I just collected my SIN (in person application) today. Pretty straightforward process. U need to see how coordinated these guys are. Nigeria has a long way to go.

I am talking my experience. The few Nigerians I met no give me face. The whites I have come across were helpful. Even the girl I met in the Nigerian store I tried talking to her to ask where I could get eggs as there were no eggs in that store she was not even entertaining my greetings sef. I greeted oyibo girl she smiles and answered. It was an oyigbo that told me where I can get eggs. It's my experience I have had so far. I don't need to live for 10 years to know that the Nigerians I met weren't kind to me.

Modified: The only Nigerian that has been so kind to me since I came is my AirBnB host. He is always checking up on me to know that I am fine.

I repeat, if you can read and understand simple instructions, you do not need an agent to process your visa. agents such as this phd guy will only collect your money and promise you permanent study permit and then get you a ban from entering that country.

Please, I need some advice regarding an issue involving my wife, and I would appreciate guidance on the best way to resolve it.
My wife is an international student in Canada and currently works approximately 20 hours per week at XX company . At the same time, she had been attending a school on a voluntary training basis in early childhood education, without being formally employed there.
Subsequently, there was a change in the school's management. The new management was apparently unaware that she had been participating as a volunteer/trainee and mistakenly treated her as an employee. She was later formally offered employment by the school.
The issue is that the school also processed 24 hours from her previous training/volunteer period as paid employment and generated a payslip/cheque for those hours. My wife had not submitted her banking information and has not received the payment. As soon as she became aware of the error, she informed HR that those 24 hours related to her earlier training/volunteer period and asked that they be removed from payroll.
However, HR informed her that the accountant said the payroll had already been processed and that the cheque could no longer be cancelled or removed.
Our concern is that if those 24 hours are recorded as employment and combined with the approximately 20 hours she worked at Xx company during the same week, the records could appear to show approximately 44 hours of work, despite the school hours having arisen from the earlier training arrangement and subsequent payroll error.
We would therefore appreciate professional advice on how she should properly rectify and document this situation, whether the school should provide a written clarification of the payroll error, and whether any further action is necessary to protect her compliance with the conditions of her study permit.

Please I need your advice
So I have a visitors visa from last year and then this year I applied for a study permit. Now I’m currently visiting (I’m in Canada) and then I received a message from ircc for passport request. Because I had a visa, I didn’t fill out the visa form. What can I do ? I was thinking of raising a web form that hey I already have a visa (I supposed they ought to know). bottom line is I don’t want to send my passport to them while I’m in Canada.

I won't be surprised if they cut down the duration. It used to be only 1 year with a requirement that you get a job in your field within 3 months after you graduate.

On July 24, 2026, IRCC updated its officer guidance under R220 without changing any dollar figures; instead it sharpened two things officers must be satisfied about: that your funds are genuinely available to you without working in Canada, and where those funds actually came from. Officers are now directed to scrutinize the amounts and sources of applicants' funding, with the source of funds assessed "in all cases" — replacing the earlier framework that limited detailed financial verification to applications from designated high-risk environments, and reportedly extending the bank-statement window from four to six months. The thresholds themselves are unchanged: $22,895 for a single applicant outside Quebec, plus first-year tuition and travel.

Nice. I also believe a big emphasis from IRCC going forward is on POF and the source of fund passing validity in being genuine and readily available to the primary applicant's use. They don't want people who will enter Canada and be a nuisance with the current state of the economy. Plus the ongoing Indian students protest has really left a bad taste in their mouth and the Canadian people are upset at their level of entitlement.

Please, I need your advice. I’m planning to start my travel process, and I want to apply for the Millwright Certificate program at NBCC, which is a one-year program.

From what I understand, completing the program will make me eligible for a one-year PGWP. However, I’m concerned about my pathway to permanent residency. You mentioned that a person generally needs at least one year of Canadian work experience, but if my PGWP is only valid for one year, I’m worried that it may expire before I can complete the PR process.

I would really appreciate it if you could help me understand how this works before I proceed with my admission application. I want to be sure I’m making the right decision.
