like the geologist said, all the assessing authorities usually give an estimate of their processing time and its to find out which is the fastest. But for any accountant that wish to pursue a career in accounting related field and hope to get a professionl certification in OZ, my advice will be to use CPA. CPA because they are well regarded in the market as least when compared to the other accounting bodies. Just a little edge but it may not always be the case. My 2 cent

Only someone who understand what quality of life is, and not the amount of money they can make, will understand what you have written above.

The politicians he listed don't even keep their children in the country not because of money. They occasionally leave the country to relax leaving gaps in governance. When Saraki was governor in Kwara, he was practically ruling the state from the UK.

Life is not about making money.

True talk. "Life is not all about making". #QualityLife #Security #NoHustleForFuel #JobsForTheWilling #NoPaddyPaddy

@preacher, I have gotten my qualifications assessed by CPA and I was confirmed academically suitable for migration. My bachelor degree was assessed as comparable to an Australian associate degree, ICAN qualification was assessed as comparable to an Australian bachelor degree and my two master degrees from an Australian university were assessed as comparable to an Australian master degree. Although, I didn't include my experience since I have 65 points. In addition, I have already filled the EOI online. I would appreciate your advice and your experience. Thanks.

Advice? All u need do is SIT back and RELAX...the next stage for DIBP to invite u to formally lodge an application and u jst have to take it one step at a time. Then medicals and finally grant. You have crossed the major hurdle of assessment. Every other thing will jst follow. My sincere advice: Just relax

@Preacher, are u saying all u presented for ur skilled assessment was ur degree and work experience without professional qualifications like ICAN/ACCA, what qualifications did u present with how many years of working experience?

In ur earlier post, u said "registration" and "license". I never knew u were refering to qualifications. Yes, I presented ICAN cert along with my application for assessment. I presented 3yrs work experience. I also used CPA too. Congrats on ur positive assessment

@ aolatunde00 and prechear did you apply for registration or license as an external auditor before you were granted your visa?

No I didn't apply for any registration or license. External auditor is on the skilled occupation list jst as other professions. All u need is to get ur skilled assessed positively by an assessing body of ur choice.

Please I have gotten my outcome and it was NEGATIVE. I was assessed for the job of Internal Auditor (ANZSCO 221214). I am a Chartered Accountant (ICAN) and my first degree was in Engineering. I worked in an audit firm as an audit trainee before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. After I qualified, I moved to a bank as an Internal Auditor, of which I still working. I have, however, written back to VETASSESS to complain about the NEGATIVE outcome. However, what caught me my attention (the most) from the report is the statement below.

Membership Certificate completed in xxxx at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, LAGOS, Nigeria cannot be recognised by VETASSESS as:
At the time of award the awarding institute and/or the qualification was not recognised by the relevant authorities in the country of award

Field of study Accountancy is highly relevant.

In addition, they claimed that my work experience in the Audit firm and the bank as an Internal Auditor

'does not meet the minimum requirements for this occupation as the employment does not follow a qualification at the required level in
a highly relevant field'.

My question is this - IS ICAN NOT RECOGNIZED BY VETASSESS? PLEASE WHAT IS THE BEST WAY FORWARD?

ICAN is recognized. I think what VETASSESS is saying is tht a background in Accounting is required. Its good you protested and hopefully they will reconsider. Is VETASSESS the only assessing authority for internal auditors? If CPA or ICAA are optional assessing authorities, you may want to use them instead of VETASSESS

I didn't carry because peeps here told me nt to and I will advise u nt to carry because it may delay u at customs. U will be asked to declare wat u came wit and food items are on red alert as carriers for diseases they cud introduce to d population. I ws told tht food here re nt so expensive even african food.

You assess your skills with the relevant accoubting body. I would advise you contact prechear , as he got his visa by nominating accounting.

Me MA ke, I'm a young lady ooo lol.

Prechear

It follows the normal PR process:

1. Hit a 7 in all band in ielts (academic)
2. Get ur skills assessed by CPA, ICAA, IPA etc
3.If positive, express interest
4. When invited, lodge application
5. Medicals, PCC etc
6. Grant

sending greetings frm the great city of victoria. Melbourne is cool! Am already loving dis place

I think you guys got him wrong. He meant for those that want the airport pickup, and city tour...so it fmdoes not derail the thread.

Sister, Its better to derail the thread than allow someone play a fast one here. He also said "we are organizing a reception and dinner for u guys". who are d "we"? I can't recall when peeps already in OZ talk abt a group in Western OZ following this thread. He didn't even give details only to go on to talk abt arranging pick-ups at d airport. The next thing will be to ask those who PM him to make payment upfront. OK, let's give him d benefit of d doubt to explain better. I still smell something fishy
